Geez, it's not like mad will ALWAYS use the power to rip people's heads off, and i'm not such a prick to just tear a character's head off for no reason. (mostly)

Chances are, he'd more likely use the power to subdue or cop a feel.

And yes, worrying about the trio before they arrive...there will be enough RPing to be had before then.

Mad and Rand will be the Begginning of the Second Act.

Name: Kenko
Alias: Kenko the Flame
Age: Nineteen
Sex: Female
Location: Europe. More specifically, merry old England.
Appearance:

A cacuasian, Kenko is rather tanned, something that has come from living in various places all over the world throughout her short life. Her oddly natural purple hair hangs just below her chin at the front, layering out until it touches the nape of her neck at the rear. Her eyes are somewhat a mixture of jade and azure, fluctuating with her mood. At 5'11", her frame is quite lithe, as she only weighs around the 115-120lb mark.

Personality:

Growing up the way she did, Kenko has a rather harsh personality, with a lot of rough edges to it. Firstly, she's not afraid to make her own opinions known, rather loudly, and is often ready to back any statements she makes up, with the power of her fists. A natural brawler, she has a quick mouth that often gets her into trouble, and rarely gets her out. Her interaction with people is fairly smooth, as long as they're not arrogant and/or concieted, and thus in need of a beating. More the type to solve any problem with her fists rather than her brain, Kenko isn't much for thinking beyond the ocassional battle strategy, unless it contains the accquisition of heavy liquor.

Renown: Kenko is fairly well known in the underground fighting ring. Those that attend such events will know her on sight. Otherwise, she's just another woman. Carrying a giant sword.

Talent:

Kenko has the same 'style' of talent that Yumiko has; The ability to "alter" matter into another form, although the form it takes it rather different. The ability is split up into three different stages; Three places where the ability develops or changes in such a way that it is no longer exactly the same as it was before. (Besides the ability to alter matter; The different stages also grant strength and speed above a normal human)

First Stage:
Image
Basic manipulation of heat, and the ability to enforce that heat upon a singular in-animate object. Mainly, she enforces it upon her sword, but any object would do. The larger it is, the thinner the power is stretched out; The smaller, the more concentrated.

Second Stage:
Second Stage image.
Basically a suped up version of the first. Able to reach higher temperatures than before on an inaminate object, also able to weakly enforce this onto a living object easily. (Example of usage: In a battle against someone, they would be sweating from extreme heat, becoming exhausted faster).

Third/Final Stage: (This stage probably won't be reached at all, as it is a near un-obtainable level)

Completetly incased in red armour, forged by the flame of her power, Kenko becomes somewhat indestructable. Completely immune to normal attacks, her body radiates so much heat that most objects melt before they even reach the armour, and those that do bounce off the substance which makes diamond look brittle. Completely immersed in her power, Kenko can control any type of fire, from a tiny flickering flame dancing on the end of her finger, to huge fireballs raining down from the skies above. There is no longer a need for her sword, as she can easily create weapons forged of flame with her own will. Of course, such immunity with fire makes her incredibly vulnerable to all types of cold.

Fighting Style/Weaponary/Etc:

Brawler Style: Kenko doesn't have any style of fighting, such as a martial-arts discipline, or even something such as Western-style boxing. She's a brawler, meaning she fights by instinct, using her hands and feet when she deems it necessary, and she's been in enough fights throughout her life to have a decent hold on what works in what situations.

Blade of Heavenly Fire:

Her only weapon in her non-alter mode, besides her fists, it's rather impractical, as outside of her changed form, she lacks the strength to weild the weapon effectively. She could probably get one or two decent swings out of it, if she had enough adrenaline pumping through her veins, but otherwise she's restricted to un-armed fighting. The characters on her blade (origin unknown), are Ken no Ten Hi... Or, a more literal translation, 'Sword of Heavenly/Divine Fire/Flame'. These inscribed words become lined with fire when Kenko's power thrums through the blade.

