Backround: A bunch of pansies hippie, "I'm-rich-but-I'm-the-champion-of-the-poor" kids walked out of their high school today and marched in protest on the Federal Building. A group of them lied down in the street, blocking traffic and being assholes in general.

Then the police got there.

Now, being the provoking bastard I am, I hitched a ride with my friend where we stopped a few blocks from the protest and walked to the are. You know how you or I would crack open a cold one to celebrate something? Well I guess the police got the idea to crack open a hippie skull to celebrate the beginning of the war, because the batons were out and those protestors lying in the middle of the street were being beaten and dragged to the sidewalk.

Now, the police chief over there was heading out (heard it on the radio) just as my friend and I left, because the high school these particular protestors were from was famous for being in a community of...guess.

Lawyers.

This is gonna play out beautifully. Oh, and people- all the stories of how stupid the antiwar people are- they're all true.

Lol, I am still getting used to your attitude.

Grammatical correction: "lay down in the street,"

I do agree that they were punks for breaking the law. You should always obey the law when protesting if you wish anyone to take you seriously.

However if they were really beaten, we are probably gonna be hearing about it on the news.

Do you have any photos? I am doing a report on police brutality

Techniqually wasn't police brutality, from what I saw. No excess force- merely the force required to get those idiots' dumb asses over to the sidewalk. All the ones I saw being beat up on were refusing to move to the sidewalk and resisting when police tried to drag them over.

There is a big difference between busting out with the beatin' stick and police brutality.

That's a line our society has deemed too dangerous to navigate.

Initial reports indicated the man was attempting to secure an anti-war banner on one of the bridge towers, however no banner was found at the scene.

It's a conspiracy!!!

Heh.

Was it something fun like this, MiB?

You just have to beat those idiot protesters down, like this:

In the course of falling over 200 feet, he would have fallen almost straight down, while his banner could have been blown by the wind for quite some distance laterally.

Or maybe he didn't have a banner, and was just up there for the hell of it. Bit late to ask him now.

Wow. Some people who support the war are stupid. I guess that means being against the war at all, for whatever reason, is also stupid. Of course, how obvious.

Hey, will someone please move this shit over to the Debate Forum?

Oh yes. Rich people are never allowed to care about the poor.

U.S. Parks Service police closed Lafayette Park in Washington, a traditional place for people to make political statements, soon after several hundred people gathered there. Since the Sept. 11 attacks, the park can be shut if more than 25 people gather there.

By the same 'rich people don't care about america' bussiness, why have only two people with a PHD ever held the presidency of the united states, as apposed the fifty or so that were independently wealthy?

Rich people care about america, smart people don't?

Oh yes. Rich people are never allowed to care about the poor.

The problem is not that rich people aren't allowed to care about the poor, or do not care about the poor, it's that there are too many rich teenagers who become "civil rights activist" protesting against the poor, the war, and any other form of authority they can find. Too many of them are not genuine, and are simply doing it as a form of rebellion or so they can be "holier-than-though." The act lacks any authentity or meaning since its for all the wrong reasons.
It's like going to an open-mike night at a cafe to listen to a bunch of rebellious kids who drive SUV's that their parents bought for them reciting bad poetry about the evils of capitalism and the need for social reform and a humanitarian attitude. And then they laugh at stories about chasing bums from said cafe with bats. And yes I've seen that happen.
It's the mentality that causes are great and wonderful, and as long as it's a show and you can brag about it, you should go do your protesting, but there's no reason to apply your beliefs to your every day life. A mentality I see far too much of every day.

I believe Icy was just pointing out MiB's hasty generalization. Or at least one of them. Note the "never."

Yes, I agree with you MaAS. Yuppies suck. I'll admit I've never seen the bats, though.

Did you know that the poor donate more of their income to charity than the rich? My source: A Time/CNN poll.

You mean you're comparing Icy to Treespeaker?

As for the pic itself:
Damn, and I was planning to use that, myself.

Strange, though, Arnold isn't even American, so he can't ever be president.
