Does this mean that it's an MMO that doesn't have an incorporated monthly fee? Because that sounds like summer fun to me.

It means that someday soon, you'll be getting your ass constantly handed to you by a player who actually pays for the expansions every month they come out. It's a perpetual cycle.

Actually I doubt it. I think that the expansions will add content not power.

New skills that dominate old skills, probably, and the only way to combat such new skills will be in the expansion. Heh. At least when they first come out.

It's always the way with expansions. However, GW not having a monthly fee will make paying for the expanisons justified moreso than other MMORPGs.

I have all EQ expansions up to LDoN or LoY (can't remember which came last) and I don't even friggin play the game anymore.

That's money wasted, man. Money wasted.

This is my typical belief as well it was the same way with damn near everything that has expansions and such.

However with the way they've balanced and crafted the game I have alot of confidence in their abilities to avoid most of this pitfall. Als with the way the game runs just having the skill doesn't mean jack for the most part. Think of this of more a squad based strategy game mixed with a roleplaying game than a massive online hack and slash like every other one out there (That I know of mind you)

The promise has been that not buying the expansions will not make you less competitive. Also, you can still access expansion areas by invitation from a friend, so if your friends get the expansion and you don't, it doesn't mean you can't play with them still.

If i wasn't in such strife trying to get good grades for my finals in October/November i'd be playing it right now.

Well, a way to do that would be to have specific battle areas that only people with up to such and such expansion can go to. Once they upgrade, they can no longer go there OR! they can no longer use the skills they obtained through the latest expansion.

And all elementalists like to shake their asses and belly dance, at least the females. This game is quite the unhealthy addiction. At least I have a few friends that are going down with me.

Just buy it so we can all start circling around you while chanting "One of us! One of us!."

Phew...
Makes me glad I'm back to using a computer so ancient it has trouble playing my SNES emulator. That and MMORPG's kind of scare me for some weird reason.

My computer isn't ancient, but it does have problems playing SNES emulators, in which a horizontal line about 10 pixels wide or so shifts randomly and annoyingly.

Actually... it does this for any emulator. ::shrug:: I think my computer just hates me, though.

Interesting. I may have to look into this if people are still playing in September.

If you're still looking for a game that might possibly compete, i suggest trying City of Heroes. I played with the character creator alone for about 8 hours.

Err... It hit our stores back on the 2nd. The only place that is allowed to carry it is EB, though.
