I finally saw Episode 3... It was a decent movie (best of the new trilogy at least) but it left me wanting more.

So while I assume that there are novel versions of episodes 1-6 are there novels for episodes 7-9?

I had no idea there is supposed to be something like Episodes 7-9. As far as I know the novelizations of 1-6 are available as addendums to the movies. I know there are novels set after RotJ that brings in more depth to the Skywalker and Solo families as well as new enemies beyond the dying Empire but I wouldn't exactly call them Episodes in Canon with the Movies.

Of course I still haven't seen 1 or 3, was dragged against my will to 2 and occasionally will watch 4-6. Anything beyond that I've pretty much gleaned from SW Nuts on the Net.

It is pretty much agreed that 7-9 is the Thrawn trilogy. Timothy Zahn is a sexalicious author, and we should all bear Thrawn's alien babies.

And just what is the Thrawn Trilogy perchance? Is that dealing with Palpatine rising from the ashes and Luke turned to the Dark Side in hopes of getting close enough to kill him?

Ohnoes, that's the Dark Horse "Dark Empire" series, which is pretty fucking horrible, and makes me punch babies. Y'know, more than usual.

Thrawn Trilogy is:
Heir to the Empire
Dark Force Rising
The Last Command

All by Bantham Books, iirc. Basically Grand Admiral Thrawn of AWESOME has taken over the militarial campaigns of the dying Empire, and being the awesome alien-man he is, is bitch-smacking shit about. A rather insane Jedi Master named Jorus C'boath is helping him, on the condition that he will get the Skywalker heirs (Leia and Han's twin children, Jaina and Jacen) to mold into a new type of Jedi.

It also has Luke's future wife, Mara Jade, the ex-Emperor's Hand, who is trying to carry out the last order of Palpy, and kill our Jedi Hero. They quite rock.

Ahhh...Ok then.

Like I said, I haven't really delved that much into Star Wars compared to Star Trek. Then I started seeing more and more the Socialist currents running through the Federation's actions and ideals and sort of turned me off Star Trek.

Now, I'm all about the new Battlestar Galactica, B5, Farscape and Stargate SG-1/Atlantis.

There was one book that happened right after Jedi. I forgot which it was... Luke spends most of the book in a chair laid up from getting his ass zapped so hard. The rebels and some empire remnants defend some planet from some strange invading force with a droid army.

However the Thrawn trilogy was the best spin-off series. I read it when I was in 4th grade.

I wouldn't say Thrawn is the -best-. I really loved Anderson's Jedi Academy trilogy, and all things considered, New Jedi Order is fucking sweet. Anakin Solo = THE MAN.

For some reason I've not been able to get into the new Battlestar.
I don't know why that is, I just can't seem to sit down and watch it for more than ten minutes before I get bored.

B5 still rocks however.

As for SWe7-9, I would say that the Thrawn series sounds about right in terms of what I would sit down and watch at the movies.

Note: They should have let me write the Prequels, I would have freakin' burned them.

This reads a bit like a Frank Herbert Dune book now I look at it.

Example, just off the top of my head:

First Movie, the same opening in the space station until they land on Naboo.
Except Obi-Wan isn't a Padwaan, he's a fully fleged Jedi having passed the trials given by his teacher Yoda, he now works with Yoda's favourite student Qui-Gon(I was going to write down Count Dooku instead of Qui-Gon, that would be pushing it a little too far).
Now Jar-Jar is a traitor/spy working for the Naboo government, not a bumbling fool, who got exiled from the swamp by his people for his treachery, hes now a more cunning sociopath willing to lie cheat and steal to stay alive. Try selling that at Toys 'R' Us.
He gets Qui-Gon and ObiWan into Naboo through the hidden tunnels the Naboo governement established for spies and as an escape hatch in emergencies. Amidala refused to escape letting her government members flee down it instead. She meets up with the Jedi and the Gungan traitor who she knows as a friendly. They escape through the tunnels after convincing her that petitioning the senate will do more than her noble sacrifice ever could achieve.

