Me: Hi, well... I was thinking that I wanted to learn more about Bush. I'm starting to agree with his positions.
Kid: Well! That's great! Here --
Me: ...wait a minute. That would be flip-flopping. Sorry. Bye.

Hehehe. That's something one of my friends brought up. Kerry's speeches are not great. They're vague idealisms trying to please everyone. Desperate even. It's one of the things I'm highly disappointed about...

But the only reason I'm disappointed is because I don't think it's enough to beat Bush. And another four years of that bastard? The only comfort I can take in that, is that if he wins re-election, it'll be his last term.

Times like these I wish I could vote. But I'm leaving the country next year anyways, so what'll be the big difference...

See, my predicament is, i don't really agree with Bush, but i don't really want to work for Kerry. I agree with his positions on most things, but i don't think Bush can do a much damage in the next four years. Democrats traditionally cut support to the military, and republicans traditionally increase it, and i'm stuck in the Army for about 3 years after the elections.

/me votes Commonwealth

Goddamn crappy two party system, and the independents suck too.

According to "Army Times" polls, most of the military is voting republican (big shock).

So Kerry just spoke. Was a pretty weak speech--jokes that sound like an old fart trying to be cool, random jabs at Bush that seemed very out of place, and no real focus.

Dunno. I'd rather vote for him than Bush. Neither one is a great choice, but a wooden plank is better than Bush.

It's an even tougher decision between bad choices when it's likely to affect your salary.

I almost take comfort in the fact that the electoral college will make its decision before my absentee ballot has been counted. Meanwhile, on the issues where my vote actually matters (like the school levy in my home town) i still get a voice.

Around here, i just tell everyone i voted for bush, unless i know they voted ofr Kerry. It's not exactly honest, but it's better than having someone else spew their political opions at me.

Well Bush royally screwed my people. His new lockdown laws on Cuba only increase Castro's wealth and screwover the civilians and their family who wich to help them. Kerry on the other hand realizes the stupidity in these laws and wishes to remove them. But, considering most of my people cant vote, it doesn't really matter what we think.

Much love.

On the other hand, he could do a lot more damage if he doesn't have to worry abour reelection anymore... Image

If you really want that wait till '08 I hear it's either going to be some combination of McCain, Powell, and Rice.

Obama still owns them though.

That's IF Powell sticks around. I've heard a lot of scuttlebutt that he's pretty upset and plans to step down should Bush be reelected.

Yes I have no source....maybe Yahoo news...?

I voted for the Hemp party.

Because throwing my vote away is better than being responsible.

Yeah. That's probably the biggest downside to Kerry that I can see. We'll have to wait until 2012 for Obama.

No. It goes, VP, house prez, senate prez, then the various secerataries.

Incidentally, Ted Stevens (president pro tempore of the Senate) is the Senator from my home state, and the king of pork-barrel (last I heard, Alaska got more money per capita than any other state, by a substantial margin). You don't hear of him much, because he only talks to the press at home, which adores him for all the bacon he brings home.

And he's a huge-ass fan of The Hulk. Even had a themed party with 'im. He takes awesome by the hips, and thrusts. That's fucking awesome.
