The world would be better off if no-one lost.
It is considered efficient and good if utility (or welfare) is maximised. However, those who are made better off by making someone worse off are also made worse off because it also decreases their utility/welfare to make someone else worse off. If both are made worse off it is inefficient for it is possible to have a higher level of utility as shown by the previous higher level.
So, if one were to lose, it would decrease one's utility/welfare, for in losing one is made worse off. Therefore in my losing, the entire world loses.