Anakin is about 15, and he isn't on Tattoine he's on a new planet that is no longer under republic control(new government is corrupt and failing after being abandoned by its Republic administration) which is mostly an ice world except for the city he lives in which has an artificial sun suspended above it. He's still a slave who was bought to this world after his father sold him and his mother into slavery to pay for his debts. Only to suffer a massive heart attack after signing over his son(Anakin was only four, killed his own father with the force, Damn I'm awesome).
Anakins mother was reunited with him only months earlier and they live under a less strict owner than his previous ones who he doesn't talk about. He still works at a mechanic and builds parts. He did not build C3PO.
His racing skills are from working as a courier for the Hutts back on his last planet.

Midi-Chlorians are a bacteria that feed off cells in organisms particularly strong with the force, they don't cause the force, they are like Gravity and Black Holes, they just show you that they are there. People with high Midi-Chlorians aren't guaranteed to have the Force either and people with low amounts aren't precluded from being Jedi, its just a useful indicator for finding potentials.
Anakins is higher than most full Jedi.

The Pod Race is still there, but it has Anakin being just a vicious as everyone else and its in the middle of a city and it like most other races is to the death so Anakin has probably already offed a few competitors before meeting the Jedi who bet on him winning, but then have the choice of buying the part for their ship or his mothers freedom.
Without telling him the Jedi buy the part and his mother, unaware of their choice, lets them take her son away for a better life.

The Trade Federation is seen as blockading Naboo to bring attention to the issues they are raising not for the sake of invasion itself(aside from capturing their main city) and is trying to peacefully withdraw and save face after an internal coup removed the faction that decided on the invasion. The Coup was organised by Darth Sidious, the invasion organised by Dooku.
Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan do the same stuff on Corosant bringin him before the Jedi Council except this time it is Dooku who fights the hardest to have Anakin denied entry not Yoda who wishes to trial the boy for some time to learn whether he is worthy or if he is a threat. Dooku convinces the rest of the Jedi to follow his lead and they deny Anakin his position.

The Senate meeting goes the same way with Palpy being made president before Amidala goes home to fight, (Jar-Jar testifies alongside Amidala and provides videos and evidence which is promtly ingnored or Veto'd by the President).
The Senate vote to send Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan and the Rest of the Naboo delegation back to Organise a cease fire and then a withdrawl from Naboo of the Federation ships.(The Federation now lead by the moderate faction had already withdrawn their main fleet).
Amidala plans to use this opotunity to strike back at the Federation instead and convinces Anakin to talk the Jedis into Liberating her city and then negotiating from a position of Strength instead of walking into another trap like the first time. That the enemy is mostly robotic helps convince them as killing them isn't considered a bad thing.

Dooku tells Qui-Gon to watch the child before they leave for Naboo as he can sense great anger in him. At the same time also asking the Council to allow him to go with them, they refuse to allow two of the highest members of the Jedi order to be in a war zone that doesn't directly threaten the republic at the same time. Also they refuse because the Senate only permitted the party to return, not Dooku.

On the trip over Qui-Gon tries to teach Anakin the "Floating ball with the lasers versus LightSabre" game and Anakin promptly destroys the ball by throwing the Sabre at it, declaring himself the winner.
R2-D2 is on board and cleans up the mess, that is all he does in the movie.

Jar-Jar sneaks them into his home city where he pledges to kill himself if they can't overthrow the droids within the next day cycle.
Darth Maul fight is untouched because that was the best bit.
Anakin still blows up the station, except he saw people in front of him and fired on them anyway without emotion or remorse killing them and accidently blowing up the station disabling the tactical computers running the Droid armies manouvers and advanced weapons systems leaving them working at half their efficiency and making the Gungans battle a lot easier.

Jar-Jar in the battle, which reaches the city streets and tears all the way through to the Capital buildings of Naboo takes command of a Tank and destroys the Headquarters of the Naboo Intellegence Department, his former employees.
The Gungans are victorious and the City is now free.
The Droid numbers are smaller because the Trade Federation was withdrawing and the Gungans allow Jar-Jar to live and as a reward for their service to the Kingdom of Naboo the Gungans are given the choice to the new ambassador to the Senate, effectivly handing them a significant amount of control over Naboo, they select Jar-Jar in part to get rid of him and in part because he's the biggest rat-cunning bastard of all of them and they know he'll screw over any other planet(and if needed the human Naboo's) to achieve their goals. He pledges a life debt to uphold their interests in the Senate.

