while the admins iron out the kinks in the image uploader patch for phpbb (i think kest is working on it) i'll put up some info for an alternative easy image hosting option.
  • first, go to <a href="http://tinypic.com/">http://tinypic.com/</a>
  • click on the browse button, find your file, and hit ok.
  • you can add tags if you want. This can help yourself or others find your picture when searching tinypic for either your stuff or certain other types of pictures. I never bother since the thread i post the pic in is reference enough, or i only need to link the pic once anyway to show someone something.
  • hit upload.
  • you should be taken to the following screen:

Image

  • now you have two ways to post the image on the forums. The first is to copy the line with the phpbb code already applied and paste it into you post - no muss, no fuss. (look for the (1) in the screen cap, which, by the way, was posted using this method.)
  • the second option is a little more complicated, and generally unnecessary, unless you images is annoyingly huge. (for the CW forum i'd put this size at perhaps 1200 px wide since this board is about images and such. The other forums, 900 px wide is probably a good rule of thumb.) What you want to do is use the code below to resize the pic to fit, and make it a link so people can click on your image to see all the hard work you put into that 3000 x 3000 pixel image.

    Code:
    <a href="(2)"><img src="(2)" width="1200"></a>

  • the (2) refers to the link found in the line with the (2) next to it in the screenshot above. you can also change the number 1200 to be whatever number of pixels you want to decrease or increase the size of the 'thumbnail' version of your pic. see below for an example of 300px width.

    <a href="http://i9.tinypic.com/66mbqjk.jpg"><img src="http://i9.tinypic.com/66mbqjk.jpg" width="300"></a>
  • that's it! hit the preview button on your post to make sure everything's working the way you want, then hit submit. you are now a Creative Works Superstar.

This is intended as just another option for hosting content to be posted in CW and on the forums in general and is in no way a guideline or ruleset. I'll leave this thread stickied for others to to test out these methods, or to share their own methods and alternative hosting sites.

In the interest of preserving bandwidth i'll probably use tinypic for the most part, but feel free to use the image uploader when it becomes active. That's what it's for!

That thumbnail thing is interesting. You can also post pictures inside of [spoiler] tags.

modified spoiler code brought to you by pro and kyhm, i believe. You can get rid of the center tags if you just want it to sit at the left like normal.
