Hra frowns, and makes a slight hissing noise.

'Ahh well, I suppose we will have to deal with those who have come. We can't continue to wait for more people to arrive... it would take too long, and we would lose our chances at catching the thief.'

With this, he turned to Alzis.

'I understand that you are the one who has been stolen from?'

Alzis replied, calmly, 'Yes, this is true. It was an item of... sentimental value, shall we say. It would appear as nothing more than a mildly valuable piece of technology, but it has been in my family since before the cataclysm occured.'

Hra grimaced. 'Technology? Well, that narrows down who we're looking for, not many around these parts would trade in it.'

Alzis smiled at Hra, somewhat unnervingly. 'Regardless of what others may think or do, I require that back. As soon as possible.' Something in his stare let Hra know that he meant that he should be out there, tracking down the thief.

Alzis asked one final question, addressed to the group in general- 'Do any of you have any more questions? Before you ask, there will be a reward, if you can retrieve this object of purely sentimental value for me...'

*Eliran, not being able to catch the young girl's attention stands up and looks at Alzis.*

"Yes, who else besides yourself would want this item, and can we have a description of the item?"

Ghost paused to catch his breath, leaning over top of an alley. "35," he said. "A half an hour to get to Ignonivich before the spell wears off." He stared down at the ground.

Ghost pulled the metal cylinder out of his bag once more, staring at it. "Technology," he said. "It must be pretty important, with the security Alzis had on it. Damned if I know what it does . . . never set eyes on anything like it, and I've seen plenty of illegal equipment come through my shop." He took a deep breath. Then he put the cylinder back in his bag and slung the strap back over his shoulder.

Ghost took a few steps backwards, then ran and jumped across the alley to the next roof. He hopped like that for two more rooftops, but on the last roof, he discovered there was no more roof. He looked around, but all the nearest buildings were too tall or too far away, and he didn't see any ladders to help him this time.

"Damn," he said. "Looks like I'll have to be careful." Ghost jumped down from the roof and began carefully making his way along the sides of the street.

EDIT: Ah, thanks, Ero.

OOC: Just so you know for future reference, it looks like a metal cylinder with buttons on the side.

Alec leaned forward a little and looked up at Alzis.

Alec "Do you have any speculations of your own on who it might be? Are there people that you know of that would like to have this technology? The thief may just be working for someone, maybe with a few suspects we could get to the bottom of who wanted this item stolen."

Alzis thought a moment to himself. Alec leaned back against the wall while listening to Alzis.

Alzis "Well, that Ignonivich had seen it not too long ago when he was at a party I was hosting. I do remember him saying something about it. I dont know if that means anything or not, but thats about all i can remember of anyone noticing it. You see this peice of technology is very unique, and i usually only show it at special occasions."

Everyone in the room seemed intrigued at that fact and picked up the suspiciousness of it almost immediatley. Alec smiled and looked at the group of recently decided bounty hunters.

Alec "Looks like we'll be going to see Ignonivich then?"

With all the people coming through that damned doorway, Aurelia was beginning to feel like a lowly slave to those bastards. Her face was contorted in an exasperated scowl, disgusted by their lack of respect. There was even one, he was very tall and looming, who dared to mock her by lowering himself to face her directly and then had the audacity to speak. She let out an infuriated sigh and rolled her eyes to look at the other "guests."

Watcher had started talking to them. Why he wasted his breath, she did not know. These monsters couldn't possibly conform properly to retrieve that stolen item. But she guessed that there was really no harm in telling them off and keeping them busy, so long as that was the fastest way to get rid of them. Utter pests. Well, if everyone in the room began to somehow come up with a plan to identify this false lead, then, the sooner they'd leave her and her Watcher to their own devices.

She watched every move that the pests made. The utter nonsense that they spoke was grating to her ears, but Aurelia took comfort that they would soon leave, and she would be able to look for signs of the thief herself in her own peaceful space. She slipped away from the door and leaned against a wall that gave her a greater view of the room and silently waited.