End of the movie,
Dooku, saddened by the lose of Qui-Gon and disgusted by the political control the Senate had over the Jedi leaves the Jedi order and returns to his home planet to resume the title of Count(during the movie he was simply known as Dooku).

Yoda allows Skywalker to join the Padwaan. But warns him of the dangers ahead, Anakin tells Yoda that he is afraid of what he might do if he loses control, but he's more afraid that his gift might go wasted if he doesn't use it to its fullest. He makes Yoda promise him to kill him if he does fall to the Dark Side, and also makes Yoda promise not to tell Obi-Wan about his weakness and fears.

The Federation's moderate leaders were all on the ship that Anakin destroyed having gathered to negotiate the withdrawl.
The remnants of the more Militant group regains control of the Federation and prepares itself for war against the Republic, their Corporate Headquarters is on Dooku's home planet, they put through a call to him telling him that all is in readyness.

Jar Jar, now firmly in position on the Capital puts through a call to his former minder from his spy days, a spy master code-named Sidious and tells him that it will soon be safe for him to return to his homeworld as the threat is no longer in place and the records have been cleaned.

This lead us to the second movie:
The War has already broken out in some areas with Guerilla forces acting in the name of both sides trying to overthrow regional governments. Terror attacks have rocked Courosant already and the Government has assumed some greater powers in response to this threat.

There is an assasination attempt on Amidala who is now the Junior Ambassador of Naboo, a popular figure she is trying to prevent the war between the Federation and Republic that she only now realises is partly her fault with the attack on the Federation base in the first movie.

Anakin and Obi-Wan are good friends, but their relationship is strained with Obi-Wan only looking after Anakin out of guilt over Qui-Gon's death(Qui-Gon died saving Obi-Wan) and Anakins anger at not being given more responsibility to match his power levels.

Anakin is good friends with the President who gives him advice on various topics such as philosophy and the use of the force in everyday life.
He's slowly corrupting him while at the same time encouraging him to persue his love of Amidala, which she knows nothing about.
Anakin keeps having strange dreams about his mother dying, he confides in Obi-Wan about these and Obi-Wan seems unconcerned, never having had a family himself outside of the Jedi order. He tells Anakin that Death is simply a way to become one with the force.

Anakin being told to hide her somewhere that the assasins can't get to here, somewhere that no-one would look, so he takes her to some of his old homeworlds from his slave days, most pro-seperatist few there would recognise her, let alone wish her harm as its pro-republic forces that are attempting to kill her, or so they believe.

Jar-Jar is now the sole Ambassador for Naboo and holds both votes in the Senate. He contacts Naboo where the Gungans now play a major part in the society instead of being outcasts. The discovery of various powerful medicinal spices and other minerals under the Gungan sea have opened up a whole new industry on Naboo and made the Gungans richer than they were before.
Jar-Jar uses his political connections to hire Jango Fett, a bounty hunter whose cousin lives on Naboo, to hunt down and protect Amidala in case the Jedi guarding her fails.

Getting to the last world that he lived on Anakin discovers that his mother was sold on to a Hutt clan and decides to go after her and use his newly learnt Jedi Mind control to gain her release and be together again. Amidala joins him, and their relationship grows tighter.
He also learns from his previous owner that Qui-Gon, the only person he's ever truely respected in the Jedi order, choose to leave his mother behind in exchange for an engine part.

Amidala learning that many planets on the outer rim of the Galaxy don't want the republic or care about the senate because they don't have any impact on their lives and that the enemy she's been fighting all these years thinking they were some kind of Dictatorship might actually have a valid point after all.

Obi-Wan, put in charge of hunting the Assasin is taken off the case by Mace Windu(on orders from the Senate) and told to hunt down a mole that is feeding information to Count Dooku and the trade Federation. Finding some interesting connections Obi-Wan goes to the Kimino homeworld(after visiting Dex's Diner to get a translation on some old data communications he found) after the connection between the two.

