Ok, quick question. Is there an official plan in order to get RT2's story moving, or are we all supposed to self start? I got a good start for my character, one that will drag him world wide, which opens up pleanty of opportunities for characters to meet. Oh, Ant and Mad. I need to talk to both of you. On AIM ,MSN , ICQ, or IRC if possable.

Yeah. We wait a month (maybe--depends on how soon AGDIH wraps up), and I believe Mad or Rand gets first post.

cool. As it is, Chaos will react to either Mad's or Ant's emergance.

OK, i see it happening like this, Rand and i combine powers to write out the Alpha Post for the thread/s, i have an idea for how this can go, it will be the same for each of the area-specific threads we decide on.

Then, each thread would get a type of description of it's own, political climate, changes of note geographically and historically, Specific locations of note for story to perhaps begin or gravitate to, etc. From that, posting can begin.

For the first part, Rand and i will act as sort of GM's, creating NPC's and things for the characters to interact with, as needed. When the story reaches a certain point, and our characters return, Chapter 2 starts.

There are some general ideas for what Rand and i want to include in this story, but like any good freeform, we're trying to keep it open, just creating the characters in a way so we can write actions and reactions to situations. The RP will be as much shaped by the players as the "GMs"

As a question, how do we want time to flow? having three threads going at once, keeping track of time to keep things consistent will be important, but i'd like to have the story stretch over more time than RT1's 2 or 3 days.

any ideas are welcome.

I hope it's not to late to join, I kinda thought up a character (based on me, except with cool powers).

If I'm not to late, I'll post it tommorrow. Since I'm to lazy to read through RT1, I'm kinda in the dark, but since my character is only 14 (or 15, no one knows) he was not around when RT1 happened anyway.

It's not too late to join.

As the ending of RT1 is still foggy, then the past of RT2 is still forggy, so clarifying pasts for people will be tricky until RT1 is resolved.

Ok, this character is like me in looks, and with the genius part, but not with the drugs.

Name: Chris
Age: 14 or 15
Height: 5’ 4”
Weight: 135 lbs
Eye Colour: Gray/Green
Hair Colour/Style: Red, shaved down to stubble

History: Very little is known of Chris’s past. It is not known if he has parents, or where he was born. He often avoids questions about his past unless he feels he can trust someone completely.
He was 12 when his powers really started to show. All his life he has had very good luck, but during the rougher years of his life he also found that drugs would fuel his powers and make them much stronger. Because of this they are much more addictive to him, and since he was evidently exposed to drugs at a young age, and has become addicted to cigarettes, LSD and cocaine. He hates all of these, but is addicted to them extremely strongly. Where he gets the money for them is unknown.
When his genius was recognized is not known, but he is extremely smart. He has been designing things such as weapons, ships, people (genetic design) and other things. He plans to take over the world someday, but his drug habits have prevented him from doing this.
He has built some of these things, and works on other ones, carrying tools and bits around in his backpack. He has been wandering around in Canada and the US for perhaps five years now.

Powers: Chris has a very limited sense of prescience and weak telepathic powers. His most powerful power is that of “luck”. This luck is that events add up to his advantage, depending on how much he desires the result. This gives him good luck, but nothing really huge, unless the desire for something is great. When this happens, coincidences pile up to bring about the desired result, or close to it. This doesn’t mean he can kill with a thought, but people’s lives become very miserable if he hates them enough.
This is seemingly his source for drugs, as he never fails to find someway to get them. This ability is not very useful in combat, as it usually takes a fair amount of time. Usually he just gets lucky all the time.
His prescience is hardly anything normally, he might get impulses about future events, but nothing significant. However, drugs have the strange affect of greatly amplifying this ability. If on LSD he has spontaneous visions of the future and potential futures. This usually lasts about an hour or so. Cocaine sends him into a near coma like state, where he sees all potential futures, sees which are most likely, and sees the present and how it affects this. The drugs to not seem to be damaging his brain, but they do damage his body.
His telepathic abilities allow him to see what emotions and general ideas are in peoples heads, and allows him to tell where people are even he cannot see/hear them. He can send messages into peoples minds, but is limited to no more than 30 km, and at this distance the receiver has a hard time sensing the message. This ability is also greatly enhanced by drugs, but cannot be controlled or used because of the visions of the future.
He constantly practices with his powers to make them stronger.

