We need to get more n00bs. But there are considerations to be made.

There was a balance between all aspects. Porn/postwhoring/intellegence etc. This balance is getting out of wack. How do we correct it and improve this forum?

BTW, I believe that the initiation process is an excellant screening process for n00bs. It filters out the flawed. Trial by fire and all that.

More Love!

Sorry, I just had to say that, wouldn't feel right otherwise. Were are not going to get any n00bs in unrelated until the Grey incident dies down, but afterwards the Forums will live on, as always. We need to have serious Debate issues for awhile to boost our intelligence, wich is lacking from the absence of... some of greatest minds of this forum.

Much love and faith.

Initiation is kind of a turn-off now that it's gotten so... serious. It seems silly to write some long story filled with gross and vaguely sexual violence just because somebody on a forum is a fucktard. It's better just to level with them and tell them they're being a fucktard.

I agree... Initiating just doesn't have the fun and shit it used to

Firstly. Impartial mods, not to edit/delete posts randomly but just to keep things in check and use the power to pm people and such if there is minor disputes and talk some sense. I know there are currently two unlisted mod's for unrelated and IMO they have both abused said power in the past. The Baron for changing Icy's posts and Mibbers who, when DH accidentally linked to a large image as an avatar deleted any posts of hers he came accross because they disrupted his browsing experience. Understandable perhapse if she posted frequently and there were a large number of threads effected but a simple check of ppd indicates just how much she posts....

Linked in with the above I think there should be a mod made for this forum, seeing as the quality of threads and thread content seems to have taken a nose dive and often ends up being a flame match or popularity constest rather than actuall point of view being considered and then evaluated based upon the merit of the case put forth. Things seem to be getting too personal too often, I know I have done it on an occasion and certainly there are other who do it regularily. Personally I would much prefer it if everyone took a week break from the Debate forum to take stock and come back to actually debate with facts, figures, statistics and examples.

Initiations seem to have almost stopped and IMHO this is a bad thing in many respects. Back when I was lurking and then taking the first tentative steps onto this forum the initiation was an ingraned cultural oddity which defined us as different from alot of other similar forums. Over time though it changed into something alltogether different; rather than being something funny done as a welcome it changed into something to punish n00bs who infringed upon a set of intagible rules which later had to be chronicalled and put into a stickied thread. Frankly a bunch of "HELLO "U OMG IM NU HER PLZ BRING BAK BIMBONRALPH!!!111oneoneone LOLZ" would be preferable to the snobbery which spawned that thread, dispite this some good has come from it, and overall it does benefit the forum as a whole.

As for trolls like Grey. Ban them. If they refuse to follow the accepted social ettiquitte demanded of everyone else then why should we treat them as special? That is simply pandering to the troll's ego. Grey has had more chances then he deserver, I may not agree with the circumstances in which he was finally banned but I cannot say that I am not glad with the outcome either.

There were other issues I wanted to address when I began the process of transcribing what I am thinking into written form from the jumbled mess of ideas and interconnected concepts that fills my brain with mental static 24/7. In the process of doing so I lost my hold on some of these points.. I may re-address them later if they re-surface otherwise that is me done.

i agree with PTLIS on pretty much everything, and I do believe that Initations have indeed taken a turn for the worse, I think we can blame a really old one by Bishou that really sent it from "fun & lighthearted" to "how much can we hurt him?"

http://forums.kyhm.com/viewtopic.php?t= ... c&start=40

I *think* that's the one, but there may very well be more

but yea, we need to bring the level back to fun, maybe less ass raping

...cept for those who deserved it

also, I think that the process of creating a Mod would be best done with a nominate-then-vote process.

Only 1 nomination per person, and no self-nominating. Nomiations should be accepted by the nomenee, then, maybe after a good month, a full vote on all nominated.

My nomination? who better than THE Acolyte of Boredom, Wolf346.

things are being rectified.

people should approve. why? because the people will have power. and no, this does not mean Slashdot-style metamoderating.