On the Kimino homeworld he finds that Dooku was put in charge of building a massive Clone army before he left the Jedi order and that despite his leaving it they never rescinded the order and as a result this whole army had been sitting there for the last five years without any orders.

The army is based on the DNA of a bounty hunter called Jango Fett who lives on Kimino with his Son Bobba Fett, Bobba's mother was the Human ambassador to Kimino and died in Childbirth. Bobba was born sick but genetic theraphy by the Kimino's saved him.

Obi-Wan orders Jango to return to Courosant to explain this situation to the Jeid council but Jango just got a contract to protect Amidala(which is doesn't mention) and is honour bound to it.
He disables Obi-Wan's ship, fights him and wins and then escapes to hunt Amidala down.

Finding evidence of Jango having spoken to Dooku more recently than five years ago, as well as several communications with a known seperatist leader called General Grevious, Obi-Wan decides to take matters into his own hands and heads to a neutral planet near Dooku's homeworld after informing the Jedi council of the existance of the Army.
Dooku had told the Senate, via a messanger, that he would only hold negotiations there and they would be assured of safety while on that planet. He had established his base of operations there but had no soldiers at all stationed on-world.

In the senate the President gets Jar-Jar to put foward a motion to allow the government to seize any and all useful military assets not claimed by any member government to be used in possible future conflicts.

After Anakin and Amidala leave his old world(the Ice one) pro-republic terrorists attack and collapse the artificial suns gravity boosters causing it to fall onto the city and burn the surface of the planet Hoth until there is nothing left living there.

The Attack on Hoth brings the Seperatists groups closer together and they plan to attack the Republic to prevent another attack. On Kyshyk the Wookies begin a revolution as the slavers that run their world lose their mercenary army to the better paying Seperatists and Republic.

Anakin is unconcerned with the deaths of the people he once knew, claiming that they only thought of him as a slave even when he was a god(or Jedi as the case may be).
Amidala becomes afraid of him, but still finds herself falling for him and loving him just a little bit more every time they are together.

Anakin arrives at his mothers new home, Tatooine and promptly hunts her down to a moisture farm where she has married her new husband and has a step-son and step-daughter in law.
Anakin offers to take her away from this simple world and show her the universe.
She rejects him, saying that she is happy where she is and that her life is complete now that he has returned.
As he and Amidala make to leave Tuscan raiders attack the homestead as Anakin can only sit by and watch while trying desperately to land(the Raiders were attracted to the Ship they bought with them, hopeing to make a killing salavaging it), he cuts a hole in the ship with his sabre and attacks with abandon the incomming raiders.
During the fight he kills his step-father accidently when deflecting a blast from a Tuscan rifle, his mother dies moments later when the raiders jump her and cut her throat.
Anakin kills them all using just the force, cutting blood vessels in their brains he cripples them and sends them to hell.

Jumping into their ship Anakin pilots it until he finds the Tuscan villiage that the raiding party had come from and he destroys it all in a few minutes of wonderfully cherographed carnage.

Amidala, who'd stayed back to try and help the wounded, tries to help him but he refuses to talk about it. They bury his mother, his step-father and burn the raiders bodies.

Jango Fett arrives at about this time, having been caught trying to escape Hoth he was delayed for several days before getting to Tatooine. He followed Anakin to the villiage and watched the destruction but tried not to let his son see it. Not wanting a future like his for his son.

Anakin, later while going over the ship logs of the attack, notices the ship watching him and searches for it, hoping to remove the evidence and witness to his attack.

Jango and Anakin fight, with Anakin hurting the bounty hunter before Fett escapes going to a neutral planet near Dooku's homeworld.

Anakin and Amidala follow, Anakin lying saying that an assasin followed them out here and that they have to follow him because they can prove now that The Seperatists might be behind the attacks on her.

Jar-Jar meanwhile is doing research into the President and discovers that his records are all forged and that he doesn't seem to have any real history. Digging deeper he finds that there is some connection to the Jedi High Council and the President.
Thinking this is part of a ploy by the Jedi to gain more power Jar-Jar attempts to befriend assorted members of the High Council.