Stuff he has: He has a large backpack filled with a large assortment of tools and bits of all kinds. There is a laptop computer with a titanium frame, which protects it from bullets and falls, and is filled with plans for things, and which he uses the test theoretical operation of the devices.
He has a large gun, with a silencer built into the barrel, making the barrel much thicker then it should be (8 inches thick), and fires 25mm bullets. Advanced magnetic/hydraulic recoil compensation allows it to be fired with the kick of a small rifle. He has 2 40 shot clips of iridium cored armor-penetrating explosive bullets with a delayed self-propellant that adds another 1000 meters to their range, and a 30 shot clip of hollow-point uranium rounds. Where he got the money and parts for this is unknown.
The gun can be quickly disassembled and assembled, so he can carry it in his backpack. He is a good shot at long range, but tries to conserve ammunition as he has to make the bullets himself, which involves making explosives, pouring metal into molds, and buying iridium.
He carries a small knife that somehow cuts through stuff extremely easily, slicing through steel like butter, but is not a really good knife fighter.
He knows basic martial arts, but that’s about it. Current things being built and fiddled with is a small handheld teleporter and a 4 inch sphere that should act as a shield against anything. Neither works yet, as many small problems need to be worked out (teleporter theoretically could form a singularity, explode with more power than a large hydrogen bomb, or just explode in a small manner, and still causes destruction of nearby things when it warps sapce-time). He fiddles with them constantly when not doing stuff on the computer.

Other: He has a moderately large rectangular scar on the inside of his left forearm. He gets moody often from both his rough upbringing and his drug habit.

Ezelek keeps telling me that there's a post in the RT1 thread that summarizes the story up to that point. I'm having a difficult time finding it... am so lost. @_@ Anyway... could someone link me, so I know where to really start reading? I have been commanded to read it beforehand by a few people.

Don't forget to include a starting point.

I think you meant "it's not a bad read, at all." ;-)

Regardless, not everyone has the time to plow through the Kyhm Forum equivalent of War And Peace, so here's a link to what I think you're talking about. If nothing else, it'll introduce you to what the rest of the world (read: any new characters who weren't themselves in the original RP) knows about the events of the immortal Road Trip.

I'd like to say that when I wrote that I did re-read up to page 30 and then just couldn't go on, I've got most of it from memory however.

That entry is definately the best one for the summary.

Actor.

I am starting to work on an abridged version of Road Trip... Irellevant and/or uninteresting posts, characters, and subplots will be eliminated (most of the first 20 pages is probably going ot go), post order may be moved around to improve coherency and continuity (for example, several small posts by one character may be combined into one longer one), inconsistencies will be removed, and spelling and grammar mistakes will be corrected as much as possible. The ultimate aim is, first of all, to trim it down to 50-25% of its current length, and second of all, to transform it from disconnected posts in a thread to a more connected, coherent narrative. I may even divide it into chapters to add to the novelistic feel. When this is done, it should provide an easier and faster read for those who are unwilling to wade through the thread.

EDIT: I haven't started it yet... First I need a transcript of the entire thread. I know someone has it. Whoever has it, can you send it to me?

The transcription is fragmented, and the work on it is halted, mainly because I'm too lazy to do pages 20-25 when I have schoolwork to do, and actual posts to write, instead of bookkeeping.

However, any of the others who were working on it originally (i.e. Rand, Bishou, MiB(maybe he did something before Bishy booted him, I'm unsure), Mad, and (I'm going to go out on a limb here) Ezelek, possibly have completed their particular five-chapter sections (up to about page 30 or 35, IIRC).

If anyone else wants to pick up where we left off, or perhaps the others have continued their work without me, let the rest of us know.

No, Kit, someone actually DOES have a transcript of the entire thread. I think it was Kesternvarn. Or maybe Eriatarka?

Strange, I thought of doing the same thing about 15 minutes before I logged on.....
So to test my theory of being an X-man who sees the future, I will need someone to travel to the planet Dune (also known as Arrakis, or Rakis, depending on when) and obtain some spice for me. Then I will see the future and launch religious wars that kill billions....
