"Hmmm, perhaps this wasn't the best idea..."

Icy had begun to feel faint. When he had first awoken, he had hardly noticed his weakness - there were more important things to worry about, like the extinguishing the fire. But now, in the mech, after a few minutes of steering it and controlling the water jet, he started to lose focus.

"I need... water..."

Icy put a thin, plastic tube that had been dangling from the ceiling of the cockpit into his mouth. He pressed a button on the control panel, and water began to flow through the tube. The water was invigorating, and quenched his thirst, but Icy's condition was not getting any better. The consistent concentration required to pilot the robot was taking its toll on Icy, and he felt himself slipping from consciousness.

"Damn," he thought to himself... "I need to extinguish the fire... But I'm so tired and hungry... I need..."

Icy was overwhelmed with exhaustion. He could no longer withstand the stress of piloting the mech, and lost consciousness.

*Before Lifyre realizes what is going on Icy is up in the WoP fighting fires*

"Shit... he shouldn't be up there..." *Lifyre looks around trying to find some help with Icy when Vandal returns*

Vandal: "Lifyre, couldn't find any 'energy' food whatever that's suposed to be. In fact there's nothing in the way of food left around here. It all got blown up or incinerated."

"That's ok Vandal. Thank you for looking. I'll make due, I have a candy bar in my pocket. And at this point energy food would be anything... I take it my pack didn't make it either. Well we have bigger problems anyway."

"We have a blue monkey in a flying Robot of Death about to do a good immitation of a good victorian woman in bed..."

"I need to see to Ez before I go to bed and get some much needed rest. Will someone... oh, wait... he's landing. Good."

*Lifyre looks up to the east feeling the sun reach over the horizon* "Man I hate it when nights disappear like this... Well maybe I can still squeeze in a few hours before the world wakes up..."

*Lifyre walks back over to Mad and Ez. Only stumbling once...*

\Antenor reaches into one of the pouchs around his waist and pulls something out.

Here, take this. Its a space marine ration pack, its full of energy and nutrition, and some other things that are little hard to digest unless your a space marine.

*Lifyre is a tad stunned from the generosity*

Thank you guys. Thank you very much...

*kinda to himself* I gotta get used to being around people again...

*Lifyre eats the rations saving the candybars for later and promtly falls into a semi-torpor state as his body recovers its energy and digests the food optimally, for once Lifyre is truly happy. Momentarily forgetting about Mad and Ez...*

OOC: Actor is in the desert, all angsty and stuff. /OOC.

/In the pitiful illumination of the cars headlights Actor digs, deep into the ground using his knife and a small shovel he found in the boot of the car.
/Watching him is a figure dressed in black

A: Shes dead now, are you happy? Thats everyone I've ever loved, gone.

The figure behind him is silent.

A: Why do you people torment me? Why do you bastards make me your puppet? All I want is....

/The priest looks at Actor.

M: Yes, Actor, what is it you want? Love, you killed everyone you've ever loved, happiness, same again. Revenge? Do you want vengance, on the people who control you?

/Actor sighs, digging himself further into the ground, not looking up, just looking foward.

A: Why are you here, she didn't die, not in the way you people look at things like this.

/The priest looks unconfortably at Actor, dressed in regular street clothes he could easily be mistaken for a lay-person.

M: The gods are frightened Actor, Fold, he's scaring us. He passed through and sooner or later he will turn his attention to us, after he kills you people, we need to to destroy him for us.

A: Whats in it for me?

M: We will give you Paladin.

A: You'll sacrifice one of your own to save your collective asses?

M: Yes.

A: Why? I'm going to kill him anyway, why offer this now?

/The priest is silent, looking at his friend digging.

M: The other expatriots are in a small villiage west of here, you should be able to find it, the map in the car has it circled in red.

A: One more thing. I need to know where this place called the Farm is, I have a promise to keep to Fiona.

M: After Fold is destroyed, you can go there, I will show you then.

A: I made a promise, and I intend to stick to it.
/Turning Actor realises that the priest has vanished into the darkness. Much like he arrived, for a second Actor wonders whether he is dreaming or not.

Walking over to her body Actor carefully picks her up and places her into the hole in the ground.
To himself he begins to pray.

A: Rest here, Fiona, in peace with all my love.

Actor begins to pour the dirt he had just moved on top of her body, burying her forver.
Removing his knife he looks at the blade for a moment.

A: David, I know right now you can't speak, I still only vaguely understand why, but you were handed down through generations of my family, stand guard over Fiona, and tell anyone who comes here that she died, loved by her father.

Actor buries the blade into the dirt. Waiting for a brief moment he walks back to the car, puts it into gear and drives off.
The Hawk flies silently above him, seeing nothing in the darkness, only feeling her masters pain.

Ow... It hurt. Something hurt. Everything hurt. Something... buzzed. In the back of his head? No, in the front... Was it the front? Where...? He couldn't tell. Everything was jumbled. He opened his eyes, and they closed, he moved his hand, and his foot twitched. It was all... wrong. All twisted, all snared, all twirled up into a ball. The string, there was more string than there should have been, so much string in such a little space, and the knots were impossible... The string ran through the other string.

"... s.." He blinked, and then coughed, a small amount of blood dribbling out of the corner of his mouth. There were... images, things in his head, poundin, screaming. Flashes... On. Off. On. Off....

"KiLL TheM aLL..." It was... It was Adric's voice... but... different. Heavier... Places he'd never been, treasures he'd never stolen, they all flashed through his head, as places he had been, and treasures he had stolen. Possibilities? Random chance affecting the outcome of a single event, splitting the future into 'branches', pathways that would split and split, until they were un-recognisable from another. And the numbers... The numbers that didn't add, couldn't add, and yet did. His left hand tried to trace the numerals into the dirt, but the low wind stirred it, making it unreadable. He had to get them out of his head.

"... ch..s..." He pulled a blade, a small knife, from one of his pockets, and slashed open his hand, the crimson blood dripping down onto the dusty ground. Using the blood as ink, he wrote the numbers out, the pressure on his skull lessening as he did so, the pain in his hand, distant.

