Scientific fact. People are less likely to say their really harsh criticisms to the other person's face.

This of course doesn't apply to you since you are not a person.

I'll note that my comment was a general anti-women one, and that the best thing about Sore Thumbs is the Poe fanart

other than that i've only really read it due to it being part of the forum activity, not through any 'must see what happens' reflex that is really needed in a comic

the comment about everything seeming to strain towards a punchline makes sense to me, that'll be the 'writing' part i guess. ppl with crap art can get away with it due to good writing, the other way around rarely does too well i find...

I'll note that apparently many of us believed Crosby was the artist.

Had ten shots of Jack last night. No floss but I sure did feel good then... until I woke up. Ow....

Why must I be all but immune to painkillers?

I hope I'm not the only one who finds this thread completely pointless. I mean, except for Poe's gracious fanart, this is just a bunch of people angry at someone else because of their own opinions. What are we? Politicians?

"Sore Thumbs" might not deserve the kind of respect as of yet that Poe's comicking musters, but it does deserve respect. Somebody's out there trying to entertain, and in this reader's opinion, he's succeeding. I like "Sore Thumbs" almost as much as "Exploitation Now" (if I'm permitted to voice my opinion on the matter) and I'm going to continue reading both "Sore Thumbs" and "Errant Story", because they're both a hell of a lot better than MY comic. We need not choose just one. You all obviously haven't!

Just to clarify, I'd only read the first 7 pages when I posted that. It would seem that there are a few of you who share my point of view, so I want to make sure you know I wasn't lashing out at you.

Anyway, I'm glad to have finally found a bg enough reason to start posting here. See you all around.

Edit: I also wanted to ask how someone can form such a vivid opinion of a comic that's only a few strips in. Shouldn't we all like wait until they reach the 20-comic mark before declaring them unworthy of viewing?

I don't know if I was actively lurking enough on the board (pre registration) to give the specific links and quotations, but the Author of Sore Thumbs is also the writer for several previous comics and has a tendancy of badmouthing Poe. Either way, it's not my job to recap the history of Kyhm's feudin' (I'm not in Virginia anymore) so I summon the nearest historian elder to arrive in a pretty smoke filled entrance supported by four pedants all being carried by a hatmongerer on stilts and fill the lazy ones in.

Lol, didn't even know this was referring to me! The "jethelred" is J. Ethelred, so "Jet" kinda threw me off.

And I wrote the message without any links, then figured since I mentioned it, and someone asking about it wouldn't be an uncommon occurrence, I threw the link in there to boot. I know it's not very classy, but it seemed SO right at the time.

I don't really mind you not clicking. Like I said, the two topics of this thread deserve it much more than my endeavor.

About the best thing in the comic so far is the cute little bear that just popped up. But that mostly goes to the actual drawer (I thought it was a teddy bear at first...), I suppose.

As for not respecting the comic, I doubt its happening that way you think it is. Everyone here offered up very good arguments on the last pages (and crosby even posted). Perhaps reading those pages now would have let you see why people are not liking the comic (myself included). A few laughs, fine, but I get laughs lots more on other comics.

Edit: Btw, I find it saddening that some comics feel its necessary to draw in with visual appeal over story. Especially sex appeal. How many less people would Sore Thumbs drawn in with just a picture of the brother (Fairbanks), instead of the porn star looking Cecania. (Though i like her braids...)

If you're talking about webcomics, just one, really.

If I ever badmouthed Poe (and I can't think of an instance when I might've), it was certainly not my intention. I'm his publisher (I'm Co-CEO of Keenspot Entertainment and run the print publishing division), so it's not in my best interests to be on his bad side. Regardless, I like and respect both his work and him in general.

It's all good!

As do I. More than just forum drama, I hate unproductive forum drama that is entirely pointless, like this.

So, thread closed. Issues? Problems? Take it up with me via the Usual Channels.
