Admittedly I DLed firefux for exactly this reason. So I didn't have to deal with the irritating shenanigans of script kiddies.

I still use IE for most stuff, I just prefer it. Doesn't make me a bad person. Its not like I payed for it.

My question is why is Goth Alice a mod if she's going to do this kind of stuff?

I'm kinda curious what would happen in Firefox if the constraints limiting it to IE were lifted. Cause yeah, I'm sure scripts directly targeting IE and only IE will not cause Firefox to crash, so FIREFOX MUST BE MORE DEPENDABLE LAWLZ.

Naw, I was pissed because I thought we weren't supposed to click the link inside the thread, not the thread itself. So when I clicked it, BAM, no browser.

Mkay, kinda irked now. So I asked why. I got a retarded response for a perfectly reasonable question.

Then I came to check said response. BAM, browser crashed, had to restart computer. Ryven's computer has quirks. By quirks, I mean retardation, but without the cool strength that comes with being retarded.

Not to mention GA's post sounded like some annoying browser elitist bullshit, of all the petty things, stupid things to be elitist about.

It's only petty when one of them doesn't contain enough security vulnerabilities to strain pasta with. Firefox isn't perfect and I'm slowly migrating to opera (although they finally fixed the retardded ass crash bug in FF) but it is less vulnerable than IE and the fact that it isn't integrated with the OS is a huge plus.

Eh, to each his own. Firefox pisses me off a bit. IE's been pretty reliable for what I do on the 'Net. Still doesn't justify crashing browsers (and consequently, computers >.<) because of a personal preference.

Alice crashed IE (admittedly, an older IE version) with a few paltry lines of Javascript. How reliable is that? And while it may not show up on many sites, the point is, it could.

I think the point she was trying to make is that IE has some pretty big flaws in it, and while saying "Lulz you can't view this page!" is an asshattery way of doing it, it doesn't make the point any less valid.

Also, Editplus (an editing tool with an integrated IE shell) doesn't cause it to crash... it just fails to load anything at all.

I think the point is being missed entirely here.

The point is that the people that still use IE on the board, any one of us, could have been working on something important and unsaved at the same time, thusly fucking what we were working on.

Things like goatse and tubgirl don't do that. They don't destroy term papers, or game design notes, or books being written. This however could.

Course, you're explanation was probably a bit more to-the-point than mine was.

This doesn't crash your computer? It just crashes IE. So unless your computer already has shit wrong with it or you're using some god awful online subscription word processor....

My computer doesn't even blink it just closes IE and goes on it's merry way.

Like I said before, my computer has all the quirks of being retarded, but without the coolness of retard strength. I dunno, no matter how many times I upgrade it, it still finds a way to fuck up once in a while in some obscure way. I think it's a talent of mine. >.<;

Somehow, the script shit tweaked something on my computer, and froze it. I dunno how, I know jack and shit about computers, but it happened. Not to mention that the script lingered for a while. Before the crash, even after I had visited other pages, come back to the board, and not gone into this thread, it would close my window. Or it would close it if I hit the back button.

I have random problems on my computer, but this shit only happens when someone fucks with code in forums. It's happened in DA before once or twice. But I pretty much agree with TSC and Wark. Regardless of the pros and cons of each browser, it was a pretty asshatted way to bring up a debate.

I think several people in this thread must be completely oblivious to the fact that there are some of us who don't give a damn about what are computer is running as long as we get to loiter about the internet when we're bored. Said people should not be excluded from viewing any of the threads on the forum because of personal preference. Hell, if I honestly gave a damn how my computer gets from point A to point B, I wouldn't be using a god awful mac.

In closing: This interwebs of ours is not just a big truck you can dump things in.
