I've received complaints from several people about some of the characters being overpowered - particularly Chaos_Descending's character, PTLIS' character, and Baron's character. Maybe you guys could tone them down a little? IM/PM me about it if you get the chance.

The game will start this weekend.

Changed... Good?

You know, I'm a little annoyed that you had to be a middle man. I won't take offense if you message me and tell me you have a problem with my character... That's a minor thing though.

Standard operating procedure, C_D, I am the "middle man" in my RP threads that I start, Icy is in his, Rand and Mad will be in RT2. Whether a complaint is legit, and how the Rp should run is basically his call, don't think of it as underhanded or anything, it's respecting the Chain of command.

meh, as I said, It's a minor deal.

As it was, i'm feeling a little buggy, and I wasn't thinking right yesterday. I don't want to wine or anything. I feel there never was a problem, cause I solved it. All I lack is the trust from others that I have took care of it. The only way to gain that trust is to play a character in an RP. Thus I will look forward to the start of this one.

Don't worry. It's not a lack of trust. As Clay said, it's standard procedure to go to the RP creator first when you think a character is overpowered. Don't mean a thang. Every person here would get the same treatment.

A long fucking time ago in the RT2 thread, I wrote:
Name: Leia Scott

Age: 16

Appearance: Rather... odd is the first term that comes to mind when you see her. Frizzy-curly hair that changes from mouse-brown to vivid red in the right lights, glasses too thin framed to be emo but too thick to be cute, half-lidded, lightly slanted eyes that are a mahogany a shade darker than her hair – her face is cute enough as a whole, but nothing special. If she exercised, she’d have the body of an Amazon; as it is, she’s just another tall, mildly overweight teen. Her eyes and hands are bound to change at any time, but this is covered later under her Talents.

Origin: Ever since she was a small child, maybe three or four years old, Leia wrote stories. Of course, they weren’t the best of stories – but it was writing, telling what could happen, talking about people that she wasn’t. It wasn’t until about age eleven – early puberty – that she wrote… And the character spoke back. She glanced into the mirror to see that her eyes were no longer the familiar colour of bayou mud. They were now the hypnotic indigo swirls of the demon that she’d been writing about.

Panicking, Leia ran screaming to her mother; the character yelling in her mind the entire time. The end result – from ages 11 to 15, she was shipped from one hospital to the next. The doctors wrote off the voices she heard as schizophrenic; however, they were never able to explain the way that her hands would be deformed after “attacks”, or the way her eyes never stayed the brown colour assigned to them on the charts. The only things she’d request at each hospital were notebooks and pens… Which would promptly disappear. To this date, only Leia and her characters know where those stories are.

She was released roughly a year before the beginning of RT2 for reasons of finally having a diagnosed paranormal ability of telekinesis; however, it should be noted that at the time of the testing, her eyes were a vivid, absinthe green, and her hands appeared stained with something dark.

Skinner is the last hope to keep her tied to some sort of reality, not that it's much of a hope. She's generally kept locked up in a padded room in the back, not as threatening as some, but with potential. She's often mumbling stories to herself in a way of keeping the characters in her head in line.

Personality: Leia herself is generally quite meek and shy. She flusters rather easily and is terrified of someone finding out how much she loses herself with her power. Though it’s hard to find, there is a backbone beneath the quiet exterior. She’s a bookworm through and through; mention a novel and she’s either read it or has plans to in the future.

Powers: Leia’s powers are hard to pin down. What stands out above everything else is her writing ability and the consequences of it. When her characters begin speaking to her, she will eventually have to write; this can also cover speaking the story out loud to herself. When she begins to vividly write from a particular characters point of view, the character begins to “take over”; first signs of this loss of self are the changing of hands to look like the character (example : if writing a warrior, Leia'’ hands will turn into tough, grizzled, battle-scarred, scary manhands) and the melting of brown into the colour of the character’s eyes.

There are MAJOR limitations to Leia’s powers. For one, she begins turning into the person; thus, if she’s writing a “Big Bad” from one of her stories, she’ll begin to take on the mindset of the Big Bad. Secondly, she cannot god-mod. She can only write when a character is speaking to her; likewise, when a character is speaking she finds it hard to do anything but write. Finally, she despises using her powers. Although she’s a writer at heart, losing herself when she writes has turned it into a painful experience. She will avoid writing unless the characters force her to or it’s a matter of someone else’s survival.

On a final note, it should be warned that her characters can, to an extent, “feel” what’s going on.

Note that I did change a few things from RT2 Leia. This girl will not be so gentle as she appears... And will need a notebook.

I remember her.

Please note that there is no way the doctors would let you near writing tools... then again, the inmates are another deal

I've realized a little problem with my character. He needs a way to be reliably controlled, even after breaking out. At least, if you want to keep all of the other characters alive. Anyone got suggestions? I really doubt keeping him bound and dragged along would be helpful (though it would be interesting) but it's all I can think of at this point.

I think I have a minimal solutions to some the the more violent patients.
Chaos would be able to realise that tempers are very fragile in this group. Chaos will be using his powers on everyone, subconsiously. This won't compleatly effect characters but it might make them able to keep themselves in check. Note, though, his power is really weak. It took him two month of active work on Lati, in order to make a signitficant change.

So you'll need to find a second way to control your temper, but Chaos will take the edge off of it.

On second though, he can do a little bit more using redirection and other tactics. We'll see how things develop.

That's funny. If only it were temper that set Morrie off. As it is, it's a certain word, or a feeling of fear for her life.

