well...what can I say? It's fucking disturbing....

I hope those troops are happy. I hope those FUCKING "HEROS" are happy that they got themselves off on prisoner torture, and that a man, an INNOCENT American, had to die. Oh, you hear about the family? Yea. They get to live with the horror that their son's death is there to be an example. They know that millions of people can see their SON being forced to the ground, held down, and his head sliced off and held up like a goddamn trophy.

I also hope that President Bush gets this, and that he's not dulled to it... Because he needs to see what he has wrought upon INNOCENT, FUCKING, CIVILIANS. He still says "we want to better Iraq," but all I hear is "I'm wasting American lives for a good image." I hope he chokes on another pretzle and DOESN'T cough it out this time

This whole war has made me sick. GONE *moves to anti-war country...but not France*

...and Muad, I'm quite tempted to say take the Vid down, make it only available by PM w/ good reason or something, because that's GOING to be shared...and while it's there morbid curiousity will draw us to it...but people should not be able to just take it and go...

not something this horrible

I am quite certain that the abuse of prisoners was just an excuse for this. Besides, this is not as bad as those four who were killed, burned and dismembered a few weeks ago.

You just did not see the video of that.

This is true, I didn't see that video.

But I could have if they made one, posted it on their extremeist site, then curious little kids could have slowly spread it throughout the internet. These videos DO show the horrors of war. And it brings it home like no media could...

...hmm...yea, leave it up, I only hope we can find some hawks to show it to

And I really doubt that the prisoner thing was "just an excuse," even if it was, we're still at war, putting civilans down there and letting them get captured and killed for a fucking Vendetta war.

EDIT: fucking doulble negative put in there

I do not want to see the video, but I heard enough about it to give me nightmares for a while.

The sad thing is that people are happy (maybe happy isn't the right word but I can't find one better right now) about this and are blaming the idiot troops/president/anyone else they don't like for this. There is a big difference between cutting someone's head off and putting panties over someone's head.

they're Terrorists, not soldiers. they abducted a (Jewish American) civilian, made threats to kill him if he wasn't exchanged for a number of terrorists currently held by the coalition, then executed him when their demands weren't carried out, with the addition of a 'tit for tat' tagline just for extra effect. this is a terrorist action, not an act of war.

you guys are shocked because you haven't had much terrorist activity in your history, (at most the US gangster era could be classed as the closest) many other countries have, and are as such not quite so shocked or even surprised, that's what terrorists do after all, you know, terrorise...

just a note, the US Gangsters were defeated by the creation of the FBI and a hard crackdown on local and national crime, not by all bursting into tears and running away as fast as possible

Ehh...

I watched it. Didn't bother me in the least, to be honest. It was just...one of those things. They do this, some random dude gets killed, then we kill them in retaliation. I'm not surprised, to be honest, nor am I bothered by it...

Meh. I can't see how this is as big a deal as it's made out to be. They're going to do shit like this ANYWAY, the only difference is that now they're taping them.

*shrug*

Hmm. People don't seem to remember the decapitation video I showed over from Chechnya, do they? These terrorists are doing what they do best, and by people running away crying, they are getting just what they want.

by the way, the zone that the Spaniards have wussed out of is about to be occupied by 40 Commando, Royal Marines, the unit stationed a few miles from me

they'll wish the Spanish stayed once the Commandos start knocking on their doors...

edit: checking up on that i note they're sending in about 800 commandos and the SBS will supply members of Black Group from M Squadron. This force is to replace the 1300 or so cowardly Spainards in the city of Najaf, you know, the fortified city run by Muqtada al-Sadr and his millita

To be honest, I expected it to be just a single swipe, chop off your head guillatine (I'm sure I butchered the spelling on that) sort of thing. That looks like it hurt. A lot. You know, before he died and all.

And, the more I think about it, the more I know that there are probably people who've died much more gruesome deaths since the war began. So I don't know really what to say.

I do remember that, thankfully this was less graphic because of the poor quality of the (iraqi) encoding but that guy must've had the crappiest behedding ever... took nearly 45seconds to get his head off.

My one question (most else has been posted) is about the timestamp jump from the point that he pulls out the knife and the rampent blurring begins. Any ideas?

I was trained by two of those guys. They were going over to assist in training the Iraqi police forces in anti-terrorism measures.

Sad stuff, man. On the one hand, I gotta go with the people who are saying "Hey guys, this is one killing out of thousands and thousands due to terrorism." On the other hand, I have a lot of trouble going with the idea that all terrorists need is a good whippin' by our boys in the service, given that that's demonstrably ineffective. You can't take a firm stance with people who blow themselves up with a smile; their stance is going to be firmer by virtue of their total disregard for human life.

On the subject of the withdrawl of Spanish troops, I gotta say--how, exactly, do you think Eisenhower got elected here in America? He promised to get our troops out of Korea, because American voters were sick of their sons being stuck halfway around the world fighting for a cause they only half understood (containment being a new policy at that point). The Socialist party pulled basically the same stunt, with the train bombings loosely paralleling the intervention of China in Korea. Long and short of it is, governments tend to pull out of wars when popular support for the war vanishes (if they didn't, they wouldn't be very democratic, after all). So let's remember, when we complain about Spain, that that veritable pillar of democracy and champion of the world, the good old U.S. of A., has pulled out of armed conflicts before, and on a scale a lot larger than 1300 men.

Woah, gogo BDM, "people die horribly and grusomely, therefore we should pull out."

I think you get the 'naive motherfucker' award of the year there, I'm sure nobody else on the planet has ever thought of that.

This isn't new etc, if your delicate sensibilities are offended you're pathetic. But they're not, you're using this as the latest excuse to say OMG US R EVAL

Look...I'm not saying we should pull out NOW, it's obvious that's not an option. Maybe I'm just ranting about something that can't be changed.

But GOD Bush has made some dumb decisions...
