Now, the 5 leaders of the districts.

Stephan Ignonivich, leader of the human district

Cunning, cruel, and uninterested in any 'common good' except for the common good of his own district, Stephan is an immensely popular leader. A shrewed bargainer, he has gotten his people an easy life so far, and his people are ready to take up arms to get back their easy life. He blames the lizardmen for the lack of crops, having always distrusted them. He has small groups of ambassadors and "bodygaurds" in the neutral district right now.

Mro'Ra'Liv'Ny'Gul, leader of the lizardman district

Sadistic and intelligent, Mro'Ra'Liv'Ny'Gul, elder and leader of the lizardman district, has kept his position through a combination of drive, intelligence, and martial prowess. As he sees his people start to slowly starve, he became immensely angry and blamed his longtime enemies, the craftsmen, and once Stephan blamed the lizardmen he assumed he humans were in an alliance with them. He does not particularly care, as he is confident his people can take all the resources of the neutral district without too much trouble, even from an alliance.

Slivee Ironworker, leader of the craftsman district

The craftsmen were the first to feel the brunt of the lack of food, as they are a somewhat delicate people. They are marshalling their forces in order to drive out what they say is a fish-man/lizardman alliance made to kill off the craftsmen. This explaination is generally accepted, as unaesthetic things are generally associated with evil in craftsmen society, and there are many stereotypes about both lizardmen and fish-people that are rarely if ever tested by the vast majority of craftsmen in that district.

Xilthis, leader of the fishman district

In a large cavern which is one big underground lake, Xilthis rules the fish-people. The food shortage has hurt even his people, who cannot be self-sufficient with the small area of land in the underground lake, though they are not exactly starving.

Right now Xilthis is monitering the situation- he knows very well that if certain groups win they can starve his people, and he does not trust any of the other leaders to not attempt to kill his people off. He is therefore preparing to intervene in this situation, mostly by hiring mercenaries. He is considering an alliance with the leader of the neutral district, but he finds that leader even more distasteful than the other three, and this is staying his hand thus far.

Stephen Alzis, leader of the neutral district

Stephan Alzis should not, by rights, be the leader of the neutral district. But he is. Before we get to that, lets explain some things:

Nobody knows when Alzis first turned up. As long as someone can remember him back, someone else remembers him farther, and most people have enough survival instinct not to probe too far. He is never seen coming or going- he is simply there. He always appears alone. He carries no weapon and always dresses perfectly, always in style for who he is going to meet

He collects odd things, and he can always get what you're looking for- for a price. This is never paid in currency but in favors called in, items aquired in return, etc. He is constantly brokering a constant web of deals, and is persuing ends that few ever recognize

Sixteen seperate trades, goals, and various projects/plots with no obvious connection will nevertheless result in a specific outcome that could not have happened without all of those things happening. He is not wealthy in terms of commerce but he considered himself wealthy, as he measures his wealth in favors, relics, documents, whispers, and secrets that he has accumulated over the years.

It is claimed by some, however, that he has died fifteen times in the last 75 years, most recently in a cave-in supposedly engineered by a political rival (found dead the same day, by suicide apparently.) Supposedly, when asked about this (it is unknown if anyone with the balls to ask lived) in response to the question if he died in the rockslide, he responded "Yes, I was killed in that cave in. Quite enlightening, I must say."

He was appointed as successor when his predecessor stepped down without warning. Since then, the crop yeild has been producing by 2-5% every year, making everybody very happy. Including him- he has gotten a lot of favors from people, and supposedly a lot of money. In response to all of this, he has launched a peacekeeping campaign and an investigation into the reason for this. He is very displeased- many people he wanted favors from have been alienated by this.

You can join any faction, be a mercenary, whatever. These are just the leaders, if you wish to take control of one please PM me.

-MiB

Location: Tallahassee, FL
Name: James Maxismith
Race: Monath-ilir
Occupation: Freelance craftsman
Real Age: Unknown
Apparant Age: 28
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 165 lbs

Appearance: James looks slender and rough. He has calloused, yet delicate hands that show he has worked his whole life, but is still very skilled. He usually wears just a simple vest over a white shirt, stained with different things from working, and a pair of simple pants and simple shoes.