Gauntlets:

Kenko's gauntlets are directly linked to her power... A crutch, something that helps her focus. They're the only thing (besides her blade, of course) which she has in a non-alter state, but are Alter related... In fact, the gauntlets are a direct representation of where she is in her power development. They each have embedded three gems, once lighting up for every stage of power that she reaches.

Flaws/Disadvantages:

In regards to her Talent, her ability to use it is not infinite, and it is quite taxing to do so. In her first stage, she can probably use the Shoten no Hiken two or three times before becoming close to, or being rendered unconcious; Pushing past this limit would very likely kill or cripple her to some extent. Her lithe body can't take the strain from the higher levels; And any use of them will cause her body to detoriate little by little; An irreversable thing. She must have the gauntlets on, or she can't focus her mind to Alter; Without them, she has as much Talent as the next person... who has a Talent... But can't use it. Yeah.

Outside of her Altered state, she is limited physically to the strength and speed of a woman her age, height, and weight. Adding to the fact that she carries the Ken no Ten Hi on her back, she cannot run around without exhausting herself quickly (Unless she dropped it... And still then, she will tire long before an athlete).

She is rather pigheaded and tends to rush into situations without calculating everything that is going on; Rather confident that if she hits something hard enough and in the right place, it'll fall down. This is both a asset and a failing; As she oftend finds herself in situations that are way over her head; Not that she'd every admit it.

(History... Well, bah. I'll do it later. Or not at all, and just make it up as I go along.)

Don't worry.

Actor, when I started using him in RT1, was pretty weak compared to the rest of the Expatriots.
But I made him get stronger, fleshed out his background and now he is pretty impressive.

Actor.

Name – Jason Febre

Age – 23

Appearance – 5’7”, small frame, short dark brown hair that doesn’t do anything. Has one light blue eye and one dark green eye.

Renown – Very well known to everyone that he lived with back home. Though only a few of the doctors know about some of his powers. No recognition from anyone else.

Origin – Jason grew up with his family on the outskirts of a large city in western Canada, near the US border. Though he and his family survived the initial cataclysm, when the forest appeared and the attacks began, his family was killed. As order reestablished itself, people began devoting their efforts to stopping the forest. Due to his youth, Jason was kept off the front lines but his sense of vengeance spurred him to contribute whatever he could to help. He ended up staying with the medics and helping with the triage teams as injured fighters were brought back. It was around then when his first eye manifested. His newfound gift was helpful in determining internal injuries and as a result helped him save many lives. As the years passed, he found he had a knack for medicine and studied under the doctors at the medical centre whenever he had free time. Once the quarantines were established, the military arrived and evacuated everyone east. For a few years Jason has stayed on as an aide to the doctors that came with him and received the formal education he was lacking. Recently, a group of them moved south to help combat the forest in the southeastern US and they brought Jason along with them. So far, Jason’s been able to keep his para status hidden.

Personality – Jason is an intelligent guy that understands the consequences to his actions. He has a strong sense of decency and justice but understands that not everyone seems to feel this way. If forced to choose between damaging options, he will always choose the one that will save more in the long term. As a realist he tends to be cautious, trying to minimize potential damage where possible. Due to his eyes, he has become a bit cynical and possibly a bit paranoid. However when the Para Forest is concerned, his attitude can be summed up as “Burn the damn thing to the ground.”

Powers – Jason’s powers are based in his three eyes. All of his powers are limited to line of sight. When not focusing, Jason’s eyes work like anyone else’s, letting him see what normal people would.

Body Eye – Blue
This was the first eye to manifest and is his left eye. It allows him to see an object’s true form and what’s inside. During his time against the Para Forest, he could focus his eye to see inside a person’s body to locate internal bleeding or broken bones. It can be used to see through basic disguises such as masks and wigs and can also be used to find concealed objects.

Mind Eye – Green
The second eye to appear and is his right eye. This allows him to see a sentient being’s thoughts and intentions. He mostly uses it to discern whether someone is telling the truth or is hiding something. He can also tell if someone is being sincere or wishes to do harm. He can not read minds or memories, merely the dominant feeling of the moment.