"Ch.an...ce.." There was still something missing, a piece from the numeric puzzle that he'd scrawled out, something that would complete it, and stop the pounding once and for all. He could feel someone's hands on his shoulder, shaking him, a distant voice calling his name. It was distracting. The puzzle was all that mattered. His hand flashed back, catching Madadric clean in the jaw, making the Runescribe rock in place, nearly falling over. With a growl, he retaliated, his fist slamming down onto the head of the already muddled Ezelek, rendering unconcious once more.

Actor drives into the night.

A: I know you aren't real you know.

/The stranger in the back seat says nothing.

A: Your not here, your just part of my over active imagination.

/Still he says nothing.

A: I'm not listening to you, you are a murd...

P: A merdererer Mr Actor? You can't speak, where you ran I was there, those you cleaned, I watched through their eyes and yours, I am balance Actor.

A: Shut Up, you are not real.

/They drive on, U2's Sweetest Thing begins to play over the radio.

P: Does this song remind you of her betrayal, of your own failure?

/Actor pulls out a pistol and shoots a clip into the back seat.

A: SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!! YOU ARE DEAD, I'LL FUCKING PUT YOU AWAY YOU ARSEHOLE...

/The figure now in the front passenger seat looks at him.

P: You won't beat Fold without my help you know.

A: I won't fail, I will kill him.

P: You'll fail, and afterwards you will have to face me.

/Actor looks foward into the darkness, the slight glow of a town ahead shows his destination.

A: Your brother is ready to give you up to save himself. Your fellow gods disgust me, at least you understand a wariors honour. That to kill someone without opposition is no victory.

/Silence, Actor looks to see he has arrived at the Town, and his passenger has vanished.

Fires burning around the place Actor begins to grin as he sees assorted Expatriots standing around watching a mech spraying water onto a fire.

A: I'm guessing that Rand is better based on the destruction.

/Assorted members of the group turned to look at him.
/Wolf, seeing Actor looked at the car, bullet holes dented throughout its frame, blood covering Actor from head to toe.

W: You look pretty bad Actor, you okay?
/Actor notices Rand unconcious at Wolfs feet.

A: Yeah, I'm okay, we ran into some problems on the way.

W: Where did the girl go?

A: I took her to her family, she's safe now, I made her a promise I plan to keep, but until then I'm got business to attend to with Fold.

OOC: I'm guessing even though Icy is fatigued that the water canon hasn't stopped.

As the automatic landing system of the Wrath of the Proletariat delivered Icy safely on the ground, Lifyre quickly ran towards him and got him out, healing powers flashing once again. Rand got up to his feet once again. The first one he saw was Actor.

"Ah...you're back as well Comrade Actor. Do you know where comrade Icy went? He seemed a bit high strung on the phone."

Actor looked at Lifyre who had just finished healing the monkey. "He's fine."

"Ah, good, last time I used the Wrath of the Proletariat he was endangering his own health rather considerable, getting excited like that." He shook his head

"We're here actually." Miaoming mentioned behind him.

Rand turned around and grinned. "Comrade Miaoming, Comrade Kitsune! Good to see you! Say, have you seen that treacherous dog? He attacked me but I am loath to say that he has managed to slip through my fingers once again."

"I'm here you psychopatic piece of trash." Wolf's voice was deadpan. "And as you're not a TOTAL danger to everyone around right now I guess I'll still have to put off putting you down until Fold is dead."

"Then I shall look forward evern more to the tyrant's death, so I have no more reason to tolerate your presence dog!" He turned to Kitsune. "Enough about him, how did you fare up till now? I myself have little memory fo what happened after we were....misled." Both Rand and Kitsune avoided each other's eyes. There were no wounds visible on Rand's body, but the red shirt looked as if someone had taken a knife to it, and the red was darker then usual, giving off the odour of blood. Rand's blood.

Kitsune finally broke the silence. "Look...Rand...what happened then..."

"No need for any explanations Comrade Kitsune. You did what you thought was right. I myself have been tricked like that at times as well. Let us just extract further vengeance upon the Bourgeoisee for their tricks. There is no blame on you."

Kitsune's eyes grew wide. "No blame on me? I friggen' tore you half to death. You were a bloody mash on the floor! I didn't just want to kill you Rand, I was hurting you with everything I've got."

"If I had betrayed comrades as you had thought I had, the only thing that you would be to be reproached is that I am not dead, Comrade Kitsune. There is no punishment too great for class traitors."

Kitsune was now getting angry it seemed. "DAMN IT Rand, don't try to pretend it was nothing. I know how much pain you felt. I can't just...leave it at that as if it never happened! Hyperspace is dead now. I want to come clean with everything that happened there."

Rand made a dismissive gesture. "There 'is' nothing to come clean ith comrade. You dispatched pain and death against what you saw a class traitor. We both know no what sides we're on. No crimes against the Revolution have been made. The matter is settled."

Kitsune seemed more discouraged by Rand's speech then anything else. "You CAN'T just leave it like that. Come on. Even the score Rand! I WANT it." he pointed at his chin.

Rand looked horrified. "I will NOT strike a comrade, Kitsune! We need our strength to battle Fold. As I said, there is no debt."

"Well I THINK there is."

"You are WRONG!"

"Rand...could I have a word with you?" Miaoming had watched the proceedings orriedly. It seemed like she had made a decision, a dangerous one. She took Rand a bit farther and whispered something in his ear. Kit looked on as Rand's looked shocked at Miaoming's face, who nodded gravely. Outrage took the place of shock and Rand turned towards Kitsune.

Rand was not musclebound, the torn red T-shirt only eccentuated this, where the bomber jacket had hidden it. Still, Rand's punch hit Kitsune jaw with enough force to prevent Kitsune from even thinking to use any protection, not that he would have if he could. Before his head stopped ringing Rand's left fist hit him in the solar plexus, knocking the air out of him and causing the blond haired youth to double over in pain. Putting full force behind his leg, Rand then brough his knee up against Kitsune's chin, snapping his head back and causing him to fall backwards on the ground.

When he regained his bearings Rand was standing over him, one hand grabbing his collar, the other one pointing at his face. His face was filled with a fury normally reserved for people he was about to throw explosives at. "You will NOT do such a thing again Comrade Kitsune. NEVER!" Still looking upset the black haired terrorist let go of him and turned to walk off when Miaoming stopped him.

"Rand... one more thing. You know your jacket and sickle were destroyed in the....misunderstanding right? Where those...dear to you?"

