Uh, there was no KKK in the 1880's.
The Original Klan was created by Confederate Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest in Pulaski, Tennessee in 1866. Even thought it was killed off for the most part with the Klan Acts of 1871, that only refers mostly to the over-riding organization. They do rise up again in the 1920's, get their own movie (Birth of A Nation) and have a nice Million Sheet March in Washington. As we all know, the Klan survives. Even if there's no organization, the individual cells did then, do now, and unfortunately will continue to operate independently.
So historically, "Blaster Knuckle" can be constued as potentially valid...even the shape-shifting, flesh-consuming, vampiric side of the Klan is potentially valid. That info's kept hidden with the individual Klovens and you need a special decoder ring to get the info within the Kloran. It does explain quite well how the Klan has survived. It may not exactly pass Occam, but I like this version so this will be my "reality."