Soul Eye – Red
The latest eye to develop and when unused is hidden. When Jason chooses to use this, it looks like a vertical red eye opens in the middle of his forehead. With this eye, Jason can see a general look of a person’s soul. Though it seems to have no real useful purpose, Jason can sometimes use it to see if a person appears trustworthy. However, if used to look at someone without a soul such as a corpse, Jason will only see empty space.

Jason can only use one eye power at a time and while in use, the other two can not be used in any way. So if he’s using the red eye, he can’t see physical objects, only the spiritual representation.

Feedback is very welcome considering how quickly this character was created.

interestning power, wolfie!

does that mean that when using the soul eye, he can only see soul-based or spiritual forms, and all else is as if it is invisible? it raises some interesting questions and would make for good balance of the power...

I also like his history,.

name -
Ezekiel Thomson, "Zeke"

age -
23

appearance -
Zeke stands roughly 6 foot tall, with black hair, green eyes, and a casually tanned complexion. His facial features are a genuine mish-mash; a broad forehead, a sloped nose, a square chin, and a generally long face. It may sound conflicting, but somehow the features seem... Almost natural on him. He's relatively thin, and tends to wear loose, comfortable clothing.

renown -
Was observed for several years as a child under government care. Presumed dead, except by a few select agencies with Paras that have powerful detection capabilities.

origin -
Zeke grew up, as most children did, in an orphanage. Noted as being as being an exemplary child; always obedient, always prim and proper. This, of course, led to a few tests which revealed he had latent psychic powers, of which had clearly manifested subconsciously. He was moved to another orphanage at age 12, where he ended up walking out of 4 years later. Assumed MIA until age 22, wherein he was spotted talking with a street vendor. He was also spotted stealing a sandwich from the street vendor, and walking off. The vendor only remembered the stolen sandwich, of course. The man he described looked like most every other man of the region; this led to a tracking unit set out on his trail, for the purpose of watching him.

Personality -
Zeke is horribly laid back. Optimistic to the extreme, he professes that everything *will* turn out okay. Of course, this could just be to blend into the mass.

Powers -

Zeke has the currently ability to meld with any culture, or environment. This, of course, isn't flawless. Firstly, aggression of any sort to a person cancels out this ability for those within a 30 foot or so radius around him. Secondly, those with insight of some sort(Awareness), or those of great power tend to spot him quite easily; for those with awareness, it becomes a matter of something being too normal to be normal, and with those with power, well... Then it's just a matter of knowing how to play the game better.

[BEGIN PLAYBACK RECORD 649-A37Q]

Subject's powers show direct correlation to mental state. Assumed powers to be generally weak in nature; nothing more than what appears to be a mild empathic broadcast ability. Subject to be re-aquired if neccisary.

[END PLAYBACK RECORD 649-A37Q]

Name - Christopher Ebricht
Age - 27
Astrological Sign - Aries
Sex - Male
Eye Color - Brown
Hair Color - Black
Height - 5' 10"/11"
Weight - Around 160-170 lbs

Appearance
With the looks of his mother and the physical build of his father, Chris passes as a tall, skinny guy with an Asian slant to his facial features. His black hair, kept short, only enforces his Asian ancestry. He generally wears whatever is at the top of the clothe basket (Just about always a solid color shirt with some design. Preferential to white, gray, black, and green) on it and a pair of jeans.

Renown - Very much unknown.

Origin
Growing up, Chris was mostly stuck at home. Home being a few miles outside a small town of about 5K in the western half of Oregon, USA. His childhood was mostly spent on computer games, occasionally playing with a few of the local kids that had move into the area, and public school. School was just another thing to do and he passed through it as an average kid. Through school, he made few friends and picked up many interests/hobbies. The bigger ones being reading, Sci-Fi and Fantasy for the most part, CCGs (Collectable Card Games), computer/console games and Anime. Life was going well until the madness of 2005 where Chris was found unconcious due to unknown circumstances and later diagnosed to be in a coma. It wasn't until late 2006 when he eventually came out of the coma. Recovery went by fast for him and he tried to continue life as best as normal was to him.