The anger seemed to have left Rand already. He had a guilty smile on his lips. "ell...I'm not supposed to attach myself to material property. After all, those things are at the service of the Revolution, not me, and are of course tools of them but....I had an attachement to them. That sickle has been the one Icy made for me when we first met, enhancing it after the sickle I had originally with me had it's blade broken. and the jacket is the one I wore when I woke up 8 years ago, containing the leaflet that told me of the Struggle so..."

Miaoming took two things from her sack. It was a small piece of strange metal and a piece of leather, one in each hand. She closed her eyes and concentrated. Suddenly she dropped both the sickle that cut her hand and the bomberjacket, still filled with grenades, that was too heavy.

"My sickle! And the jacket filled with the tools of the Revolution! Miaoming this is a great service indeed." Rand's face was lit up with joy as he donned the vest, putting the sickle in it's proper place.

"We'll call it even." Miaoming smiled. "Besides, it's all for the Revolution isn't it?" there was a sad undertone in those last words, that Rand completely missed.

"Of course. Still, Thank you comrade Miaoming. Heh, Wait till comrade Icy sees this....Hey Comrade Icy!"

Kitsune got up next to Miaoming. His jaw was swelling. "Say...what DID you tell him?"

"You don't wanna know."

"Oh come on. I wanna know what I shall not do again. Never." After the surprise and pain had worn off, Kitsune sounded rather cheerful again.

"And I'm not gonna tell you?"

"Why not?"

"Because you're gonna mope again and feel guilty."

"I do NOT mope! I just...think about things."

"Sure Kit, sure... Let's go follow Rand and try to prevent icy from strangling him." Kit shrugged and walked. He looked pretty carefree. Miaoming almost cursed himself from nearly letting the words slip through her mouth again. The words she had told Rand.

Kit tried to abandon me for a moment

[OOC] Rand, if you have a problem with what your character says, just tell me and I'll change it. [/OOC]

Icy slowly began to regain consciousness.

"What-?" Icy muttered.

"You got up and tried to be a hero instead of resting like I told you to," Lifyre responded. "Anyway, now that you're okay, I have other people to attend to." Lifyre wandered over to Ez and Mad.

Icy was lying on the ground, wrapped in blankets, a bottle of water by his side. Icy picked up the bottle weakly and took a drink from it. He turned his eyes toward the huge machine that he had just recently been rescued from. It stood, silently, motionlessly, in the center of the field, in almost the same area that it had taken off from.

"Well, I did manage to put about half the fire..."

"...Before you fainted. Comrade Icy, you must be more cautious next time. You need to preserve your strength for the fight with the fascist Fold."

"Rand?" Icy looked up.

"Glad to see you awake again, comrade!"

"I think you're the last person who should be warning me to be more cautious."

"What ever do you mean?"

"Rand, how many times have I told you never to play with my mech? First of all, you can't fit; I'm less than 2 feet tall and you're almost 6. Second of all, you don't know what the hell you're..."

"But comrade, I thought we were being threatened!"

"But, Rand... Wait, what am I doing?" Icy sighed. Arguing with Rand was pointless, and Icy of all people should know this. "Fine Rand, you're right, I could see how your actions made sense from your point of view. So, how did you do without me?"

"Well, after your capture, comrade Actor and I began our search for you. In the process we discovered that Kit and MiaoMing had been captured as well. So, comrade Actor and I managed to trace your location to that fascist dungeon, and we, uhm, freed you all... I think... But then comrade Kitsune and I experienced an, er, mis... understanding... And after that I don't remember anything until I woke up on the farm an hour or so ago."

"I see..." Icy did not have the heart to inform Rand that Icy's "capture" had been voluntary, and besides, if he had said that Rand would ignore him anyway.

"Well, Rand," Icy said warmly, "I'm glad to see you've come through all this intact..."

"The feeling is mutual, comrade."

Icy took another sip of his water. He was starting to feel better already.

As lyfyre approaches Mad and Ez, mad sitting in the mud, and ez lying in it, with his face to the side, he notices the runescribe seemingly grumbling to someone off to his left, but is unable to catch the words.

As Lyrfire approaches, Mad stops taliing to the puppet, who has once again returned, and is badgering the man non-stop to pretty much kill every living thing withing a 20 kilometer radius.

"you don't need to stay like htis...MORTAL, anymore! it's right there! RIGHT THERE! The time for holding back is long gone! you've tasted it now! and you know you want more of that ice and fire blasting through you like a devil's Hurricane. let's do it! LET'S FIGHT THEM ALL, RIGHT NOW!"

"NO!" mad snarls out loud at the puppet, banishing it's persiistent presence for the moment, but alerting lifyre's keen senses to a dangerous imbalence in the runescribe's mind.

"Mad, are you ok? things seem very serious. i can help, you know." the fallen asks.

Mad waves the offer of help away with a gesture. "the last thing my head needs right now is someone else in it. and if you are what Jagged suspects you are, inside my head is probably not the safest place for you...things are...a little out of hand in there, and they just need some time to sort themselves out..."

Looking at the runescribes unique eyes, Lifyre sees a little of what Mad is talking about, and a small part of him is glad he isn't in the mortal man's head right now. i could probably take it...but i don't know if i could take HIM taking it.

Mad gestures to the unconscious man next to him in the mud. 'you may want to give Ez a once over though. he should be fine, apart from a bump on the back of his head, but the ol' once over never hurt." Mad wipes a trickle of blood off his chin, from a split lip delivered to him by Ez's automatic reaction.

The punch mad had delivered to the back of Ez's head when Ez had hit him had very much been a reaction itself, but the well it had sprung from had not solely been mad. Wilth Dischord internalized, and running riot thoughout his ewntire pshyche, there are many things mad has only a tenuous grip on. his more passionate emotions, such as anger, being one of them.

As Lyfire bends over to check on the prone Ezelek, mad stands, makes an effort at wiping the mud off his ass, and mentally prepares himself for picking up the guitar.

As soon as his hand wraps around the neck of the instrument, the hurricane of chaos in his head increases in ferocity, velocity, and volume, almost overwhelming him and spilling back out into reality once again, but some quick mental footwork by mad shifts the world of hims mind around it as such that it does not escape. oh man, how ling can i keep this up? even riding the flow, it's taking everything i have to not explode on the spot...and letting Dischord leak out seems to upset a lot of the others...