OOC: Sorry it took so long. I'll be better about that next time. Baron, I'll write the intro for your character to join is as soon as the present company decides to go on their way.

Hra nodded at the human that had been speaking to Alzis.

'Yes, this seems to be the best course of action... let us go, then. Everyone follow me, please. We wouldn't want to bother Alzis any more than this, if at all possible.'

With this, he walked to the door, not noticing the girl that had let him in watching from the wall.

Stepping out, he waited for everyone to come before moving on.

The caravan had been on the road for about two hours now and was already more than halfway through the dangerous territory. Alex was sitting beside the driver in the last wagon, feeling quite restless and very bored. He looked over at some of the other guards in the next wagon. They were laughing and thoroughly enjoying a game of dice, gambling their wages before they even earned them. He had already played a few rounds near the beginning of the trip and already lost 10 credits, so he decided to cut his losses and focus on his job. He was beginning to think that accepting this job was a bad idea when the wagons abruptly stopped. He could hear a loud voice coming from the front of the caravan. “Give us your food and we’ll let you live.” Alex turned his attention to behind the caravan and saw 3 humans approaching his wagon noting that 2 had swords and the third had a crossbow. He looked to the other guards and they motioned to him to prepare to attack the brigands when the signal was given. He climbed into the back of the wagon and pulled the pin from the chain around his arm. He tossed most of the chain to his left hand and drew a throwing knife from his belt. He aimed for his throw and waited for the signal.

A shrill whistle pierced the silence and within moments, guards burst out of every wagon. Alex threw his knife at the archer and before it reached its target he was already on the ground and swinging his chain in a circle to his side. Fortunately, the knife caught the crossbowman in the throat, causing him to drop his crossbow as he clutched at the knife protruded from his neck. The swordsmen rushed at Alex, jabbing with their long swords. He managed to turn away most of their attacks with his chain but the two of them still managed to hit his arms once each. He let go of the chain in his right hand in mid-swing and it flew straight towards the man at his left. The heavy spearhead gouged a deep cut between the swordsman’s ribs but was stopped from doing more damage as Alex pulled back on the chain. He caught it as it flew back towards him and fluidly spun the spearhead back into a whirling circle. The other fighter backed away and began attacking more cautiously as he noticed his partner was beginning to slow down from the wound. Alex began swinging his chain overheard in a large radius, slowing releasing more links until neither of the swordsmen could get close enough to attack.

“Hey, grab the bow and shoot the bastard!” the brigand ordered and the injured one turned and ran to the fallen crossbow. Alex loosed his chain at the running bandit again and caught him in the back with the barbed spearhead, piercing him and leaving the weight firmly anchored in the dying fighter. The remaining swordsman attacked relentlessly, seeing Alex as unarmed, but he was able to awkwardly block most of the swings with the remaining end of chain he had in his hands. Alex pulled strongly on the chain and it ripped out of the man’s back, causing him to stagger a bit with the sudden loss of weight. He swung the chain low, catching the fighter’s legs, and tripped him. He quickly punched the fallen swordsman in the face, and made sure that he was unconscious. Afterwards, Alex looked around and saw that the other guards had dispatched their targets and were looting the bandits. He followed their example and started searching his opponents for anything worthwhile. He found that the crossbow was still intact and that the crossbowman had a quiver full of bolts so he took both of them. He managed to find several credits on two of them and even some dried meat. He retrieved his throwing knife as well as their swords and headed back to his wagon, wondering if there would be any more excitement on the trip.

Ghost paled as he arrived at Ignonivich's mansion.

"Shit." It wasn't often he found need to swear, even on the job. He tried to keep himself as calm as possible. He looked around. "They took a wagon. That's why they got here before me." He paused for a moment. "15. Better move fast and hope none of them see me."