Personality
Not exactly a social person, he still gets on well with people but prefers to keep to himself. Perhaps it was reading to much Fiction, but his world view is mostly seen in black & white. He acknowledges that there is a gray area. Tries to keep a realistic view of the world but his imagination does get in the way at times.

Powers
Backstory: {Still writing up.}

Spirit walking (Call it astral projection if you want. I just like calling it spirit walking.) Total and complete separation of the body and essence/spirit/soul/whatever. The good news is that it's way easier to get around now and do recon or search for something (Not easily. Read on). Too bad there's a whole lot of bad news. In order to get 'out', a mental trance has to be achieved to allow detachment of body and spirit which may take under a minute to a couple minutes to achieve. For the next stage, the body is completely defenseless and acts like it's in a coma. Once getting 'out', it becomes a whole 'nother world out there. Normal vision no longer applies and everything is seen as an energy form with a blurred view of what it is. Focusing on an object helps but time and experience serve best here. Returning back to the body is the worst part as hunger, a need for water and a state of exhaustion that varies depending on how long the duration is.

Sight of the Spirit - Essentially allows access to see onto the spirit plain at the cost of normal vision. Kinda like walking around blind unless you know what makes up the area. Taxes the body about 1/5th of what spirit walking would.

Work in progress in some areas. Suggestions?

Trying because Ez told me to. Blame him for this nonsense. Blame him for everything.

Name: Johanna "Johnny" Ariette Ruth.

Age: 19

Appearance: Standing at all of 5'5", Johnny has an incredibly unsound look to her. Her arms are bony, and her knees are wobbly. Her hips jut out too far, and her stomach slopes out oddly at her pelvis. She perpetually looks like she's slouching.

Big Mississippi mud eyes with great dark circles, and lips that are too thin to float rouge properly. Her hair is a very tangled mess of dirty blonde that stick to her sharp shoulders, and the bangs hang into her eyes.

Her clothing is almost always wrinkled (as they are normally just plucked off the floor in the morning) and are generally too large on her. Color doesn't matter to her. It doesn't doo much for her anyways.

Renown: She is just another face in the crowd.

Origin: In a very small but widely spaced community in between miles of desert and gallons of blue river is where it all began. Willow Valley. Johnny was born into an average family, the Ruths. She had an older brother, and kind parents. She and her brother survived the cataclysm and the riots it brought, along with a handful of the other inhabitants of the town. Her parents did not.

The insanity died down relatively fast in Willow Valley, although people were constantly walking on eggshells, waiting for whatever was coming next. Johnny and her brother survived through the aid of the grandmotherly Rose Marie. They lived in fear of more fighting and deaths, but they lived atleast.

When Johnny was 10, her brother fell from an old dying oak trees branches (he had been climbing down from repairing holes in the roof) and died. It was devastating for Johnny, and she became completely withdrawn from other people. Rose Marie and many other folks did what they could to cheer Johnny up, and eventually a little relief from her grief was found in a set of partially worn down crayons.

She was constantly drawing, everything and anything on whatever she got her hands on. In her room were hundreds on hundreds of drawings in piles and on shelves and on the floor.

One of her favorite subjects was drawing her brother. It never really depressed her until one day when things were at their worst. While Johnny furiously drew her brother on a piece of construction paper she cried for him. She couldn't stop crying, she kept crying for her brother. In the process she accidentally cut her hand and bleed all over the paper and carpet.

Johnny kept crying for her brother, wishing he was still there to help her, as she went to bandage her hand. When she returned a little boy was cleaning the mess for her. Johnny stared at him in shock for a few moments or so, and when the boy finally looked at her, realization of what she had done dawned on her.

If you were to ask her how she knew, she wouldn't be able to explain it very well.

"It was sort of like remembering something I ought to have known all along."

Personality: Being quiet, and terribly shy as a child has left some major gaps in Johnny's social skills. She is very careful around people, doesn't talk very much, and what she does say is always mumbled. (Opening up only to her creations, primarily Wayne, hasn't helped her much either.)