The Assassins who tried to kill Amidala kill the leader of the Senate(a seperate position to the President) in a firebomb attack in which the President is wounded. Terrorist attacks break out among the Seperatist worlds and the Seperatist fleet gathers in space to strike.
A retalatory attack on Naboo kills the new Queen and the Gungan Bom-Boss.

Obi-Wan upon arriving discovers two very important things, firstly the Neutral world he is on isn't neutral it has been building attack droids for the last five years and storing them there, secondly the seperatist attack fleet is on its way to pick up its shock-troops.
He communicates this to Yoda first and then the Senate during which he is captured by a seperatist patrol.

Jar-Jar moves to give greater authority to the President for the duration of the Emergancy as well as acquire the Clone army for immediate deployment. Speaking of the loss of his worlds two most beloved leaders at the hands of these monsters.
The Senate, terrified of a direct assult on their worlds agrees and the President, still in bandages and using a cane, makes his little "I love democracy" speach and promises that Obi-Wan's life will not be spent in vain, declaring the comming war is in honour of him.

Amidala watching it all from the ship in Hyperspace breaks into tears and she and Anakin hold each other knowing that they are going into the heart of the battle and that someone close to both of them has just died.

Cue implied Sex scene.

They use a cloaking field purchased back on Hoth(one of several attempt by the two in trying to elude their assassins) they land near the production facilities. From there on its pretty much the same deal as the conveyer belt section of the second movie, minus R2D2 and C3PO.

Anakin, Amidala and Obi-Wan are captured and locked up together. Dooku reveals that Fett and he were working together to draw Amidala and Anakin to this world.
Amidala is there to act as a hostage and Anakin to act as a convert, the most powerful Jedi at the Academy working on their side would be a massive asset in the comming war.
Fett reveals he was hired by Jar-Jar to protect Amidala from assasins, not kidnappers, so his honour is still intact at this point. Fett also congratulates Anakin on his destruction of the Tuscan villiage.

Fett reveals, after Dooku leaves, that he is working for both sides, that someone in the Senate calling himself Sidious kept him on board at Kimino to make sure the Clone Army was perfect and well trained, in exchange he would work to revive Fetts wife who was put into Cryostasis and didn't die.
Dooku believes that the Clone army project was cancelled and that he plans on making enough money working for both sides during the war to retire and keep his son out of this business when he grows up.

After hearing about the incomming Republic fleet the seperatist high command demand the deaths of the prisoners and the arming of the fleet.
Dooku sentances them to death in the Arena(because a fucking bullet each and a simple bill to the family for it is just too much goram effort).

At this point the story follows the movie until the very end.
Except that Jango fights Mace Windu while trying to get his son the the exit of the Building, dying in the process.

At the end....
The Seperatist fleet evacuated the planet with most of their army intact, several factories were already launching when the Clones landed, so their ability to fight is only marginally reduced.

The clone fleet flew to Dooku's home world and burnt the capital city to ash. Almost three million lives are lost in a moment. The fleet returns to the Republic and begins hostilities against the Seperatists.

Obi-Wan and Anakin can barely speak to one another, Anakin because of what Obi-Wan did to his mother and Obi-Wan because Anakin has fallen in love(something that Obi-Wan knows he will never have) and because of the destruction by Anakin of the Tuscan villiage.

Anakin and Amidala return to Naboo and try to hold the planet together while elections are being held. They get married in secret.

Jar-Jar becomes increasingly suspicious of the President when he finds records showing that he(under another name back when he worked for the Naboo Intellegence Service) and Dooku once were very close friends.

Yoda and Mace Windu begin the task of comanding the war effort. Worried that thier ability to forsee the future is gone, that the darkside must be in control of the Seperatists and growing in power.

The President, still wounded, contacts Anakin and tells him that the war is starting and that he has to leave Amidala and help command the comming war efforts.
Anakin leaves Amidala in the middle of a ruined Naboo, going to serve what he thinks is the greater good.

Dooku, seeing his homeworld destroyed understands finally what is going on, contacting his master Sidious and telling him that their relationship is now over.
He is now playing to win.

The Third movie, well thats just obvious(I've run out of steam)

Anakin goes to the dark side.
All the jedi die.
Luke is born.
C3PO says something slightly campy.

The End.