He snuck around to the back of Ignonivich's mansion, where the ground floor window was open--just like Ignonivich had said it would be. "Saves you the effort of hauling yourself up and saves me the worry of some passerby seeing your rope and asking questions," Stephen had said. Ghost clambered through, finding himself in an ornate dining room with silver goblets and candles set out.

"What I'd get pawning this off," Ghost muttered. He shook his head slowly, then walked out into the hallway to the staircase. He sighed with relief, seeing that Ignonivich hadn't let them in yet. If he had, they would've come through here first. It was a long hallway, stretching the breadth of the mansion.

Ghost walked up the stairs, then paused as he tried to remember which way Ignonivich's private office was in. It was the only place he could go to drop off the cylinder without worrying about one of his pursuers seeing him. Ignonivich never took people who just knocked on his door out of the blue to his private rooms.

He nodded, then turned and walked to the right. Third door on the left side. Ghost opened it, and stepped into Ignonivich's office, shutting the door as softly as possible.

The chair behind the desk swiveled around to reveal Ignonivich's smiling face. "I'll assume that since the door opens but there is no one for me to see that it's the Ghost? You were successful, then?"

Ghost nodded, then realized Ignonivich couldn't see his face. He pulled the cylinder out of his bag and placed it on the man's desk.

"The job was completed, but I almost got caught. I thought you said the guards were sympathetic."

"I thought they were," Ignonivich said.

"Anyway, I'll need my money," Ghost said.

Ignonivich nodded, and walked over to the side wall of his office and pulled back a painting. He turned the lock on his safe and pulled out a cloth bag. "Your payment, Ghost," he said. "For living up to your name once again."

"It's a job," Ghost said, giving an invisible shrug. He opened the bag and inspected its contents. "Looks real enough."

"It is real enough."

Ghost nodded. Once again, Ignonivich didn't see it. "Nothing against you. It's a habit." He stuffed the bag into his own pack, then turned the knob to walk out the door.

He found himself yanked out into the hall by one of Ignonivich's butlers. Luckily Ghost managed to avoid crashing into him. The butler walked into the office, completely oblivious to Ghost's presence.

"Sir, there are some guests here to see you," the man said. By his tone, Ghost could tell he didn't mean friendly guests.

Ignonivich pursed his lips. "I see."

Ghost walked down the hall, eyes closed and mind racing. "4 minutes left . . ." He didn't want to take another hour off his life just for this--not in a house full of sympathetic people and only a few easily recognizable people trying to kill him.

He paused at the stairwell, then looked up.

"There has to be a roof exit somewhere," he said.

Alex’s day was going pretty well. He was able to sell the swords and crossbow to some of the local merchants and had spent some quality time in a local tavern. He used the credits to buy a round of drinks for the patrons and played a few friendly games of dice. After he felt he had enough of the reverie, he left the tavern and decided to check in on some of his friends. As he left the tavern, he saw a familiar group of people at a nearby mansion. He began walking towards them, and he thought to himself, “Hmm…maybe they're still looking for the thief. I never did get to see what happened. This may be interesting.”

Selkinzan was walking through the slums, deftly avoiding all puddles and trash out on the streets and throwing icy glares at people trying to ask him for alms till they vanished. Walking through the slums was the shortest way to reach the Craftsman empire's embassy. Most Craftmen preferred the longer but safer boulevard because of the chance of getting mugged.. But Selkinzan tended to travel through the slums.

"Hey you..."

Selkinzan stopped and looked at the figure comin out of the shadows. A lizardman dressed in rags with a knife. Behind him were four smaller lizardmen with primitive weapons.

"You were addressing me?" The voice suggested that it was an unlikely possibility.

"Yeah, give us all yer credits, and ye won't get hurt." The lizardman said.

Selkinzan smiled faintly. "Oh..so you're hunting then, little predator? If I were you I'd restrict myself to catching flies lizard."

"Don't give me any crap, pointy ears. Just hand ove rthe credits or..."

"Yes Selorina. I do think that you should teach him some manners. You are good a that" Selinzan placed his hand on one of his swords.