However, as the Runescribe/Chaosbard stides over to the group gathering near the bloody huge mech, his mind does some chaotic evolution all it's own, and before Mad can rightly tell what's going on, he's got a whole new subconscious, specifically designed to deal with the utter and complete unpredictability that is the Dischord energy.

"or to be more exact, you found that part of your mind that you have always had. we are a rare one, Adric The Mad. i won't say we were the first, and who can say if we will be the last, but by the time the next comes along, there will be no sign of civilised life on this planet anymore, and the sun of this system will be long dead. A rare breed indeed!" The puppet croons in the Chaosbard's ear. mad just continues walking, not even caring what the annoying little voice has to say.

Upon seeing rand, mad can't help himself grinning like a fool. For some reason he cdould not fathom, Mad finds himself liking the completely delusional nutbar immensely, and is well pleased to see the crazy commie alive, and seemingly well.

Resting the guitar on his shoulder like a club, and walking faster Mad comes up to Rand, who is rubbing his hand. mad slaps the man on his shoulder heartilly, nad grinning ear to ear, exclaims; "Rand you devil! It's good to see you in health! i'm glad you found us again!"

Mad looks around, sees Icymonkey, Kitsune, Miaowming, Actor, Wolf, and Riuku. he gives them a warm greeting also.
"good to see all you guys again too. we really do need the numbers to fight Fold." then mad's expression and tone grows serious, and there's an edge of the all-pervading madness in his eyes, manifesting as a firm resolution that brooks no argument or sway, every bit as blind and one-sided as rand's fanaticisim for the revolution.

"the time for half-commitments is over. untill we finish this, there IS NO AFTER. unitl we have won and secured our futures, the coming fight is the end for all of us. anything less than TOTAL BLIND COMMITMENT is certain failure." with this Mad looks particularly at kitsune and miaoming, before turning his gaze pointedly at rand and wolf.

"That also goes for trusting your team mates. as of now we are a team, not just a bunch of individuals. you have to trust every member implicitly, and they have to be able to trust you. and no 'until this is finished' or 'i guess i will have to'. This is it, everything or nothing. you either say, 'i cannot do this' and go home, or you say 'It's Go Time.' and we do this thing."

Mad looks at those in front of him, and raises his voice into the night, so that those nearby can also hear him.

"So what's it to be? IS THIS GO TIME?!"

OOC:haha, sorry, couldn't resist that cheesy line.

time to lay it on the line folks. have your characters got what it takes to sacrifice their egos and work as a team? how far does their commitment go? can differences be put aside? ask yourseles these questions, and MAKE THE CHARACTERS ASK THEMSELVES.

all characters have time to get themselves together and catch at least the tail end of Mad's little pep talk,

as always, if my use of your character is out by any margin, gove me a hoy in the OOC thread, and i'll fix it up as best i can. LET's ROCK AND ROLL.

"So what's it to be? IS THIS GO TIME?!"

Mad is right, Icy thought to himself. The fight with Fold is approaching. I'll be entrusting my life to every one of these people... And every one of these people will be entrusting their life to me. Icy wasn't used to teamwork. Like Rand, he either worked alone or as part of the Dynamic Commie Duo.

Saving Rand's life would be easy. Icy had done it hundreds of times before, and he knew he would not hesitate to do it again. He knew Rand would do the same for him, and for all of the other Expatriates, for they were his comrades. Even the ones Rand disliked were helping to defeat tyranny, so they must be treated as comrades as well.

There were other Expatriates, however, in whom Icy was less confident. Wolf, for example. He knew that Wolf despised Rand, and Wolf made it clear at every opportunity he had that he would not let Rand escape him after Fold was gone. Wolf was somewhat less hostile towards Icy, but nonetheless Icy could tell that his death would not bother Wolf in the least. None of the Expatriates mattered to Wolf in the end; he just wanted to defeat Fold. So Wolf was the outsider of the group; however, he was also a soldier, and like all soldiers, he did what had to to get a job done, disregarding his emotions. As much as Wolf disliked the Expatriates, Icy knew he would remain faithful to them until Fold was defeated.

Kitsune's problems were the opposite of Wolf's. Whereas Wolf was dedicated but uncaring, Kitsune was caring but undedicated. Icy knew that Kitsune cared about the other Expatriates; however, Kit was very easily distracted by his emotions. He had abandoned the group on several occasions. Icy could understand why; Kit's years with Hyperspace had obviously made him a very unstable person, and on top of that Kit was a teenager. However, the reasons for Kit's fickleness were unimportant, and Icy hoped that Kit could temporarily put aside his personal problems and fight with the team.

Then there was Kit's relation with Icy in particular. To a certain extent, they both understood each other in a way that none of the other Expatriates, aside from MiaoMing, could. They had both experienced first-hand the evils of Hyperspace; they both knew what it was like to be the product of a scientific experiment gone awry. The bond formed by this sympathy had been nearly broken by Kit's attack on Rand. However, Icy had forgiven Kit, more or less, and he knew that he could still count on Kit, and Kit could still count on him.

MiaoMing was a different matter. Icy had the same sympathy for MiaoMing that he had for Kit. However, Hyperspace had effected her differently than it had effected Kit. She was less fickle and less quick to anger. However, she was just as emotional as Kit, and just as sensitive, if not more so. She was not as aggressive and not as violent; perhaps this was because she was not nearly as powerful. Nevertheless, Icy knew she was faithful to the Expatriates, and faithful to Kitsune above all. His only concern was the fact that violence seemed to disturb her; he remembered what had happened in the parking lot with Rand and the cop. This might prove to be her downfall in the coming battle.

Then there was madadric. The problem with Adric was that he was just fucking nuts. Icy wasn't sure what was happening with him, but lately mad had been hearing voices, and he kept mentioning something about Dischord. Something told Icy that mad was referring to more than the guitar he carried with him. However, as insane as mad was, Icy knew, for some reason, that he would fight Fold to the death, and wouldn't abandon any of the Expatriates... for now, at least. It was clear from his speech that mad was now determined to destroy Fold by any means necessary, and adric realized the importance of teamwork.