Background: No one knows much about James, and due to some of his business ties, people don't seem too anxious to find out. Because he will work for anyone of any race, he has made a good deal of friends and a great deal of enimies. As such, he has learned to fight well in the ways that best suit his build. He is very stealthy and is skilled in quick attacks that would resemble an assassin or a martial artist. Granted his primary skills are crafting things, so he isn't as good at fighting as someone who has trained in that for their entire life, but he can hold his own against someone of equal or less training with ease. The items he can or will craft range from a wide variety of things. Pretty much, if you want something, he can make it, or at least try to get it. Because of this attitude and skill, he has become good business partners with Stephen Alzis. Actually, some people speculate since they don't know how long James has been around that he actually has been there just as long as Stephen himself. The two routinely work with each other to get what they need. James was with Stephen right before the rock slide killed him. It confused most people that James was unphased by Stephen's death and reappearance, but no one really wanted to question due to his strange partnership with Stephen. James doesn't seem to care much about the plight his people are in, as it isn't really affecting him. He is definately out to provide survival for himself, and he does it rather well. No one is quite sure where James lives, but he can be routinely seen staying at quite a bit of places. He doesn't seem like he has a great deal of money, although some of his highest quality items have sold for a price that would make a kings purse empty. He works periodically with Stephan Ignonivich, and has helped design some of the implements his bodyguards in the neutral district use to help protect the humans from the 'scourge' of the Sho'Kir. Basically, he created an easily duplicated rod that can create intense heat waves in the area, which greatly bother and hinder heat vision as well as causing discomfort in the cold blooded types. Granted very few of these can be found in this part of the city, but Stephan looks to James when new innovation is needed and he doesn't want any other Monoth'ilir to know about it. James doesn't work much with the Sho'Kir or the Skell, but this is mainly due to their lack of interest in working with him. If they really wanted something made, for the right price, James could provide it. James is very rarely seen with many other Monath'ilirs. No one can tell for sure whether this is due to a personal reason or if he was excommunicated of some sort. He has a working relationship, although sometimes not the nicest one, with Silvee Ironworker. Most of this is mainly just as a sort of liason with Stephen, as the craftsman are usually self sufficient enough and can, in large groups, literally design just about anything. James just seems to be able to do almost as much by himself, and he is just fine with that.

Equip: James very rarely carries anything around, but has stashes of things all over this area of the city which only he and a few select few, such as Stephen, are aware of. He almost always has a knife around six inches in length which he keeps razor sharp and can be used for carving, cuting, engraving, and other uses that aid him in his craft. It could be lethal if used properly. James very rarely carries money, but always has it when its needed.

My feeble attempt at a character for this RP.

Name: Alex Linscut
Race: Human
Occupation: Mercenary
Age: 25
Height: 5’9”
Weight: 160 lbs
Background: Alex was orphaned at the age of 16 when a cave-in buried his home and his family with it. Afterwards he was forced to survive on his own by doing the only thing he knew best, fighting. Due to his young age and lack of patience, he was only able do small jobs such as guarding wagons and warehouses, but eventually his skills were noticed and he was hired on as a permanent guard for a merchant. Years of working for the merchants have helped temper his patience and helped hone his skills by working with his fellows. Eventually, he grew bored with his job and decided to leave in search of more exciting employment. His mercenary career started as he did freelance guard work for caravans headed through more dangerous territory and eventually developed into fighting for anyone for the right price as the years passed. His history of accepting jobs from anyone has allowed him to work with all 5 factions at some point yet also puts him in a dangerous position as no race will provide haven for him. This has caused him to develop a cautious nature, constantly being weary about betrayal. However, when given a job he will keep trying to accomplish his task until someone has beaten him to it or his employer cancels the job. Alex prefers not to do assassinations as they often have severe political ramifications and he does not wish to accidentally cause open warfare between factions. He was never very good with higher level technology, preferring to rely on his strength instead. He is an amiable person, often doing favors for his friends and expecting nothing in return. He picked up the nickname “Links” due to his weapon of choice, a long length of steel chain with a heavy spearhead attached to one end.

Any problems/improvements/edits needed, just PM me.
Go ahead, rip it apart. I can't improve much without a critic.

