Hello and welcome to the Kyhm Forums Monthly number one, August 2006.
Our opening theme, as suggested by Madaric, is to be ZOMBIES.

You have until 11:00 pm on the 19th of August to submit your entry. That's 12 days from now. Plenty of time. Late entries not accepted, because it wouldn't even be fair to you.

Post all submissions in this thread.
Your submission should well be in one of the following catagories:
<s>Anime</s>Original art (one image)
Rhyming poem (four verses or fewer)
Photoshop collage (Using at least three different images)
Fiction/ Tall Tale (200 words or less)

If you have grandiose plans for a different medium, I want to hear about it.

Again, this month's theme is Zombies. If you've already made such a thing as containing zombies, go ahead and use that if you think it's any good.
Have at ye.

Actually, it has to be anime Macaroni art.

That would make sense, wouldn't it? Go right ahead.
I wrote that because...uh...well, all the monthlies I ever knew of were anime monthlies. Thassall.

Can't say mine's really anime anyway. Have at ye. Just make something cool.

Well, I suppose here goes nothing. I make no claims to being an artist, just a guy who likes to doodle.

The Comedy of Brian.
Or how I stopped worrying and learnt to name my children rationally.
In one parts.

I suppose it was inevitable, that the Zombies would come for me. When the first researchers into Zombism found that the first thing the virus attacked was the left inferior parietal cortex in the cerebellum, I knew my days were numbered when I found out my name was Brian.
The rest of the world was pretty safe after that, the Zombies attacked a lot of people, but they left so many of them alone that for the most part we all ignored them and just learnt to be more careful with our children.
We changed our language as well, people never use the B-word anymore, even saying it out loud or writing it down can send the Zombies into a fit.
After that the only person left that was at risk on Earth was me.
My parents should have known that it would happen, the town that I grew up in had no Zombies in it when I was born, but they move around a lot, slowly shuffling in the speciality lane on the freeways, limbs and bones falling behind them.
They arrived two days ago, those poor dyslectic bastards.
Screaming at the top of what lungs they had left "BRRRRIANS!"
And now I'm running scared.

Actor.

Hooray.
You've all made my day.
Seeing as I'll be a zombie myself by Saturday night, not to mention entirely very far away from a computer, I'll just leave a few reminders for you:
Please have all submissions in on the 19th. I'm not one to throw anything out if you're a day late, but OMG it could skew the voting results OMG.
Starting on the 20th, private message your ballot to me. Remember, two catagories, and looks like two votes total is most feasible, one per catagory. One vote most creative, one vote most technically skilled.
Voting closes on the....29th. New theme announced on the first of the month.

Please pester your fellow peers about voting. The more involvement, the more fun, I'm sure.

Well, I was planning on coloring it, but time is short and also I'm lazy. Done entirely with a mouse, with no reference. Only later would I realize the similarity to Gollum.

Hey check it out, progress gif!

I have no intention of sucking up, but as much as I adored and pitied the name deleted for the preservation of objectivity, I place my vote for the name also deleted for the preservation of objectivity.

Voting:
The two catagories in which to vote are Technical Execution and Creativity/Imagination. you may voted for two candidates in each catagory, for a total of four possible votes. As stated, there will be one winner for either catagory, and the overall winner wil be decided by a coin toss between the two. Please pm all ballots (one per person) to me, Spools.

better take a look here.

You're funny, Tamayo.
Please pm me. I know it's slightly more trouble, but it's altogether a more objective system.

My fucking objective system failed me. Hooray.
There's 22 voters, fore 11 voters. The votes went as follows:
Creative

Actor_au 4
Madaric 3
TheMadThinker 2
Spools 2

Technical

Spools 9
Madaric 1
Tossrock 1

Eriatarka was kind enough to call the toss, heads for the creative catagory.
When my brother finally caught the damn coin properly and put it to his wrist, it came to light that I have indeed won.
Now, this may seem fishy to you. Maybe the math doesn't look right. I wouldn't know, I'm not inclined to do any math in the night. It may look as if a couple of people voted for the same person in each catagory. This would be the case. I figured that since I let one person vote for themself I would let others vote for the same person in both catagories. I have screenshots of pms to demonstrate this if you desire to see them.
Still fishy? Look, if I remove the double candidate ballots and the ballot by the bastard who just couldn't be bothered to PM and instead voted via AIM it comes out:

Creative
Actor_au 4
Madaric 2
TheMadThinker 2
Spools 0

Technical
Spools 6
Madaric 1
Tossrock 1

So I win anyway.
Re-tossing defeats the purpose of a toss.

In conclusion, stay tuned for the next theme, and thank you all ever so for participating and cooperating.

Next month: Space Elves!

I'm not arguing that it is fishy, just that your explanation doesn't make sense. In the first tally, votes total up to 11 each for creativity and technical. Then in the second tally it's down to eight votes on each side. What were these double candidate ballots?

I honestly thought I would get through on Technical more than creative.
As my entry was exactly 200 words long and perfectly fit.

Hmmn. By double candidate ( an average ballot should be), I mean homogenous, featuring the same person in each catagory. I removed the two that were so, because they were for me. I also removed a not entirely toward aim-cast ballot, which was, apparently, for me and Mad.
That's three ballots down, for six votes, leaving the 11 votes each side at 8.

Even though I am joyous at this late hour, I only wish show that in no way I actually tried to win.

6 times 17 equals 133 plus tax.

But... I made a cool gif! And I shaded it! This is a travesty of justice. I now understand the reasoning of the monarchist pig-dogs; when the populace is <i>clearly uneducated swine</i>, democracy fails to elect the best candidate.

Come, anonymous person who voted for me. Let us retreat to the Fortress of Regrets, and muse upon the death of God.