Icy didn't know enough about Ezelek to determine how he'd act in the fight. However, if he was a friend of mad, Icy reasoned, he must not be playing with a full deck either. Hopefully, however, Ez possessed mad's determination.

Antenor and Trolius' relationship to the rest of the group was similar to Wolf's. Although they might trust the other Expatriates more than Wolf did, they loathed Rand with a hatred that even Wolf could not match. Their relationship to Icy was almost as bad. Whereas Wolf simply considered Icy a nuisance, the space marines considered him an evil mutant freak of nature. However, like Wolf, they were soldiers, and they possessed an even greater deidication to their mission than Wolf did. They were servants of the Emperor, and Fold was an abomination, a prideful menace who was attempting to usurp the place of God and the Emperor. Icy knew that, whatever their attitude toward him, they would come to his aid in the heat of battle.

And of course there was Actor. He seemed like a very shady character at first, and indeed his motives were dubious. Originally he wanted to kill Kitsune, but then it turned out that this was just a ploy, and his real target was Fold. However, somewhere along the line something had changed in Actor. It had happened some time between when Icy left the Expatriates at the Sherm's and when Actor appeared at the Hyperspace compound. He was no longer the cold-blooded assassin he had been at the diner; somehow, the fight against Fold had become personal for him; Icy could see it in Actor's eyes, and in the way he spoke. Icy remembered Actor mentioning something about his daughter; he wondered how she fit in to his sudden personality change.

Actor's relationship with Icy was not as deep as the one Icy had with Rand, or even Kit and MiaoMing. However, unlike Wolf and the space marines, Actor was not hostile to him (at least not openly), and Icy knew that he could count on the assassin.

I wonder where Actor went, anyway, Icy thought to himself.

Icy turned his gaze to Lifyre, currently helping Ez and mad. Lifyre had obviously been a great help to the Expatriates with his healing ability; and he had already saved almost every one of the Expat's lives at least once. He held no prejudice toward any member of the group; he would save the life of Wolf just as quickly as he would save the life of Rand. Lifyre had certainly been a vital component of the Expatriates up until now, as the the team tried to survive and regroup; Icy hoped that this would continue as they went on the offensive.

Riuku was a steadfast, loyal Expatriate; adventurous, though perhaps a bit naive. He didn't seem to bear a grudge against any of the other Expatriates, and certainly not against Icy or Rand. As long as he didn't get distracted, Riuku would provide a great asset to them in the coming fight.

Then there was Vandal. His powers were similar to mad's, and Vandal was cooperating with mad in creating some sort of weapon out of the guitar mad had; however, his personality was quite different than the insane Tasmanian. Vandal, unlike the other runescribe, was quite sane; he was a soldier, and, like the other military types in the Expatriates, he knew how to get a job done without letting his emotions or anything else get in the way. His feelings toward Rand were less hatred than minor annoyance; he certainly didn't hate Rand as much as Wolf and the space marines did. Vandal didn't seem to have any negative feelings toward Icy that Icy could detect, but Icy was a friend of Rand, and a radical as well. However, once again, Icy knew Vandal's sense of duty would prevail over whatever likes or dislikes he might have for the others.

And that was the group - the Expatriates. It is up to us, all of us, to destroy Fold, Icy thought to himself. The fate of the world is in our hands.

What Wolf thinks about Rand does not matter.

What Rand thinks about Wolf does not matter.

What Trolius thinks about Icy does not matter.

None of these things mattered. The Expatriates were bound together, not by any common love of each other, by their common hatred - a hatred of Fold, and a desire to guarantee that Fold would not do with their world as he saw fit. "Our world may be fictional," Icy thought, "but it's our world, god damnit, and I won't let some upstart Watcher-wannabe take it away from us." Perhaps the prophecy was true - perhaps Fold was the fire mage - perhaps it would be Icy who killed Fold, and perhaps Icy would die in the process. This was of no importance. The death of Fold should be the only thought in Icy's mind; the how, the why, the who - were all secondary.

As cheesy as it sounded, mad was right. It was, indeed... go-time.

He listened to the young mans words and thought. This was it; the start of the battle, what happened after this point was the will of The Emperor. Those who where faithful to him would succeed, even if they didn't know that they where. Those who where not would die for it was his will that things where done, in his name where the battles fought. The discussion he had to make was an easy one for him. What the others did he was not worried about, his task, his duty, his life was part of a divine plan and it was not his place to argue with it.

He looked at the others, some he considered friends, others were useful to him and some were heretics, mutants or rogue psykers that some within the Imperium would not tolerate them but were necessary to the task at hand, and he would not be the first one to cause this struggle with their task at hand.

He looked at Rand. This man had named him a class traitor, what right did he have to do so, this man whom had only seen this world, this man who knew little of the Imperium. No, Rand did not know what a traitor truly was. He entertained the idea of teaching him what a traitor really was after this was over, but put that thought aside for now.

He looked at Icy. This being was a mutant, and mutants where not something to be trusted. He remembered the mutants on his home world and though they where more disfigured than the simian they where the same in mind he felt. He still to this day could not believe that they let these abominations live and work as part of the workforce on some worlds. But for all the sins that Icy had committed by being alive he knew that he would perform his duty, he would make sure that he did so.

He looked at Kitsune and MiaoMing. They where two young people whose bodies had been corrupted by others. They where two different people but formed a balance with each other, what one lacked the other provided. They would be very useful in the upcoming battle as both where powerful in there own rights.

He looked at Madadric. He knew that this young mans mind was warped by the powers it contained. He knew that many would consider him to be a great threat to the Imperium. He knew that it was only because of the powers that he contained that his mind was so damaged; it was one of the hardest things to bear about being a psykers, the voices, and the beasts that clawed at your mind. His man had not been visited by one of the black ships of the inquisition that patrolled the universe seeking these young psykers and assessing them. Had they found him and cleared him useful then he would have been trained and he would have learnt to control his powers. Even though his mind was disturbed, his spirit was focused. He would fight hard, and he would be willing to die for his cause like a true servant of The Emperor.

He looked at Trolius. He already knew where he stood with this. He had know him most of his long life and had fought in countless battle zones with him. He would stand by his friends and would watch over his squad mates till all where dead.

He looked at all the others and summed up that although many would be considered heretics, traitors or mutants, they all would perform their duty, they all would see this fight done and their enemy destroyed.

