Hmm, so they weren't moving as quickly as I figured they would.

Also, they seem to be unaware of the little scenario that just played out between Jon/Sarine - there goes the "scanning" theory someone had.

In the loft, Team Protagonist, the twins Snippy and Snarky. Speechlessness is a bad sign.

This thread sucks almost as much as one of my drunken 'I got nothin' threads.
And, shit indeed.

What's hilarious is that Jon alone fully appreciates just how fucked they are right now. Sarine's still busy trying to shift a paradigm without a clutch.

One thing I've never understood...

Why is there a '...' dialogue box to a character who obviously isn't speaking?

I mean, wouldn't the expression and lack of a dialogue box be enough?

"Sara, escort the..."

So, the'll be seperated, at least for a brief time. I've been wondering how she'd be kept alive. :P

It's a convention.

I think Sarine realizes just how fucked they are, but is having problems believing it. Does anyone else think her experssion kinda looks like someone just dumped a handful of ice into her panties?

Hmm . . . is Sarine more pop-eyed by the monk's moves, his spear, or Sara's resemblance to Jon? Also, there is a possibility that Sara just speared Ferrell and the Cardinal.

. . . and, wow, has Jon ever flunked Assassin 101 this time. Anticipated nothing, surprised no one, hid from no one, saw nothing, accomplished nothing. The only thing he hasn't done wrong is accidentally leave a business card behind.

Not sure, but I'll run some experimental data down at the mall and file a report.

Sarine's goggle-eyed at something specific--see my other post. Normal SNAFUs, like the failed ambush of Meji and Ian, just leave her looking sad and cynical.

Presumably John is worried because he's heard of the Ensigerum and figures he's about to die. I'd say Sarine is extremely freaked out because she knows the full depth of the Ensigerum's obviously elf-related history (wasn't her human partner Ensigerum?), and wasn't expecting them to still be around, or something like that.

I see Warrel isn't quite bastard enough to order Sara to deal with her brother. Better than I would've expected from the Ensigerum.

On a lighter note, we could finally be about to get some concrete background on the Ensigerum! Rejoice!

Jon's sister will be fighting him as soon as her superior orders her in for reinforcements, I think... and probably flinch at it.
She'd need time to do it.

I assume that they will be Interogating John for info about the Gwheir's activities. Then Sara will be called in to take care of him.

Also, John walked in there knowing that it could be a trap. Sarine thought he was just going to shot the guy and run. Thus why John is "Shit, I was right." And Sarine is "OMG! WTF are they doing here?!?!"

Poor Warren. He's gonna die. :(

Yes.

Not clear, unless you know something that wasn't published. He (and the guy that killed him) obviously had some martial-arts skills, but that's hardly surprising; remember, Sarine's long monologue on elven history mentioned that talented humans at that time served as surrogate duelists for elves too lazy to do the paperwork. Sarine herself being Viradior, it stands to reason that she'd wind up with one of those fighters as a partner, without the partner necessarily being Ensigerum.

I have a feeling that we're going to be learning just exactly what Sarine knows about the Ensigerum, however, and Real Soon Now. It's easy enough to look at this and see a flashback coming on.

Meanwhile, one of the interesting things here is that the mark was as surprised by all this as Jon. This means that neither the Ensigerum nor the church put him in the picture beforehand. Not a big surprise from the Ensigerum, of course, but it doesn't speak very well for the church that they'd risk throwing away one of their own VIPs without even letting him volunteer.

Considering the origin of the Ensigerum, any human trained to wield a Durus Flamma weapon can be safely assumed to be one.

Doesn't sound as though it took much, back then.
