I'd be cooler if more people with more heterogenous viewpoints were to post in the debate forum. I'll try to come up with a defensible oddball view I have and see if I can get it to explode - it's like the forum's designed for intelligent, logical trolls (yes, a contradiction in turn.) If we had someone who could argue convincingly for slavery/communism/politically correct garbage and actually appear logical and sane this forum would be awesome.

Well, I could argue convincingly for two of those three, but I'm sort of not in a debating mood as of late... Maybe later I'll come back to the debate forums and start some topic like "Why All Rich People Should Be Shot".

I'll start "Why all guilt-laden, sniviling, apologizing, girly white males should be start, beginning with Icy"

I ressurrected this thread because some people are forgetting the rules. Or just ignoring them. Maybe this will help them where their common sense lacks.

So you guys actually came up with rules for debate club.

I consider that to be just awesome, 'specially the way you formatted the rules.

The reason I sighed is because of a flagrant breaking of the rules that has yet to be enforced.

Most debates aren't meant to be insult wars, they're meant to be intelligent conversation between opposing sides of a topic.

In most cases its either to bring up facts that the other side was unaware of or to attempt to sway their opinion.

Neither of these go very well with verbal assault.

I do have an intrigueing idea for you.

Any debates that insults are gonna be thrown back and forth have it mentioned in the title.

Ex. (Name of Debate): British Parlaiment

Why Saddam Smells Like Poo: British Parlaiment

Why You Should Like Cheese: Flame War

Just like that. That way people know that insults are gonna be thrown back and forth along with the debate.

An idea to go with that is to designate a moderator that shows up in the debate club regularly to delete any insults found in debates.

This will quell the problem in a matter of days.

Its not censorship, its a troll leash.

Its like putting a shock collar on people with no tact... Or terrets syndrome.

Then maybe we can teach some people social skills.

But thats just the opinion of a third party outsider that has matured beyond petty name calling and that now has a job so he can afford a plane ticket and high powered rifle for anyone that insults his girlfriend.

I think everyone in prison who has confessed to a violent crime should be shot. Also I am for killing everyone who has sayed "God bless our troops" more than twice in one day.

There should be more people protesting protests.

But the problem is if the moderator actively engages in debates then he can't view from an objective standpoint. So we need someone who never posts but really cares about and reads the debate club religiously... Tough nut to crack.