He remembered his oaths to the Emperor and his primarch and he swelled with pride that once again he would be doing the Emperors work.

“The oldest legends tell of the noble Sanguinius, sire of the Blood Angels. They tell of his grace and beauty; his love for humanity; his pure soul and unswerving loyalty to the Emperor. It is known that he had the power of prophecy. His soul was pure and his prophesies all can to be. Because of this his acts are even more selfless. He faced the Chaos Warmaster in his lair, when that foul beast was at the height of its power. Even before the pacts with the Dark Gods, the traitorous Fiend was all but unstoppable. Yet, knowing this, noble Sanguinius still met it blade-to-blade, eye-to-eye. When the Treacherous Serpent whispered promises of glory and strength in his ear he did not listen. Even as the Great traitor was poised on the brink of infernal victory, the Lord of the Blood Angels as not swayed, though he knew it would cost him his life. Like all true servants of the Emperor, the Noble Angel knew that his soul would be forever with the Emperor; a reward far greater than any in this mortal world.”

“And so they fought – the Angel and the Beast. Titanic it must have been, between those two gods amongst men. Long they must have rained blows on each other, until it seemed that the life of the universe hang in the balance. And yet, despite all his glorious might at arms, and his noble and pure mind, Sanguinius was bested. The despicable trickeries of Chaos were his undoing, for he could not have been beaten any other way. But even at that last moment as the blade of death waited to strike him, Sanguinius would not turn from the path of Light. Thus it was that the noble Sanguinius, Lord of the Blood Angels, passed form this world. He who was everything a man should be was taken from us by the Darkness.”

“The Emperor has placed this path before me, and though my death may lie upon it I will walk it as my primarch did 10 thousand years before for that is my purpose, and was it not said by the Emperor himself that the blood of martyrs is the seed of humanity’s future”

*Riuku takes out his busted teleporter peices he takes out a small almoast flat box and opens it. there are small circuts in it and a round green cell (battery) he then takes out an item that looks like a pen. he lats out the peices and sees what needs to be fixed. he sets two peices together and press the pen to them there is a small flash as the peices fuse together frome the heat. after a while riuku has a crude looking remote.*

icy> will that thing work?
Riuku> i really have no idea. but it should.

*riuku press a few buttons and a small white portal opens and out comes another teleporter. this one has fewer buttons ans is covered with a vert shiney metal.*

Icy>whats that?
Riuku>this thing opens trans dimensional portals.it bacically rips opens a new one in time and space spitting you out in a diffrent dimension. well that's how it should work. i've never really tried it out on my self but any thing i put into it i could never get back. if fold is gonna play with us i think we should have a back up plan and this is it.it will eather kill anything within a 20 mile radius or send it to a diffrent dimension.

*Riuku pockets the thing and opens another portal. and out comes another teleporter.*

Riuku> any one need anty thing?

Vandal had turned away, heading back into the ruins of the house, finding the way downstairs. Shoving aside debris, avoding stepping into small fires that still lingered, he made his way into the basement. Most of the supplies that had beenstored in these rooms wer now destroyed, but he hoped to salvage what he could. he found a small bag that had survived, thel eather scorched but whole. Various things were shoved into the bag as he went, a few cns that hadn't burst from the heat, a pair of knvies, other small things. The .45 handgun eh d found miraculously still working under neath a piece of still smoking debris, and a small box of ammo had been thrown across the room, whee it had slid under a burst water piepe, keeping it cool, while thep lastic box kept the ammo dry. It would be god enough to replace his own shotgun pistol which had been rendered useless in the clash outside. Sighing at the lack of salvagables, Vandal searched the rest of the ruined building, occasionally being forced to douse a sudden flame that sprang up, and finding very little worth salvaging.

Kitsune stood off to the side, thinking over Mad's words. As corny as they were, he had been thinking a lot of the same things . . .

Could he trust Rand? He'd proven to himself, at least, that he had very little trust in the madman. As long as Rand thought Kit was on his side, Kit was safe, but would Rand think that way forever? Kit didn't know. He'd just have to . . . hope things worked out.

Icy, he could trust. The monkey might have some residual grudges against Kit, but Kit knew why. He wasn't sure he wouldn't have them too, if he were in the same position. However, Icy seemed willing to put those issues aside to deal with Fold.

Fold. The name snapped Kit's mind back like a bucket of ice cold water to his face.

"MiaoMing, I dunno about this . . ." The catgirl turned to him, eyebrows quirking.

"What's wrong, Kit?"

"This whole fight. Fold's coming, and we all know he is. We're prepared to give it our best, but what if Fold's too much?" Kit scratched the back of his hand. MiaoMing sighed.

"Silly Golden Bear . . . it doesn't matter. We're the good guys. Remember that? We're trying to save the world here."

Kit looked around himself. "A psychopathic Commie, a mentally unstable artifical demigod, a schizoid psionic, and two cybernetically-enhanced fanatics. We're just a bunch of fanatics, Ming. If we're the good guys--if these are who the Watchers picked to save the world . . . I mean, would you want us to be responsible for your existence?"

MiaoMing grimaced. "I don't know," she said. "But . . . I do know that you've missed the fact that everyone here is an Expatriate, an outcast, someone set adrift from society . . . we're all looking in from the outside. Everyone else is too wrapped up in being normal to see these problems. I'd never have thought I'd be part of this, trying to save my very existence from being erased. So . .. Kit, maybe the world needs people like Rand, Mad, Antenor, you and me, so that we can deal with these abnormalities and they can still stay normal."

Kitsune paused to think about this. Then, slowly, he nodded. "You're on to something there, Ming. That makes a damn lot of sense." MiaoMing blushed faintly.

"Thanks, Kit," she said. Kit put his arm around her waist and pulled her closer to him.

"It's things like that that make me remember why I still love you."

MiaoMing purred, and rubbed against him.

"So, you think we can do this?"

"I don't see how we can't."

"All right. That sounds like a nice philosophy to adopt for the time being."

It's amazing what power a simple, small gesture, like an arm wrapped around the waist of the one you love, can hold for a person. Kit noted this with no small satisfaction as he just stood there, holding his lover for a few moments more.