Johnny is quite the little butterfingers as well. She's constantly tripping and skinning her knees, or cutting herself, or walking into doors.

Powers: Johnny has the ability to, as para-scientists call it, "Reality Bend". She has the ability to take a piece of her art, and with sheer force of will (and glorious genetic superiority), force it onto the world, making a simple two dimensional image, into three dimensional reality. The following conditions apply to her ability:

- The picture can be drawn with any medium, on any surface, provided that she adds some of her blood to it. Without her own "essence", reality will lash back, rendering her unconcious for several hours.

- Reality has an approximately 50% chance of not accepting the image completely, and thus is comes out twisted or warped.

- She cannot create complex or electrical devices.

- The "walking image" will only last as long as the paper is intact. If the original drawing is torn up, then it shall cease to be.

- If an image is drawn of a living thing that once is existed, the new version will retain the memories/experiences of the old. Any redrawn image (if the original is ripped) will "reset". Meaning, that it's mind will be a blank slate.

- Her creations cannot speak, or make noises.

Notes:

- The boy she created is physically her brother when he was eight years old. His name is Wayne and he is constantly with her.

- She is still in Willlow Valley, Arizona. Rose Marie died when Johnny was 16.

- Concept drawings of Johnny can be found at the links below (is you haven't seen them before). Ignore the fact that doesn't have blonde hair in the first one. I was being an arty wench.

Cool! I'm not the only astral projector! I'm just wondering what dimensions of astral projection your character can visit (one person rumoured there to be eight - while he had mastered enough to visit five of them). I know there are so many interpretations to research and try! My main source of astral travel is going to be a mix based on what I have read, and what a good friend of mine believes (third, fourth, and fifith dimensions).

Also, I was curious if you're going to maintain some sort of connection between the body and the Spirit. If someone disturbs your comatose body, will you automatically return? Will your body essentailly be empty, so that someone would steal your body with their own Spirit? You're in no risk of losing your body to my character, mind you. Mine does keep connection with her own body.

Name: Ekaterina Nebosakaya
Nickname: Katya, Koshka
Alias: Kathy Sakaya
Age: 27 years old
Renown: Low: she may or may not be known by other Moskovites, she has some small renown in Wurzburg, Germany and Monterey, CA, where she has stopped in her travels since leaving Russia 16 years ago.
Appearance: Katya is 5'7" (170cm), though she usually seems shorter (leaning or sitting slouched). The only items she consistently wears are a silver pentacle and a dog-tag on a chain around her neck, a silver malachite and onyx ring on her right middle finger, a platinum and emerald ring on her left ring finger, and a black backpack. She takes a lot of pride in her physical appearance and works out regularly. Her clothes tend toward blacks and dark greens, with the random neo-goth outfit. (She owns a pair of black ‘cat ears’, a fact which she would categorically deny if confronted with it.) Her blond hair falls to the middle of her back, except the hair at her temples, which is braided with black, green and silver threads, these braids hang down to her chest, and she has a bad habit of playing with them when she’s nervous. Her eyes shift between blue and green, which she rarely notices until someone else mentions it.
Race: Human
Blood Type: AB-
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 124lbs
Birthday: September 16
Hometown: Moskva, Russia
Occupation: She freelances as a translator (including government work, she has a US SECRET clearance, and could get a higher one if a background investigatuion was done). She also writes an occasional article for the Russian newspaper in Monterey, but they take most of their articles from the Russian papers in San Fransico. She has published a paper on Shamanic Magic and Folklore in Russia which is a mix of historical work and after the resurgance in 2005. Her parents are moderately wealthy, and if she really needs to she could probably borrow money from them. She also occasionally does volunteer work for the American Rare Donor Program.
Origin/Background: Born in Moskva, her father was an American Embassy employee, her mother was a Russian nurse, her grandmother was a Shamaness in a small town approximately 200km from Moskva. Her parents moved to Germany when she was 10, lived in Wurzburg, where her mother worked at the American army hospital. Two years later she moved with her parents to Monterey, California. Her father got a job teaching Russian at the Defense Language Institute. When she was 18, she flew back to Russia to live with her grandmother for a summer and ended up staying for a three years after getting a scholarship at the University of Moskva. During this time her grandmother taught her some minor magic, but she wasn’t strong enough (or interested enough) in the gift to learn more. In the summer before her 21st birthday, her grandmother died. She had to stay for almost two months while the estate was closed. Finally flying home days after her 21st birthday with the few things her grandmother had left to her or her mother, including a shoebox of letters and a Russian target pistol which had belonged to her grandfather before his death in 1986. In the six years since moving back to the states, she’s moved around frequently, but goes home every 6 months or so to spend some time with her parents. Recently she’s taken an interest in Paras and the Para-Forest, and is devoting more of her time to understanding what little of the gift she has than she ever did while she was studying with her grandmother.
Personality: Because of her upbringing and constantly moving around, Kayta sometimes has problems fitting in and is often nervous when meeting new people. She is very comfortable with her few friends, and madly in love with her girlfriend, Jessica (whom her parents think is just a roommate sharing the costs of an appartment), who is slowly learning a little Russian. Katya is intelligent, although her education has far more breadth than depth. She tends to be easy going, but can get wound up about stupid things. She has a tendency to “never sweat the big stuff”. . .
Powers:
Projective Empathy (She can influence the emotions of others, but only to make them more similar to her own – this power is not entirely voluntary. For instance, if she’s angry, people around her tend to get more irritable, if she’s happy, people around her tend to be happier.)
Eye of the Storm (She is able to remain calm through most stressful situations, or while the world is going crazy around her. This only allows her to ignore external events, she can still get carried away with her own emotions.)
(the combination of these two powers has led, on at least on occasion, to a brawl breaking out around her as a result of her own anger, and as she calmed down, left her puzzled by the violence around her.)
Weak Magic (She can invoke minor effects on a willing recipient, such as healing a scratch, lighting a cigarette, or helping someone sleep.)

