Post subject: Eberron: When worlds collide

It's a rainy day in Sharn. The usual. You're resting from your most recent adventure in a small pub when a courier runs inside, shaking of the rain, as he approaches you.

"A message for you, good sirs, from the Deathsgate adventuring guild."

Opening the package he hands you, you see that you have an offer of work. It looks like Morgrave University is launching an expedition into Xen'drik, and they'll need some guards...

This campaign is an Eberron campaign for 4th-level DnD characters. You're all members of the Deathsgate adventuring guild, and you all know each other from previous adventures (and possibly before that, if you want to link your backstories). You have 5,388 gp to spend (after guild dues). I would highly recommend having Identification papers (2 gp for basic papers, 5 gp for papers with picture of you, +1 gp for papers that can survive immersion in water or fire). Ability scores are 32-point buy.

I'll point out that the Deathsgate adventuring guild tends to attract the more mercenary and anti-heroic adventurers, which I think would suit you folks fine. Yes, Evil characters are allowed, and while noone would attack you because of that, doing something like murdering villiagers would.

Come on, is this game really that uninteresting. I'll throw out a few suitable characters, to try to get your creative juices going.

Shade, LE Warforged Monk 4: Shade was created by House Cannith to be a scout for Cyre during the Last War. After the Mourning, he joined up with the Warforged prophet, the Lord of Blades, and was eventually sent to spy on the 'breathers', by joining the Deathsgate adventurer's guild. He is lean, and his composite plating is unusually blackened. He is a capable combatant, and is capable of unleashing a whirlwind of attacks while avoiding attacks himself. Notable equipment: Battlefist, +1 Darkweave Composite Plating; Feats: Dodge, Cumbrous Dodge; Roleplaying advice: What if HK-47 was a ninja?

Aryx d'Lyrandar: CN Half-elf Rogue 4: Aryx was born in the Lhazaar Principalities to a whore, and grew up in the grimy docks there. He was soon enough pressganged into service on a pirate ship, and after manifesting a Dragonmark, eventually managed to work his way up to captain through his skill in combat and leadership ability. After the Last War, he continued to ply his trade until a mutiny robbed him of his ship. He then decided to try his luck with adventuring, and came to Sharn. Notable Equipment: +1 Rapier, +1 Mithral Chain Shirt; Feat: Least Dragonmark (Storm); Roleplaying Advice: Jack Sparrow, with magic.

Torys Sathryn: N Wildhunt Shifter Druid 4: Torys was born and raised in the Eldeen Reaches. As a child, she was noticed by a local druid to be unusually perceptive, and was inducted into the local druid order, and fought to protect her homeland. The Gatekeeper druids noticed her ability, and inducted her into their sect. After the Last War, she was sent to Sharn to assist the other druids stationed there. She decided to make some money as an adventurer on the side, justifying it to her superiors as "investigating the planar anomalies in the Mournland and Xen'drik". Notable Equipment: +1 Scimitar, +1 Dragonscale Breastplate, wolf animal companion, magebred carver; Feats: Track, Shifter Ferocity, Uses the Aspect of Nature wild shape variant.

What does disliking me have to do with anything?

People generally don't like to play games with people they dislike.

Sadly, it is frozen in carbonite.

And yeah, if I can't get along with a DM then I don't play with them. That would be why I don't go to the local on-campus gamer club- the people there are often so inflexible and have such unobservant views on how to play a character (LOL I WIN 'CAUSE I DON'T HELP THE PARTY AND HAVE THE MOST SHINIES RITE GUYS?!?!) that I flat out cannot deal with them. Watching them play games together is frightening, and almost like a multiple player prisoner's dillema.

I'm glad I've found stable groups to play in.

Actor left the group behind in the campus library, they just didn't understand, he felt.
You don't RP to follow rules, to build giant spreadsheets in your head and adjust the totals as time permitted. You RP to have fun, to enjoy yourself, to create, with others, a world in which you'd either want to live or want to help fix itself.
Actor didn't want to continue like this, just another dream-builder in a world full of sleepers, but he couldn't believe that there was no place that he could go in which they'd relax the rules, let go of the calculators and spreadsheets and just create a story and enjoy it.

"Let go of your chains, and be free." He muttered to himself as the cold biting winds of another miserable winters afternoon rose up around him and began to bite his exposed flesh, left to the elements since that morning when the heat was unbearable.

He mentally updated one of his big lists.
Reason's numbers 12-14 to hating this city: wrote:
12: The Cold in winter.
13: The Lack of a decent gaming groups.
14: The random Heat waves in winter.

He reached his car, an old rusted through toyota, getting into it he could feel the tension of the last week behind his shoulders.
I need to calm down, I really do. He thought to himself. Its not that big of a deal, just relax and focus on whats important.

Whats important to me Numbers 18-21 wrote:
18: My degree is almost done
19: My job is going well.
20: The people on the internet all live in fear of me
21:I really need a girlfriend.

Putting the car into gear Actor began to drive home the shortest way possible. All I want is an adventure. He thought as the music of his nearly dead radio crackeled to life.

A Flock of Seagulls began to struggle through the speakers. I run so far away.
Actor smirked at the song, listening to it as the distance between one destination and another began to change.

Far away the sun began to set.