Name: Exliran
Race: Skell
Occupation: Philosopher, politician
Real Age: 27
Height: 6'6"
Weight: 320 lbs

As a youth Exliran worked in the mining district. This gave him an impressive stature that tends to set people off from his intellectual side. As he worked in the quarries, he met a very wise and old Skell named Zitharel. Exliran spent all of his free time talking to this ancient fish and learned many things from him. As time progressed, other's began to notice that the young fish showed great wisdom of his own, not all of it gained from Old Zith. Many noticed that as the boy(*not sure how sexes work for this race*) worked, he always had a certain look of concentration behind his eyes, as if he was always deep in thought. Eventually, as Exliran grew older, he raised up higher into an administrative position. Immediately upon his promotion, production in the quarries increased by half. This attracted the attention of higher authorities, and eventually Exliran became known for his powerful mind and even headed decision making skills. When the collapse and famine came, Exliran knew that action must eventually be taken. He knows that the only way for everyone to survive is for an unbiased distribution of food. This type of fairness could only be found from the Skells, as all of the other races would look for their best interest first. He also knew that none of the other raced would easily accept Skell rulership of the neutral area. He now works to ensure the survival of all the races and eventually a peaceful co-existence for all.

Edit: Weight was way low for a person that size.

Name: Alec Mortese
Race: Human
Occupation: Thief
Age: 17
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 140 lbs
Appearance: Black hair, dark eyes and eybrows, left eye usually covered by hair. rather skinny. long black coat wrapped over longsleeve skin tight black shirt and many-pocketed black pants. 2 knives (one shorter than other) slid into belt. Smoke bombs on leather straps like an X across chest.

Background: Alec lived in the poorest part of the human district. As a small child Alec would work on hiding in the many shadows to avoid speaking to any of the harsh and cruel people that surrounded him. His parents were extremely mean to him for they had almost no money for food and alot their money had to be spent on raising Alec making them wish he was not there. Alec made it a point for them not to know he was there. There was an even darker hate towards his parents than what they had for him. Alec started stealing food and clothes for himself so that he didnt have to go to his parents for them. As the years past he began to get extremely good at lurking throught the shadows and stealing. With this ability he no longer needed his parents at all. Alec went out one day without his parents knowing (as usual) and simply never returned. He slept in many different places including long and winding tunnels that many people have abandoned. This would become his permanent place of residence. Even though Alecs stealing ability was impressive it was impossible for him to go unnoticed every single time. If he was caught, a fight would usually be started, but Alec is a skinny kid who doesnt like confrontation. At first Alec would run and get away because of his speed., but always thinking of a way to end a fight very quickly. The next time he was challenged Alec dove across the floor picking up sharp peice of metal, rising up behind his assailant slipping the knife-like metal between his ribs killing the man. That was the first time Alec had killed, but it would not be the last. Alec adopted two knifes as his weapons of choice. He was able to steal them from a knife merchant. Alec, now 17 has realized that his swift knife attack strategy will only work on average to slightly above average fighters. Alec is now looking into illusions and tricks to help him in his fights. He was able to make smoke bombs from salvaged material, but he wants to learn magic, the darker ways of magic to go along with his tricks and illusions. Alec isnt all that interested in politics or whats going on between races, he can make it on his own for food. All he really wants is to make it up to where he can learn powerful magic and become extremely wealthy.

I'll allow the smoke bombs, but keep in mind that these would have to be the kind you actually light. You can't just pull a pin and throw it; weapons like that are too high-tech for this area. A simple chemical reaction can be made, however, so it's acceptable.

Chaos- just so you know, yes, there are male and female Skell. They have four Castes, and yours would be a Redbarb, most likely. Redbarbs are the common people, however, it does not mean that you cannot be intelligent- it just means that you weren't born into a leadership-oriented position. Goldgills are weaker and frail, yet naturally intelligent. Another possibility is a Warscale, the tougher kind of Skell. Either way, if you worked in the mines, you would not have originally been a Goldfin, but you can still reach leadership levels.

Name: Eric 'Ghost' Schwartzwald
Age: early 30s
Race: Human
Occupation: Thief
Personality: Very thoughtful. Hates rushing into situations blindly, and has been known to take months in preparation for certain jobs. Rest assured, when he takes the job, he will finish it--and as close to successful as he can get it. Very paranoid.
History: Ghost tends to keep his mouth shut about his past. The most that is known about him is he has ties to a revolutionary group in the city. Usually you have to get in touch with him by a friend of a friend of a friend of a business aqcuaintance, and due to his paranoia about his contacts, they might not even be able to help you. But if you're lucky, you find a man by the name of Eric Shwartzwald, an unassuming man with a friendly smile.

Eric Schwartzwald is a lucky man. On the surface, he's just a benevolent owner of a pawn shop. He's the only person who can contact the thief nicknamed Ghost. He's also the possessor of a simple little spell that turns the wearer invisible for an hour--at the cost of an hour stolen from the years he has to live. It was a lucky find, he'd tell anyone who knew about it. Once in a lifetime, and it happens to run through my shop. What did you expect me to do with it?

