I've just finished reading a book entitled The Distant Land of My Father by Bo Caldwell. I bought it only on impulse, but...
I can't remember ever being so moved by a book. I highly recommend it to anyone who would care to read it, especially those with an interest in asian history or China before, during, and after the second world war. More than any other book I've read on the subject (either voluntarily or by assignment), this one left me really feeling as though I could understand.
So, yeah. Go read it.