"All right. Now, let's go find something to do. Someone--Icy, Vandal, Mad--is bound to need our help somewhere. Let's try and get this place ready, so we're not just waiting for Fold to arrive."

MiaoMing nodded, and they went to do what needed to be done.

Standing off to the side away from everyone Wolf idly picked at his teeth with a bare hand. Watching from a distance he noted how everyone seemed so tense. It probably meant that he should be tense as well, especially considering how well he was armed. His two LAWs lay on the ground empty. One gave faint trail of foul smelling smoke that slowly rose into the air mixing with the other generally bad smelling stuff in the air.
But those weren't probably going to help anyways now. Even if he still had one using a LAW against a person was akin to trying to hit a fly with a sledge hammer. So now he would have to rely on himself and his M9 with,
wolf rummaged through his pockets, three clips.

"Fuck."

With a shrug wolf went back to picking at his teeth and observing the crazy looking people. They really seemed to be bothered by something and with Rand, icy, kit and who knows who else that is really a cause for concern. But for some odd reason only one real thought occupied Wolf's mind.

I wonder if there is a place to eat around here.

Actor knew it was time to prepare.
He looked at the Expatriots.
They were ready, they knew that the time was comming, Actor could feel the future begining to work its way around him, soon it seemed to say.

"Soon indeed..." Actor muttered to himself.

The other expatriots looked macarbe in the pre-dawn, ghastly faces and bodies, twisted by the shadows of infinitys birth, devils, angels, gods. A tapestry of power and contradiction.

"Whats that Actor?" Wolf stared at him, Actor hadn't relised he had both wandered over to the soldier and was thinking out loud. He eyed Wolf suspiciously.

"Nothing." He looked at Wolf and was reminded of Rand, strange that two people so alike would be such enemies, both so fanatical to their causes, such is fate Actor thought with a grim sense of satisfaction.

He knew he could trust both of them, they were loyal to him because he appeared loyal to their beliefs, Rand called him Comrade, Wolf thought the money for killing Fold was keeping him around.

Actor looked at the soldier. Be thankful you don't have children, he thought, my child was mutilated because I was found to be more important than I should be.

"Actor, the plan is still a go. We will pay you your money for the destruction of Fold, but only afterwards." Actor could see something was playing on Wolfs mind.

"What is it Wolf?"

"Nothing, just forget it.. no wait, where did you really take the Girl, I don't buy your bullshit. You didn't take her to her family did you."

Actor is silent. "She's away from all this now, thats all that matters."

"Bullshit, I saw the bullet holes in the car, what the fuck happened out there?"

"They wanted her back, I couldn't let that happen, they are probably going to be looking for me sometime soon, but not today, and thats all that matters to me, today is the last day of this part of your life. Wolf after today nothing will be the same, Fold, even if he loses, he's going to hurt us a lot Wolf."

The soldier looked at the assasin. "I guess."

Actor turned to leave and remembered something. "You have any family Wolf?"

"Not anyone close, not anymore, why?"

"No reason." The former soldier walked away from his ally and looked at the remaining Expatriots. The night is always darkest before the dawn, he thought, and daylight is comming upon us.

He noticed Icy staring at him, such a strange thing, a talking monkey, yet now he didn't think anything of it, Actor felt he could trust the monkey, he didn't know why. I wonder, he thought, if the monkey trusts me. For now it was irrelevent, in battle trust was needed, these people knew that, they would trust him, most of them he would trust.

Eyeing Kitsune, Actor remembered watching the puddle that was Rand gradually return to life under Fionas care. Fiona, dear god, may you rest this day as we go out to fight darkness imortal.

Actor didn't know what else to do, he checked his ammunition, the Bullet was still there, he'd almost forgoted that it even existed, to kill a god, no ideas as to what would happen to Fold, maybe he would laugh and then kill Actor, very likely.

Actor sighed and scratched under his wrist guard and waited for his Hawk to descend, pulling out her cap he let her sleep.
Perchance to dream.

Rand was wandering around. He was still a bit shocked by what Kitsune had done. To try to leave a comrade-partner like that, for whatever reason, was inexcusable. If he would have been with Miaoming he'd... Rand immediately silenced the thought. That was no way of thinking. Comrade Miaoming was with comrade Kitsune and that was that.

Now they were going to fight Fold, and afterwards they were going...

Rand's thoughts stopped for a moment as his eye caught something laying on the ground. It was wrapped in cloth, and had fallen out of Icy's pocket in the confusion. With shaking hands, Rand quickly grabbed the object and shoved it in one of his combat boots, making sure the faded jeans covered it completely before blinking a couple of times.

What had he been thinking about again? Oh yeah, they were going to defeat Fold. And then he was going to kill the other tyrants he had to fight beside for now. And Miaoming...he'd... stand beside her and Kitsune. He was stopping any thoughts about being there for Miaoming in the hypothetical case Kitsune died from coming to his attention. Kitsune was a powerful fighter in the revolution. Rand would have to make sure he's survive, regardless of his personal feelings. Whatever those might be. Because there were none.

OOC: Note that if you saw Rand take the thing, he'll flat out deny ever doing anything like that. It was 'the other Rand' who took it.

The television is a masterpiece of technological and societorial intergration. Millions of people have televisions and millions of them are affected, not by what they see, but by how that makes them feel.
The moon landing, Hitlers Olympic games, The Fall of the Berlin Wall, The Gulf War, September 11th 2001. All these dates stand testiment to the power of television to make the people of the world stand up and pay attention.

Jerry Springer, Oprah, Survivor, Interacial Gang Bang 4, When Commies Attack 1-326 and other such fluff is the price that society has to pay for these rare moments of insight, because when everything changes Television is there, waiting patiently to tell us about it.

This is one of the most important television broadcasts in history, mere prelude to a day of irreconcilable maddness and destruction, a news report into the group known as the Expatriots, aired at 4am in the morning, minutes before the dawn this interview with a senior government official about the group, watched by millions around the world and remembered by everyone.

"We interupt the last four minutes of the very last episode of Cowboy Bebop to bring you this important interview about the group known as the expatriots."

The presenter is wearing no coat, his collar has been losened, sweat is covering him, like many people that night he had not slept from the fear that the world may end.

"I am joined this morning by General L Bios, US army special forces, General you've been investigating the Expatriots longer than anyone haven't you?"