Nobody notices that most of what Ghost steals runs through Eric's shop. Those who do chalk it up to the man's close relationship with the thief. Eric doesn't make any statements of his own about it, so all it is is unfounded speculation.

Of course, he once was hired to steal something for a man named Stephen Ignonivich. He was successful, of course. Ignonivich was impressed, and and mentioned that if he ever needed a job like that done again, he'd call Ghost.

Eh . . . I like it. It's a little strange, I guess. Tell me if everything checks out.

Works fine.

Just keep in mind, spells are a combination of gestures, materials, and words- there are no 'spell scrolls' to read off of in this. The closest thing would be a scroll with instructions on what to say to invoke the spell, but you still need practice to do it correctly.

Ah. That's basically what I meant, though. Perhaps that was a bit unclear.

As for the practice bit . . . he's in his early 30s, about 32-33? He found the spell in his 20s. He's had plenty of time to devote to learning it, considering it's the ONLY spell he possesses.

All right then, I'm set.

Name: Arqesur
Race: Skell
Occupation: Crusader
Age: 24
Height: 5' 10"
Weight: 145 lbs
Description: He makes up for what he lacks in height with the freakish speed of his tightly chorded muscles. He wears a well worn multi-layered cloak and a jumpsuit underneath, both a glum shade of grey. On his back is strapped his main weapon a intricately carved partisan.
Background: Born into a wealthy family Arqesur excelled in all his academics. At an early age he was recognized by his peers as the epitamy of all the Skell ideals. He was fantastically charismatic, this allowed him to gain the respect of many of his elders. Before long he was a figurehead in society giving rousing speeches on pacifism, love, and friendship.

Then in his twentieth year he witnessed the assassination of Xilthis' predecessor. It was a brutal affair done in cold blood by Sho'Kir assassin. Arqesur had just walked into the leader's chambers for a private council and witnessed the dieing breaths of the ruler. When the guards arrived in response to horrific screams they found a ghastly scene. Arqesur knelt next to the leader's corpse, the entire floor and walls around him were smeared with blood and entrails. He had flayed the assassin alive with his own weapon.

Something had snapped in his mind, he was through with preaching of love and acceptance. He resolved to act on it in a most extreme fashion. He wandered the underground tunnels and surface for years. If he ever witnessed an act of violence he would brutally kill the perpetrator. If he did not see who started a fight, he would massacre both participants.

Oh, yeah, these smoke bombs are sposed to look kinda janky lookin. seein as how he made them himself. but can i have like a strip of flint attached to it, so if i pull that out, it sparks the inner fuse lighting the smoke bomb? So its similar to having pins, but not quite the same technology.

That looks good, Revolutio- and just so you know (in case it comes up) he would be of the Warscale caste if he is a fighter.

Shao-fin: yes, that works just fine.

So, a Redbarb that rose to the philosophical and political position? Works for me. Just to make it clear, he has no fighting skill. He will never fight without great regret. He is strong however. Think Michael Clarke Duncan. Exliran would be the physical Skell equivelant to that in size.

All cool then?

Name: Hra'rok'nol
Age: 39
Race: Sho'kir
Occupation: Lieutenant, Lesser Wards Expeditionary Force
Height: 6'6"
Weight: 170 lbs
Appearance: Muscular, black-skinned with triangles of orange. Golden eyes. Hra is a mutant, and has much thicker and tougher skin than a normal lizardman.

Personality:
Fiery, a good leader, and extremely charismatic. The kind of guy you want with you in a fight. A bit hotheaded, unfortunately, but he tries to restrain himself.

Background:
A tall and imposing figure, Hra'rok'nol is a Lieutenant in the Lesser Wards Expeditionary Force. It is a branch of the group known as Society of Justice, which rules the upper levels of the Greater Wards tightly yet effectively. When the Lesser Wards rose several years back from the sea, Hra'rok'nol immediately volunteered to go over there. His job is to essentially protect settlers. When the cave-in happened, Hra was there for a periodic report. Trapped here, he is trying to find a way out so he can report in and get assistance.

Equipment:
Hra wears armor made from the chitin of vent crawlers, a ferocious centipede-like creature that infests the lower levels. It is light, yet marvelously tough. As for a weapon, he uses a traditional Sho'kir weapon, the Cor'roth or 'Bladestaff'. It is essentially like a halberd, except the blades are on both sides and similar to that of a scythe or a kukri, having an inward curve.

