Johny's grin faded fast. He showed no expression save a rasied eyebrow.

"Now, I wouldn't be stealin' from a man o' the cloth lassy... and I'm sure you feel very secure in yourself... but whoever did that..." Johny waved in the general direction of the front of the hall "...is most likely lurking outside these walls, not within"

Loki's eyes glanced over towards the fellow talking to Alex, who had volunteered to escort the drunken priest home.

Don't be so sure, she thought to herself.

Glancing back around the room, she thought silently, Have to go speak to the jailer, when the meeting is adjourned.

Shrugging her shoulders to work out some of the tension, she leaned back, watching the disarray of the frightened villagers, though some took it in more stride than others. Glancing at an acquaintance of hers, Edward, she chuckled inwardly. Some just didn't take anything in stride.

OOC: I'm going to be away from the internet for a few days, so unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) I'm going to go ahead and start the voting for who we nuke tonight.
After sitting in meditative silence since his last comments, Will blinks in astonishment and looks around.

"The spirits have spoken to me. Their signs are writ small and loose but numerous and clear within this hall."

Turning in the shocked, most likely incredulous silence, he brings his gaze to bear upon the young drifter sitting across the table. After a few seconds, though, Will drops his eyes, unable to continue.

Solemnly, he murmurs, "Johny, I sincerely hope you go straight to Michael for what you've done and brought to our town."

Scraping his chair across the floor, Will stands and stretches self-consciously.

"That's all I have to say."

And edging awkwardly past the people sitting and standing around the table, he excuses himself from the room.

OOC: So yeah, that's my two cents. Until I return, if the game continues beyond this day then let it be said that Will is staying at home and barricading himself in out of fear of the murderous outsider.

Johny blanched at the accusation and stared at the door by which Will had left, his green eyes flashing.

"They dont call it the Cult of Unfounded Speculation for nothing then."

Johny noticed that all eyes in the room were fixed on him. He swallowed and began to address the room.

"Listen here. I only just wandered into this town when I heard the screaming. By the time I first saw the body half the place had crowded around."

Johny paused a minute as the stares continued.

"You damn well know it, too..." Jasper pointed desperatly at Alex "Lass... you saw me run over from the road into this village when all this started... Tell them... tell them I hadn't even happened upon this place."

Alex sighed and nodded. Despite how much she wished to hang this man. she would never agree with herself if her lies were the cause of it. A poet's justice is hard and undeviating. Johny didn't deserve it.

"He's right." she whispered.

*John rouses from his reverie*

"Now I wouldn't say that, I don't like Ol' Johhny (then again I don't like much of anyone), but he doesn't seem like the murdering type to me. If you ask me I think that Nibel chap did it. I don't trust him. He's not right. In ther head. I mean playing music... for a giraffe..."

"Well, now, Johnnie's in the clear. We can all be thankkful for that."

*Pours Johnny a drink from his bottle into a paper cup someone had brought thinking that this was a party, and after learning it wasn't, was too embarqassed to come forward and claim their cups.

"I'm pourin', anyone else want some?"

*Clay pours Alex a drink and continues on talking.

"Really not too sorry the ol' bloke's dead, tried to bugger everything in town he did, left owing more money than a man ought to be able to spend, with a list of enemies, which has been reversed so that the people that didn't hate him were the one's on it. Keeps it so it can be written on paper without massive deforestation. Still, I wasn't the fellow that did it as I have spent the hours leading up this in some serious public drinking and passing...er falling asleep in the public water fountain. After I hear about this I ran up to my House for a bath and change o' clothes, that's why I'm late."

Sean merely grunted as he looked around at the faces.

"If you don't mind, I'll help you escort the priest to his home, after such an event it doesn't seem safe to be wandering about alone."

His gaze moved to the door, as if he was watching those who had already left.

"Seemed a bit nervous, didn't he..."

Hel et his voice trail off into his customary silence, thinking to himself.

The sun begins to set...

[OOC: Come on, guys. Hurry it up here. I want less roleplaying and more actual debating. If you can't think of anyone in particular to kill, then simply cast your vote at random. Hopefully, every post after this should include a vote for who to kill.

I managed to dig up an example of this game as previously played in another message board here. (This is from three years ago, by the way.) This isn't the best example, but hey, it was all I could find.]

Wolf finishes his drink and talks while pouring another one.

"Unfortunately, I think Sir Neville could have been involved in this. He never did like us commoners. He seems to think that our mere presence taints his assets. I hope it wasn't him but I wouldn't be surprised if he wielded the blade himself. In the interest of the common good, I say that it was probably him and he should be punished for his actions."

Wolf downs his second drink in one gulp and sits down.

Lila's chair dropped back to the floor with a thunk and she clambered up to stand on it, holding on to the back and bouncing. "Mean Johny, bad Johny, didn't play nice?"

She wrinkles her nose at Wolf. "If Neville dun't like us cuz he's over us, why would he bother with us? I think Johny was inna bad mood..."

She grins at all around her and bounces in a small circle, high enough to see all now that she's up standing on her chair. "Bad Johny, bad Johny, bad Johny, bad Johny, bad... Don't pick on the nice writer-lady, k?"

Father Actor stumbles out of his chair, tripping on the deceptivly flat surface of the floor.

"FOR A MAN TO KILL HIS FELLOW Brother he would have to descend to the darkest pits of the human mind.... THAT WHY I THINK A WOMAN DID IT."

Drinking from the bible having gotten his hands slightly confused the Priest casts a knowing eye around the room.

"Now I know Kirloth is innovent because she is a doctor and they can't kill."

Someone looks over at the ever so inebriated Priest. "Um Actor she works as a barmaid and is not a doctor."

Actor looks down at his medicine. "Of course she is. SO OBVIOUSLY THAT damn Giraffe did it. I'm innocent because everyone knows I wouldn't lie would I Dr Kirloth??"

Actor looks blankly around. "Where did she go?"

Bottoms up! After draining the small glass and watching Lila for a while, Alex coughed and spoke her vote. Quite simple indeed.

"I agree ... it was the giraffe."

Johny, ignoring the accusation from the little one bouncing on her chair. statched a drink from the table.

He looked at the giraffe... while it never turned towards him he had the distinct feeling that it was never the less, staring back.

"If anyones going to be butchering and mutilating someone... then cracking jokes after... its going to be that freak of a thing"

Johny swigged his drink back in one gulp and shuddered a bit.

"...freak..." he whispered.

"... You're the most agressive on here... Johny." Edward for once spoke without stuttering. "I may not agree with the religion, but Michaelism has brought development to the town. Murder would achieve nothing." He'd gone into journalist mode, it seemed. "Logically speaking, murder would be the furthest thing from their minds. After all, a dead person is an un-convertable person. So, if the victim wasn't part of Michaelism, his death would achieve nothing. If he was, his death would achieve nothing. There is no gain involved for the Giraffe. The... deity," he glanced across at Michael, "is intrested in nothing but satisfying his own pleasures of the flesh first. To accuse such a thing would be to say that there were deeper motives behind the activity, and the base thinking of the religious order doesn't give leeway for such a thing. Your argument is flawed, striking out to protect yourself, because you are the most likely subject." Edward sagged in his seat, exhausted from his emotional outburst.

Alex raised an eyebrow.

"But did you ever stop to think about what would happen if Michael's 'needs of the flesh' were refused. What if this dead man (once alive) refused to give the deity buttsex? Wouldn't that evoke some form of rage on Michael's part?"
