Recently, I read in a newspaper article that SARS may have come from Mars due to the american Mars Exploration. Also the Chinese Government hid SARS from the public, thus preventing any chance of containing the disease.

In your opinion, who's fault do you think it is for the SARS spread: The NASA Space agency for not decontaminating there Mars exploration equipment on return equipment, or China for hiding the disease.

This may have been mentioned before (I'm not sure if it has) but I brought this topic up because Toronto just got SARS outbreaks. How dfoes that happen when SARS was eradicated form TO?!

Dude, you are joking, right? SARS from Mars? That's ridiculous. Bessides, hey haven't gotten a successful trip back from Mars for a while, while SARS srpings up pretty quickly.

At any rate, you can't blame anyone for the rise of a new and infectious disease, unless you believe in God(s), then you can blame him/them all you like, but I don't think it'll make much difference. In this case, China is clearly at fault for trying to cover up the disease, but really, there's very little they could've done. Dense population combined with poor sanitation and health care kinda make it difficult to stem epidemics.

And by the way: They don't mean "We're one hundred percent sure that we've gotten every little bacterium" when they said they were finished in Toronto. It's not possible to get all of it for sure, they just got to the level where the chances were high that SARS was gone, and hoped for the best.

SARS most likely was an animal virus (pigs, cattle, something like that) which made the "jump" to being able to infect humans. The idea that it was from Mars is just idiotic. As for the Chinese government, it is partially their fault for concealing it, and thus allowing it to spread among unknowing populations.

As for who to blame, I'm going to have to go with the, "Nobody was to blame for the cause of the disease, but China was partially responsible for it's spread by covering it up, blahblahblah, etc, etc." crowd.

I was playing Deus Ex for the first time a few months ago, just a week after I started the SARS epidemic broke out.

Now that was creepy, it didn't help that I went kinda crazy after finishing New York and getting into Hong Kong. Watching the sporadic news reports I keep telling myself that it all the work of THEM and now I must fight THEM and stop the Zionists, the nazis, the illuminati, MJ12 and MiB. I was a little crazy.

SARS originated from either chickens or cows, I can't recall, but whatever newspaper article you read that said it originated from Mars (Okay, look, if it was called "The Onion", you are a fool for taking it seriously) was complete, utter, drooling, fucking bullshit.

Actually, there are theories that SARS is artificially created by the drug companies, along with AIDS, to control the population and produce a "new world order."

Supposedly the plan postulates that the world cannot unite into one governing body unless there is an outside threat which threatens the entire human race. If one could produce this, then you could also get the world into 1 government.

But, AIDS allegedly came from Gorillas then was translated to a gay man. since it is an STD then the guy must've fucked the a gorilla that had it.

Hm. Last time I heard, it originally came from a rhesus monkey. AIDs isn't just an STD, it can also be passed through blood.

Sarin and Mustard Gas are chemical, not biological weapons. Anthrax in a contagious form is hard to come by, as well. If you fail to see the implications of this, you are most likely ignorant, mentally deficient, or both.

As any high schooler (maybe because they are a high schooler) will tell you, HIV can be transmitted through blood, too. Therefore, there are other ways of getting AIDS than screwing somebody. Last theory I heard about how HIV was transmitted to humans (aside from certain stupid ones) was that some Africans ate some tasty tasty simian. Yum yum. And then came the (heterosexual, you'd think) screwing and transmission.

As for no cure, we're actually doing quite well on that front. Assuming you have the money and don't wuss out on your treatment (both big ifs) you can have a life expectancy maybe ten years shorter than your average person. There are about 20 drugs to combat AIDS, last I checked (though they are usually done in groups of five at a time). Though certainly not 100% effective, these drugs can raise one's CD4 cell count well back up to almost non-compromised levels (which is 400, I believe). To have AIDS, I think you have to have a count below 220, and/or two or more opportunistic diseases. A normal person's count is about 1200, I believe.

According to what I learned in biology seminar a few years back, they protein receptor that HIV attaches itself to is the same one that the bubonic plague does as well. Well, due to the lovely effects of evolution and the spread of the plague in northern and western Europe in the 1300s, some people started lacking the protein receptors due to a difference in a gene. If one had two matching genes, they would completely lack the receptor, thus making them impervious to the plague, and subsequently, HIV infection. So around 1 in every 100 people who can trace lineage back to northern and western Europe cannot contract either ailment. They can still be carriers, however. Its much the same way African people with one sickle cell gene are nearly immune to malaria. Those with two are untouchable by malaria, but have sickle cell anemia as a result. Also, I don't know for sure, so I will have to research, but I have been told that Magic Johnson is no longer HIV positive, meaning that something must have been found to deal with the virus, although the answer may be extremely expensive, thus it is not in widespread use...