"What? What are you talking about?"

Selkinzan smiled again. "I'm not talking to you." He drew one the swords.

The fight was short. The four lizardmen had scarcely seen the blade come for their killing blows. Selkinzan took a piece of cloth from his inner pocket and wiped the blade clean. "Thank you Selorina. I do think this should be a valuable lesson." For a second Selkinzan's eyebrows raised a fraction of a centimetre. He looked around. Then he sheated the sword again and continued his walk to the embassy.

She had ducked behind a corner and so, remained unnoticed by her prey ... and his attackers. Yet once they were dispatched, she folded her hands behind her and stepped into the center of the corridor, smiling softly to herself. "Allo, sir Craftsman-Warrior-Lizardman killer." she called softly, quirking an eyebrow at him as he turned to regard her. "Such a long and eloquent title ... I must say it is a bit impressive.

Shuffling to the side and shashaying around in place, she twirled back around to face him. "It's not very often that a Craftsman-Warrior-Lizardman killer falls victim to the stalkings of a Tinkerer-Artist-Lily picker. Oh..." Nada twirled again, "... don't get me wrong. I wasn't stalking you. I just wondered if you needed anything to help you on your quest. You are on a quest, correct ... sir of uncountable skills?"

Selkinzan raised an eyebrow. "Lord Selkinzan shall suffice as a title, young one." The arrogance was less pronounced then usual. He tossed away the blood covered piece of cloth.

"To answer your question, I have been sent to safeguard the weak willed talkers that are called ambassadors. Yet while I'm here I like to keep an eye on the beasts" he getsured at the dead lizardmen "and put a stop to any little tricks they might be planning. And while I'm here, reminding that 'merchant lord' about his proper station, and the consequences of forgetting it." Selkinzan's voice had a pleasant ring to it even as he threathened.

"Regarding your offer. What service would you be able to offer the Bladesmith house, and what name would you have connected with it?"

"Well then..." she lightly bowed, sweeping her fingertips against the stone ground, "Lord Selkinzan, you are well met. I've always wanted to lay waste to some of the lizardman scum that linger these hallways ... but then again, the effort doesn't really suit me."

Grinning that trademarked pleasant smirk, she reached back to swipe away some loose strands of brownish-reddish hair that had slipped undone. Her fingers settled on the plain gold chain that rested around her neck. Just the fact that such a piece of jewelry was still in her possession was certainly saying something ...

"I am Nada Darksmith... But as for services! I may provide any supply that you require ... provided that you ask. Food? Weapons? Attire? I can manage anything, sir."

As the company entered the room, Exliran noted all that he could (I'll leave description up to GM)

"Ignonivich, I presume?"

The man at the desk looks up, "Yes, what do you want?"

Exliran: If you are unaware, there has been a break in today, over at Alzis' mansion. We have been given reason to believe that you might have some information that could be of use to us. Secondly, I have a paper here for you, dealing with my own personal political bussiness in this sector. My name is Exliran. We have been in contect, albit lightly. Please read this at you liesure and get back to me on that. Now, about the robbery...

Ignonivich: Are you accusing me of stealing!?!

Exliran: Not at all, Mater Ignonivich. We simply want information on an item you seemed interested in. It might let us know the reasons that someone else might want it.

Exliran the gives a description of the said object.

Exliran: Now what can you tell us about this object?

Aurelia's body immediately relaxed once the strangers went on their way. So she stood up straight and gathered her courage.

"Watcher, I realize that many have bothered you with questions today, but I heard your call. And I will always offer my best to you, so in which way may I help?"

She didn't have the greatest vocabulary. But she hoped that her message got through without sounding like them. Pests.

Her Watcher blinked in acknowledgement. Perhaps he had already guessed her words before she ever entered the mansion. He began to speak and Aurelia clinged to every word.

"Actually, I have another take for you. We have all the townspeople and various... connections who can easily retrieve the item. We must not dwell in the past if we're to ever move forward. Our lives should not be abandoned because of one thief who will soon be caught. Do you not agree?"

