Whatever it is, it revolves the removal of clothing, and that's what's important. :-D

No law says healing spells have to be painless.

Although this one might just be misfiring badly. Damn, I hope he isn't doing to Leah's lungs what he's doing to her clothes. And he appears to have burned off her nipples.

No law saying healing spells have to be pantless.
Looks like Ian's just having fun with that part of it.

I think he appears to have raised up magic flashy enough to obscure her nipples, really. Otherwise, there would be less magic pouring from the middle of her chest and over her breasts and more... ah... complete breasts visible but lacking nipples.

Which bring up a new question: What, exactly, does magic feel like when rushing over one's skin? I'm torn between painful, sensual, and some union of the two dependent upon the amount/type of magic involved.

I imagine healing something major with magic would feel like setting a bone with force, but worse. Essentially, it's destroying the damaged cells and somehow (that'd be the magic part) replacing them with undamaged cells. I can't imagine the forceful destruction and regeneration of body parts would be pleasant.

I once took a workshop on Therapeutic Touch, and while I freely admit that TT and other forms of faith-based healing might be complete nonsense, it was still an interesting experience. As I recall, the sensation of performing therapeutic touch (which, incidentally, is done without touching) was one of warmth and pressure, kind of like sticking your hand out the car window at 40 mph on a summer day.

I decided that perhaps I wasn't cut out to be a healer when rather than gently coax the energy to flow properly on a difficult patient, I essentially cut it a new channel and told it to start behaving or else. Therapeutic touch is generally performed without contacting the skin, and the person had their eyes closed so couldn't see what I was doing, but they claimed that they suddenly felt much better. Nonetheless, I didn't feel that my approach indicated a good personality fit with the idea of patienly redirecting other people's energy.

Holding all the blood in place while a number of the bloodvessels are torn to pieces and then triggering a magically forced growthspurt of surrounding cells... a kind of controlled super-cancer. The whole while her lungs, including a billion little brachae, are sliced into pieces and rearranged into a more functional shape before being glued back together by new cell growth. Mucus and fluids are being flash boiled. And the whole while she is suffocating because no oxygen is getting in while Ian is playing Dr. Mario.

It's a redemptive Elvis mummy movie.

The whole scene makes me thing of that ribcage through the anus thing labrat was talking about the other day.

By the way, what are the bookies saying?

That's only half of what's important. The other half is that he just destroyed that beautiful shirt! (It would look much better on the floor...)

Well, I'm told that a healing bone (and, presumably, the healing of any massive tissue damage) itches. I'm also told that the pins-and-needles sensation in a formerly numb appendage is the backed-up neural sensations flooding in faster than the brain was designed to detect them. So, I figure regeneration would feel basically like a combination of the two: the itchiness of healing flesh and bone, flooding in at a rate far faster than the brain was designed to interpret them.

In other words, painful in ways that would be difficult to imagine. (I think some of the folks around here might be up to the task, though.)

Oh, and for those of you who care, I think the left nipple might be almost kinda visible. Or that might be a button.

There is enough magic in the air that it might very well be both.
Now isn't that a happy thought.

Third world children are plentiful. Fossil fuels are scarce. We need to burn something.

* Odds on that spell being a healing spell are at unity 1:1. No bets being accepted on this.
* New odds of Ian exploding anything after the healing are now at 530:1
* Side bet - Meji actually showing some tender care, 30:1
* Side bet - Riley being changed to either a full male or a full female by the healing spell, 52:1
* Side bet - Riley getting pissed-off about the 'cure' 9:1
* All bets on the Labrat's scenario 1,000:1 (it looks more like Labrat may get his wish. The Bookies would rather have boobage though.)

That's the latest. Thoracic surgery by Anilis magic :-o

Actually this healing spell seriously increased the odds against Ian going postal. Even bipolars don't flip between healing and destruction like that. :-3

Meji still has no clue what he's doing, her mage senses mustn't be very good :-?

Leah's going to have to get used to not coughing up her lungs regularly.

Well put. Every nerve in her body is probably screaming right now. As very few writers know the physics of changes like this, they don't account even for the heat generated by this much forced chemical activity. Probably enough to boil her nervous system all by itself if the spell wasn't channelling it somewhere.

Yes, yes we do. All it takes is the person you're trying to help making it obvious they aren't willing to be helped, and then it's instant destructive rage.

Hmm, is that the coolest magic ever? ... or is Leah getting pissed, hulking out, and ripping out of her clothes...
"nnrgh

you wouldn't like it when I'm angry"

... aaaaanyway

Poor Ian. He's either going be beaten to a pulp by Riley and/or Meji, or he's going to collapse unconscious from doing this.

If he keeps this newfound power, there's going to be a LOT of surprised half elves when Ian, without provokation, rearranges their internal organs because of that little loose wire in his head.

Well, when Meji tried to dispel the charm that Sarine obviously (to Meji) had over Jon, Jon didn't enjoy the experience very much.

Godly Power is not equal to Godly perception and control. He's as likely to make her go kablooey while healing her if he doesn't have the control of the gods than anything else.