does that mean that when using the soul eye, he can only see soul-based or spiritual forms, and all else is as if it is invisible?

Yes. When using the red or green eyes, Jason will only see a large white space rather than earth, sky, or any other physical objects. The only detail he'll see are the visible representations of people's thoughts or souls which will occupy the approximate location of the physical body. I suppose in the case of any spirit projectors, he'll see them, but he'll be confused when he can't see a body with his blue eye.

Neat. That adds to how my power will be expanding later on. So obvious too... Heh. Can't think of everything (Haven't really read up on the subject.). Right now, I'm keeping my char in just the one dimension he knows (Time to start naming the different possible dimensional plains?? Maybe not.. it's all about the mindset, I guess.) as he's a self-taught/read from books who just started actually using his AP for a few years, IE: When I get my backstory for the powers fleshed out. Got it all done in my head and need to get it on paper.

As for the second part, going with the connection between spirit and body. Only seems to make more sense then without any connection. With the connection idea, I'm adding a mental block that'll limit the distances he could go. It's more of a 'I could go that far, but it's really uncomfortable to do it'. (Backstory... need to get that done --; )
Mental defense of an empty body... hmm... Thinking on the idea that it's your conscious 'self' going out and exploring or whatever, that leaves your unconscious 'self' still in the body. How good it is at defending your shell from getting taken over is based on how powerful your spiritual self is, IMO. Guess I'm saying that right now, it's just a natural mental defense since my char doesn't know better. As for someone disturbing my comatose body, mentally tagging it as a doorbell. Could go with sound triggers later (Words/phrases that immediately bring me back in).

Well, this is going to very much be a learning experience for me... sooo much to know...

I almost wish all you people would post your introductions into the storyline. I'm not used to Kyhm Forum RPs, but I'm so excited about this one! And waiting for more posts is almost agony. ;_; Anyways, don't be afraid? You have an adoring little girl to please ^__^ *inno*

(btw, Indeh, it's been decided that I'm waiting for you to post so I know where you and Kenko are. Uh... >.>)