Aurelia nodded her head, to show her concurrence.

"So I have recently learned of information regarding a transfer of sorts. This transfer was arranged under my nose, but it offers great opportunity. Now, girl, you’d be willing to help your Watcher? The item exchanged is something your Watcher desires. Would you be prepared to bring this merchandise to me?"

He already knew that she would be over-joyed for an opportunity to please him. "Of course! I would be honoured. What is it you'd like me to do?"

"The situation is this: A human with a very important weapon is meeting with a Sho'Kir in the market place. It is in one of the alleys nearby the booth announcing this Sho'Kir's services and hours. Now, his name is Mok'nar, and his stand looks like every other nearby, but it should be no problem for you, little one. The human is reported as looking a man of normal proportions, with silver hair and seen with and without a large black trench coat. Make sure, remember this Aurelia, that he has a suitcase. You need not know what is in the suitcase... but just as the two are trading, you are to ambush them and bring that suit case to me. Do you understand?"

Aurelia bit her lip and ran her fingers through he hair as she thought, recapping all the information. "So I find them in an alley close to Mok…-- Uhm... Uh... yes, Mok'nar' booth. The human will have a suitcase, and I will steal it and bring it to you." She looked back up at her Watcher for confirmation.

He nodded and left the room.

She knew what she had to do now. Aurelia made her way out of the mansion, and to her shack for just a moment. There, she took her sharp piece of metal and held it securely in her right hand, not noticing that she was clutching it so hard that the edges bit into her rough, calloused palm. Down the hill, she walked determined. She entered the disgusting marketplace full of many, many pests. Ungh... dealing with pests, only for her Watcher would she do such a thing.

"Mok'nar'shifal
15 hours of protection - 75 gold pieces
..."

It continued, but Aurelia could make out enough letters to know that this was the booth. The alleyway was just a few feet away. She pressed her back against the wall, as close to the corner as she dared. Voices. One human and one not. This was where the transfer was supposed to take place. Now all that was left to do was to figure out which pieces of dialog would let her know when the most opportune time to strike was.

OCC: Alright, I thought Baron had taken over my character. But I jsut checked this site for the first time in a while, and still it would seem there's been no introduction for him. So I finished. Do what you like... but with the way my role-playing has been, it'd probably be best to kill her or imprision her for your own advantage. So I'm sorry this has taken so long. I'm trying to deal with personal issues, but it's still no excuse. I hope this is enough.

Aurelia crept around to the side of the booth, listening to the lizardman harass the human over the price of whatever was in the case. After what seemed like an eternity, the deal was done, the goods sold for an amount of money that she could barely imagine. She then crawled around to the front and peeked in. It was just as her Watcher told her; a man with a coat and a Sho'kir holding a case. The two inside stood up as she burst in, slamming the metal shard into the Sho'kir's head while she snatched the case. The knife did not come out as easily as it went in. She wanted to stay and grab it, but she knew she would have to leave it because the human would be there any instant now. She turned to run and made a quick glance in the direction of the human, but he wasn't there.

She looked around the room. There was no sign of him anywhere; it was if he simply disappeared. She stood there, perplexed, and rather than running, crouched and removed the shard from the dead Sho'kir's head. The pattern on the steel was stunning, with the pest's blood slowly mixing with her own golden fluid. After a moment, she woke from her reverie and walked out the door, case in hand. Something wasn't right. She looked around the block for the man, and upon seeing nothing, she quickly walked in the direction of Alzis' manor.

The trip was uneventful; the streets were almost entirely deserted, so she could walk quickly. She glanced over her shoulder one last time as she rounded one of the last corners to the mansion, and in that moment, everything fell apart. She ran into someone as she looked over her shoulder; she stumbled backwards to recover her balance as she turned her head; she saw the man from the booth standing in front of her; she saw a fist slamming into her head; she saw nothing.
