That'd be me, but the line "you don't have to go home but you can't stay here" spoke for itself, and it was funny. Though not as hilarious as "or you'll have a bunch more stuff you need healed". Never wrong.

Am I the only person who knows the song Closing Time and yet didn't assume that this line was a reference to it? It's a rather common line often spoken when a bar/etc is closing down... hence it's using in the song... and it's use here. The use here didn't have to come by way of the song.

The only song named Closing Time that I know of was done by Leonard Cohen and contains no such lines.

Fortunately, the internet is a wonderful place filled with easy-to-access information on such things. Not necessarily complete information, but easy to access.

A human being. While there are a number of exceptions among us, generally speaking we are a bunch of self-serving bastards.

How about someone who is deathly ill, in constant pain, exhausted, desperate, far from home and possibly close to dying? It tends to focus the mind, and the suffering doesn't go away just because the doctor had a little fainting spell.

Always remember, the NPCs haven't read your character sheets and the supporting cast doesn't know they're irrelevant to the plot.

On a somewhat unrelated note, my chemistry teacher from high school was (as far as I know, still is) friends with one of the guy's from Semisonic.

Also, I must've glazed over that line when I first read it. I do that from time to time.

Might be the Triforce of Courage, as that's always the one Link had with him.

You'd think that dumb bitch Zelda would quit hiding the Triforce of Wisdom and getting kidnapped, but noooooo. I swear, if she wasn't an awesome lay, I'd just leave her to rot in Ganon's lair.

Unless Ian is destined to become the new Ganondorf, then Power.

You're not the only one.

And it's a pet peeve of mine when people mistake a reference to something far older for the original source instead of just a reference.

Yes, I realize some of them may be terminally ill, but if they are well enough to travel, they are well enough to wait for a night.

She's protecting her man. Fire in her eyes *and* hands. You can almost hear the sound of Dolly Parton in the background.

An incorrect and a fail for everyone so far.

The song Closing Time is by the band Semisonic and is from their album Feeling Strangely Fine and the lines I believe you're thinking about are:

One last call for alcohol
So finish your whiskey or beer

You don't have to go home
But you can't stay here

So gather up your jackets
Move it to the exits
I hope you have found a friend

I'm pretty sure I should set fire to all of you for not knowing this already.

I think you might mean Loretta Lynn. Dolly is usually a little more mild mannered. Don't know about more modern songbirds.

YOU AIN'T WOMAN ENOUGH (TO TAKE MY MAN)
Loretta Lynn - 1966

You've come to tell me something
you say I ought to know
That he don't love me anymore
and I'll have to let him go
You say you're gonna take him
oh but I don't think you can
Cause you ain't woman enough to take my man

Women like you they're a dime a dozen
you can buy 'em anywhere
For you to get to him I'd have to move over
and I'm gonna stand right here
It'll be over my dead body
so get out while you can
Cause you ain't woman enough to take my man

Sometimes a man starts lookin'
at things that he don't need
He took a second look at you
but he's in love with me
Well I don't know where that leaves you
oh but I know where I'll stand
And you ain't woman enough to take my man

Women like you they're a dime a dozen
you can buy 'em anywhere
For you to get to him I'd have to move over
and I'm gonna stand right here
It'll be over my dead body
so get out while you can
Cause you ain't woman enough to take my man

No you ain't woman enough to take my man

For real hysterics, how about a curse on city-girl Meji that forces her to talk in a country-western accent? The entire landscape would be lit with fire.

I was thinking of Tammy Wynnette: "Stand by y{insert strangled vowels here}r man." Hell's breakfast my head is full of shit.

Maybe Semisonic (if they're still going) should do a (virtual) duet with Hank Williams. Now there's a man who knew about closing time as a concept, if not an actuallity.

This is also incorrect, the lyrics in question are from the song Polka Power by Weird Al Yankovich.

It is you who has failed.

I see no errors in any of the many quoted posts about the origins of said lyrics.<ADMIN-FU! CHOP!>

I call backwards time universe and that I was, infact, the person who invented the phrase and every preceeding usage were all just rip offs.

I see the power of Poe, he's taken Retcon and applied it to the real world for fun and profit!