The general, dressed in a field uniform, khaki green with his hat on the desk in front of him, leaned foward lsightly on his arms. "Yes, I've been in charge of the investigative body for the last eight days, since they were first seen robbing a gas station in the badlands."

"The entire group robbed a gas station? This is the same group that threatens civilisation as we know it?"

"The entire group was not present at the time, no, even so back then they weren't as deranged and dangerous as they are right now, we are looking at a small army of people, all prepared to destroy us and everything we hold dear."

"I understand this, can you go through what we do know about the group?"

"Some information I have to tell you up front is confidential and I will not reveal the details of it here or in any forum."

"Thats understandable, now tell us after the robbery what did the group do?"

"From what we are able to understand the two vehicles being driven at the time then raced down the freeway for several miles after the Gas station was destroyed in an explosion caused by the group. The owner of a strip club next door recalled later for our investigators that almost every stripper working for her club left immediately afterwards in a bus with a strange individual we later determined to be an Expatriot. Later reports found that a hitchhiker, a motorbike rider and suspect in a convieniance store robbery driving an APC joined the group. They made it into some kind of perverse game of tag, racing across the country like some stupid Road Trip movie."

"This was of course before Rand Altoor joined the group was it not."

"Yes, after than several officers established a road block but were sadly killed when the vehicle was detonated by several explosives, we managed to track the driverof the mini-van to a water treatment plant where we found an unfortunate individual in a coma, we assumed he had been left behind by some of these expatriots, he has not yet recovered and the driver vanished."

"This was how many hours before the first call to arms from the Expatriots 'leader'?"

"Leader is not the best word to use in these circumstances, a better term would be machina, as in dues ex, his name is classified but we believe that he wasn't the one to initiate these events, but he managed to co-ordinate the destruction and rampages. He took control of a radio bandwave and put out a call to others like him to work out a 'gameplan', it was after this that the military became involved to a degree, the lunatic in the APC I mentioned earlier was apparently in an altercation with several of the Expatriots, launching several SAM's at a vehicle containing at least four of them."

"The driver was an Expatriot?"

"To an extent yes, the Expatriots are not like any military order as we know it, they are often at ends with one another, fighting and leaving chaos in their wake, these people are savages who think they are gods, the groups put aside their differences quickly enough however and then joined up. Following the logic of these people has proven difficult at the best of times I am afraid. Several recorded radio programs showed us just what types of maddness we were dealing with as the group argued over the morality of Neko-Human love whilst in the background several guns and other weapons as yet classified were being fired randomly, the damage bill at that time was already in the millions when we recieved a report that a WW2 bomber plane had been stolen from an old farming shed nearby. It was like trying to put out a fire with a damp rag, we couldn't be everywhere at once. Roadblocks proved ineffective as the Plane attacked them and the APC, for god only knows what reason and the APC, attacked every goddamn thing it could find. Reports were comming in from all over the country by now of attacks similar to these, but most proved baseless and the rest were amature copy-cats. There was an unconfirmed UFO sighting near the expatriots last known location, but I think we are a bit smarter than that. That compounded with the forest fires that were begining to strike around the country at the time was putting an enourmous amount of pressure on the emergancy services."

"At this stage most of the problems were contained weren't they?"

"Yes, the group disapeared for a few hours, we assumed they were planning something, how right we were. This was the first encounter the law had with the Terrorist Rand Altoor in relation to the Expatriots, he attacked eight houses trying to force leaflets of some description upon the residents, it was after this lull in the attacks that a group of recreational motorcycle enthusiasts were attacked by the APC, several Expatriots and Rand Altoor."

"About Rand Altoor, why is he the center of most of the investigations? Has it anything to do with his communist leanings?"

"It has more to do with us knowing substancially more about him than any of the other expatriots, some of them we didn't even have names for, still don't. Several agencies were now tracking the Expatriots, we managed to corner several of them in both a suburban environment and in the badlands, however it all went to hell, two of them managed to nearly level a city block and Rand Altoor destroyed a police baracade using massive ammounts of explosives. It was then that events took a turn that we have still yet to explain. The entire Expatriot convoy was attacked by the individual we know as Fold, he targeted Rand Altoor first...all information after that is classified however." There was a pause as the general took a drink of water. "The rest is common knowledge now, the destruction documented on every television network, insurance companies are refusing to cover the damage caused by these people, claiming it to be acts of god. The irony is appalling."

"The broadcast yesterday afternoon about the 'Watchers' and that the entirity of reality is nothing more than a game to some bored adolesants was what tipped the scales for many people." The interviewer looked at the General. "Yet the government has made no statement refuting those claims, would you care to elaborate?"

"Certainly, the validity of their claim is so preposterous that the very idea of refuting them didn't occur to us."

"What of the events of earlier this evening, when Rand Altoor attacked a roadblock and film crew with this person."

A brief, blurred screengrab of Actors face as he put a bullet into a begging woman flashed in black and white on the screen.

"Those that died, did so defending freedom and trying to bring a madman to justice."

A new picture of Actor appears on the screen, younger with his head and beard shaved off. "What about his assistant?"

"No doubt some poor fool who was convinced by Rands lies..." The general sees the picture of Actor. "What is this?"

"This is a military Identification of a former Australian SAS officer named Actor. This is the same man as was seen earlier tonight with Rand. Do you deny knowing this?" The general struggles to answer before the interviewer kicks in. "These are survallance videos of an Australian SAS contingent within 1 mile of the Whitehouse!! Do you deny that the US government is now under a covert attack from Australia and its Ally Rand Altoor."

"Absolutly. The Expatriots have no political or national alliances."

"I and the american people don't believe you. The Expatriots have de-stabalised our entire society. Their destruction has totaled in the billions of dollars and thousands of lives. Do you deny that the American government is now under attack from not only the Expatriots but a secretive Cabal of nations plotting to overthrough the government."

"I do deny it, empathetically."

"You can't spell empathetic without pathetic you know. Who is Fold, isn't it true he is really working for the United States government to defeat the initial invasion force that is the Expatriots."

The general stood up and walked out of the studio.

"The people demand the truth!!!" The image faded to static.

OOC: Okay that was shit, I got Writers block, so just made the second half up as I went along, I'll probably edit it later, its not going to affect the plot all that much.
