I guess my problem with your comic is that is that I'm having trouble discerning the depth of objects in a scene. I think you also need to spend some more time blending your 2D elements with your 3D elements, they look slightly better than a quick cut and paste but still need work.

Your textures are rather bland and a little too clean. For example your battle suits are rather clean and they are in a war which just seems rather silly. Maybe check out some warhammer artwork to get an idea on how to make things a bit more worn in. Your textures are rather low res in certain areas and stretched out and blurred, try using some seamless tiling and adjust your mapping.

Some of the actor photos you use have a good deal of grain to them and you have them right next to uber clean elements, I suggest getting better res photos of them and cleaning them up or adding a similar grain to the rest of the scene.

Other than that, I think you'll figure out the exact visual style your going for and just keep practicing and improving.

It's without saying, it could use a brush up in areas (See Tamayo's post), but it is definitely something I want to see more of. The use of 3-D and photography works out well..the faces add an eerie dose of humanity to your classic comic book approach. My love of books like Starship Troopers make my opinion a bit biased I suppose. Sticking magic and space opera together could be tricky, but seeing your work so far makes me curious about how things will turn out.

Much luck.

Right right. One 'p' in opionion. Got it. Did I mention I can't spell?

So do you guys think that an intro page for each battle with a description and pictures of the factions and a top down view of the battlefield with locations pointed out would do the trick?

Absolutely not.
That's most often the worst possible kind of storytelling. A recap at the beginning of an issue is sometimes helpful, but if you can't tell the story straight through at all, you might as well write a fake history or something and leave it at that. A comic book story is supposed to be just that, and extraneous text is just distracting and boring. PLEASE DO NOT DO THAT.
Here, read Sublunary:http://sublunary.comicgen.com. Notice how hard it is to discern any sort of plot story, or explicit setting without reading ACRES of bios and histories. This is not storytelling. It's a record of your personal rpg, and barely intended for an external audience.
The nice thing for you, because you have a webcomic, is that you can edit and re-write a little bit before you get yourself into anything monsterously unintelligible. Yes, it takes longer, but you get to make it perfect.

I'm thinking more a Star Wars style intro 'the story so far' racap. Possibly with little character icons so people know who is who. Nothing in exhaustive detail, just a quick "...last time on Crossover..." and then a topdown view of the battlefield with a sentance or two description.

What are your thoughts on the website design? I'm thinking of completely reworking it.

Placement's all right.
I'd put the comic on the first page, if that's th focus of your website: people can be unbelievably lazy, even with only one required click.
The banner and icon animation/glowyness is distracting. Make them more neutral. Seriously, get rid of the animation. No one needs animated banners. No one. This is a graphic designer speaking. No animated banners.

I'd consider putting the comic on the front page, but I want people to see the banners, and I don't want them on the same page as the comic... hmmmm...

there's a banner above the comic.
You should leave it shiny, it looks nice, but no animation.

What did you say?

I'd say that is indeed an improvement over the old one. Good job. You may want to tone down some of those lighting effects, like the one in the crater on the nightside. It draws my focus to it rather quickly than to your text links. Although I think drawing your readers attention to certain things and have a natural flow from one element to the other or to one specific point is more advertisement related and not sure if it really needs to be applied to your menu system.

*I'll edit this butchery of the English language later.

Very pretty work, but waaaay too much for an interface.
You want interfaces to be neutral, so people don't get distracted away from the CONTENT.

Ern. What if I brought the contrast and saturation on the background way down but kept the text the same?

<edit> something like this?

That is far more natural looking and actually easier to look at. My only concern would be that the side menus are turned just a little too far towards the center.

Whatabout the idea of having two versions of the interface, one fantasy, one sci-fi? Which one would load would be random, and there would be a toggle button.

The look you have it is perfect. Just open up the specific navs and you're set.
