Hrm. Actor, you're well versed in the EU side of Doc Who, right? The books and such? Iirc, the last time we saw the Emperor Dalek in the tv series (which was when the Armada got destroyed, I believe), it wasn't actually the Emperor, it was Davros' animated head within an Emperor shell, and the original Emp had been destroyed. The only other "leader" was the Black Dalek? I think. So... uh... Wha? How can the Emperor be back, and stuff? Where is my Davros? :( |

So... uh... Wha? How can the Emperor be back, and stuff? Where is my Davros? :( Just to answer this question first before I do anything else: I've read a lot of the Doctor Who books, in fact all of the ones in my high school(they had a shelf), but most of them are from the First to the Fifth Doctor, and very little of the fifth at that and there wasn't much EU there either. I tried to read some of the EU stuff but could never get into it, mostly because it was a bit confusing as I'd not had much experience with the later Doctors and their assistants(outside of the novelisation of "The Curse Of Fenric" the best Doctor Who book of all time). I do however have a Doctor Who encyclopedia(best birthday present ever, including that Hankie I got a few years back). It says that in Rememberance of the Daleks the Dalek Rebel faction(lead by the Supreme Dalek) tried to destroy the Imperial Daleks(lead by the Emperor, Davros). The Rebel leader self-destructed after finding out that Skaro(the Dalek homeworld) was dead from a supernova caused by the Doctor using the Hand of Omega and his faction was destroyed with him. The Emperor, Imperial Daleks and the battle Daleks were killed when their mother-ship was destroyed(I'm not sure how that happened however). Both factions were after the Hand of Omega which would give them Tardis level time travel (as opposed to their currently primitive time travel) and the ability to destroy/manipulate suns at will to generate power(which is how Omega and Rassilion first began their experiments in time travel which led to the Time Lord culture). Most likely this action, the Masters constant betrayal of the Daleks, the Doctors manipulation of their history(Genesis of the Daleks in which the Fourth Doctor went back to the dawn of Dalek culture and ensured that Davros would survive the original assasination attempt on him leading the Daleks down a mediocre future in which his personal goals and ambitions often outweighed the Dalek goal of killing every motherfucking thing in the universe) and the Time Lords overall arrogance lead to the great Time War which lead to the destruction of Gallifrey(note in the EU books there was a different reason for Gallifrey's destruction, one of the Doctors Companions did it somehow, I've not checked up the details).