My character can do a lot, but as always, it is limited. He might be able to help a lot of people with a lot of things. And he will take delight in sowing seeds and watching them grow (e.g. benificial relationships between inmates). If you think your character is going to have a problem that might effect group dinamics, and need some way to impliment it, please, PM me. Chaos is all about starting stuff and waching things form.

Ghost, I might be able to instill a sense of loyalty and brotherhood in you character, which would make Morrie feel that protection lies with the group. I'm just pulling this out of my ass, and I can work with whatever you want.
Or do nothing, if that's what you want too.
I'm here for the group.

I'm still smoothing the edges of my character over, using Randykins as a buffer. As soon as I stop bouncing shit off his head, and actually write it all down... I'll have written it all down. And then you can read it, amazingly. <3

Okay, I'm posting my character's profile here... By the way, I changed his name from Apotheosis to Zarathustra (for both this thread and RT2). Anyway, be sure to read this profile, since there are some MAJOR differences between RT2-Zara and Skinner-Zara. After all, I don't want to be playing the same exact character in two threads, now do I?

B.F. SKINNER MEMORIAL SANITARIUM

CASE STUDY # 0001: O'NEIL, BRIAN D.

ALIASES: JOHNSON, THOMAS; "ZARATHUSTRA"

DATE OF BIRTH: 08/13/84
DATE OF ADMISSION: 09/23/00

APPEARANCE
HEIGHT - 6'4
WEIGHT - 200LBS
EYES: BLUE
HAIR: BROWN
RACE: CAUCASIAN

BEHAVIORAL DISORDERS: ANTISOCIAL PERSONALITY DISORDER; (UPDATE - 07/01/03) MULTIPLE PERSONALITY DISORDER

POWERS: CLASS 1 GENERAL TELEKINESIS [CONDITIONAL]; CLASS 1 SPECIALIZED TELEKINESIS (HEALING) [CONDITIONAL]
-------NOTES: "The patient's powers are activated when he listens to music, and they can only affect those within hearing range of the music he is listening to. Deaf people and others who cannot hear the music are not affected. If the music is emotional or upbeat, the patient gains incredibly powerful telkinetic abilities. If the music is contemplative or downbeat, the patient gains healing powers, which can be used on himself as well as others. The relative power of both these abilities depends upon the patient's emotional connection to the piece of music he is listening to."

CASE HISTORY:

10/23/00 - "Mr. O'Neil is the first and, thus far, only patient to be admitted to our newly-opened sanitarium, although several potential cases are currently in the process of being apprehended and brought to us. We have removed his vocal chords as well as his auditory organs to prevent him from using his powers. Strangely, however, the patient is still able to hear music, though he is deaf in all other respects. We have therefore kept him away from any and all musical sounds; O'Neil spends most of his day locked in a sound-proof chamber.

"He is a unique psychological case; he is extremely intelligent and seems to have no real psychoses other than a total lack of conscience and a propensity to commit horrible acts of violence and destruction. We have begun the conditioning process on him, but he does not seem to be responding positively to the treatment. However, we are still hopeful that further psychological training will produce positive results."

10/23/01 - "The patient has not been affected positively by our current treatment, and we are beginning to consider more drastic measures. It seems that the only option left is to utterly destroy the patient's current personality to such a degree that nothing will be left of what he once was."

10/23/02 - "We have been attempting, through a process of rigorous conditioning, to recreate the patient's personality. We have found that the patient's illness is too intimately bound to his nature for us to cure him without creating an entirely seperate identity. To this end, we have attempted to give the patient an new identity. We are trying to convince him that he is not Brian O'Neil, but Thomas Johnson, a man employed by the Department of Defense. So far, we have been unable to break him, but I believe that it is only a matter of time before we do."

7/01/03 - "The patient seems to have finally accepted his new identity. We have persuaded him that he is actually an employee of the Department of Defense who is currently undergoing rigorous psychological training in preparation for a mission to the Martian colonies. We have managed to implant in him an entirely new personality, including false memories. We would consider him cured at this point and send him off for military training, if it were not for one problem. Tests have revealed that his former personality still manifests itself whenever the patient hears music. Since it is only via music that his powers can work, it is imperative that the patient's new personality is in control during these times. Thus, further conditioning is required before he is fit for military duty."

10/23/03 - "Despite our best efforts, the patient has not responded further to our conditioning. His 'Thomas' identity is quite in control at all times except when he is hearing music, which we expose him to now every month to monitor his progress. It is only under these conditions that the 'Zarathustra' personality becomes dominant."

10/23/04 - "Still no progress. It almost seems as if the patient cannot maintain his sane personality while employing his powers. 'Zarathustra' is for all intents and purposes utterly destroyed except when the patient is exposed to music. We are again keeping the patient away from all forms of music, and are attempting to see if we can modify the nature of his powers such that he can express them without having to listen to music."

This is the official plan as it stand. The RP will start tommorow (Sunday). The first four post will be done by (in order) Zarathustra, Chaos (me), Clay, and Yevaud. After which we shall start to introduce the other characters. The hows can be discussed here.

Cool?

I call the post after Yevaud.

The hows I have a vague idea of. I'd like Morrie to be rescued by Z. Why? Because I want her to get a serious case of hero worship for him.

I'm content to break out myself in an extremely ludicrous fashion. But hey, it'd be fun.

and I am to inform you that there is yet another day delay. It seems Zarathustra has written the post out and had it destroyed. He'll be posting tommorow.

I'd like to attach Melissa's character to someone else's character... Personally, I think Melissa would prefer Thinman's chara or Clay's chara, (At least, that's what she told me) since Chaos seems to have a lot of people attached to him already.