So far I count- 3 fighters, 2 theives, 2 philosophers/sages, and 1 tinkerer. Not a bad combination ^^

Velthis
Age: 29
Race: Skell
Occupation: Wanderer and jack of all trades
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 150lbs

Personality: Keeps to himself, and does the things he believes are his duty- which also included a few years in the Skell Militia. He has some basic above-ground skills, mostly aquired during his long trips to the surface. The only thing he never picked up that well was combat on the surface, though he was a fair hand at underwater combat.

He carries a large sack with him (waterproof- it would be called a purse in any other society but its typical of Skell who expect to be out and about for a while to have it) that usually contains some food, lockpicking tools, and some very basic craftsmen tools.

The only area Velthis is above-average in is negotiation, intimidation and the like- he has his way with words, though in his opinion abusing that skill is a very bad thing to do. He rarely uses it for more than just minor, day-to-day things.

Backround:
A typical young Skell, he has just started his wandering days among the surface folk. The skills he's picked up will greatly benefit his society, he feels, and he somewhat specializes in the cultures, customs and beliefs of the various races. He has wandered for about 3 years now and has come to know a great deal about each race, and has come to respect them (for the most part.)

He is not afraid to point out when something in a new society seems ludicris, though he will not be rude and say this in front of a member of that society.

Equipment:

A waterprood bag with lockpicks, jeweler's tools and some basic blacksmith's tools, all of which he can use, though not in any extraordary ways. He can do an average job with them, and after that he cannot do much better.

He has, also, various books, some by him and some by other people, in various languages, dealing with the cultures, customs and history of all four races. These are his most prizes possessions.

Location: nowhere near the damned sacred rainbow ... U.S.
Name: Nada Darksmith
Age: 21 (it seems), yet she is rather young for a craftswoman
Race: Craftsman
Occupation: Tinkerer ^_^ now you have two
Height: 5’9’’
Weight: 112lbs

Personality: Loner, but not by choice … by necessity. Families are dangerous indulgences that are known to have craftsmen killed. The food shortage caters to that. Still, with all the food Nada has hidden away in the small crawl-space she calls the ‘storage room,’ she could easily supply a large (unthinkable) family unit of five.

Instead of outside contact, she carries around a small, slab of wood, mangled by numerous notches and slits. A few valuable moments will be spent conversing with lingering customers, but for the most part, she talks to the keepsake she has fondly named: Penfel.

There are no "classes," I was making broad generalizations. --;;

Name: Selkinzan Bladesmith
Age: 27
Occupation: Bodyguard-swordsmith
Heigth: 170 centimetre
Weight: 55 Kilo

Personality: Calm, collected and clearly a man of culture, with a certain amount of arrogance, Selkinzan is clearly a member of one of the mot affluent families. The reason for his position, which would normally be 'beneath his station' are some enirely less appreciated quirks.

Selkinzan is elitist, racistic even for the Craftsmen's standards and has a cruel streak. While he can tolerate being around humans for some time without being more then passably rude, fishmen and lizardmen get degrading comments at best, and violence if Selkinzan can think of a sufficient excuse.

Handsome even for Craftsmen standards, with hair that has grown green through some mutation, Selkinzan is also excedingly vain, and will usually consider the way he looks his first concern.

The thing that worries his fellow craftsmen the most is Selkinzan's obsession with his swords, that he crafted himself. He has four of them and has named them, often talking about them and even to them as if they're friends.

Background: Born into one fo the most noble families of the local Craftsmen, Selkinzan has trained a great part of his life in the forging of swords. At a young ae already though, he found that he liked to wield the swords as much as make them, and that he had a hard time letting the swords merely hang on the wall or be used by soldiers. He followed swordfightng class, unusual for noble Craftsmen, and swith his enthusiasm and dexterity made quite a name for himself.

This would have been a scandal if not for the fact that Selkinzin was particularly handsome, and the Craftsman high society tolerated the enfant terrible. After some fights though, it became evident that Selkinzan appreciated the art of pain as much as the art of war and smithing. A couple fo duels ended with other craftsmen being seriously injured. Things might have headed to a scandal after all if it wasn't for the crisis. Selkinzan volunteered to go to the neutral district. Obviously not as an ambassador but as a bodyguard, though one wouldn't call him that, considering his gear, bought with the family's money, is of the finest quality, and yet still Selkinzan is often heard to be wistful about the 'barbaric conditions' he live shim. Still, he's happy to get the chance to 'have fun with his four companions'
