Drama is all well and fine but I wrote an outline for a sequel to District 9 on 4Chan this morning and now the site is dead because it was so awesome that the movie company must has launched the ultimate DDoS attack to prevent people from seeing it.

Oh yeah, that's another exception. Nothing makes 4chan interesting.

I've been drunk for the last week or so. I woke up today and found out I have a Laptop now.
Awesome.
But it has Windows 7 which I don't understand how it works and I don't have a mouse. Less Awesome.

That's a terrible thing to do with alcohol. Next time try abusing ezzems. I think that's what most people do when drunk.

Been using it since the RC came out. It's worth moving over.

I'm still not convinced, I spent a fair whack of last night trying to transfer files over from my XP box to Win7 lappy. I think my main problem is I need a mouse for the laptop because life really sucks without a mouse for me.
So once I have one and am a bit more used to the GUI of 7 I'll report back(I'm not hating it so far for what its worth, I am however hating the rubbish software that Acer dumped on my laptop when they gave it to me however much of which I don't want to uninstall because I can't be certain that it won't destroy my system to lose it).

i dont suppose you guys would know about foreign language support? (the ones that dont use roman letters of course)
also does it have any trouble with backward compatibility for xp games and the likes? bl games are already hard enough to install on the system they were made for :-?

I couldn't get my DVD drive to work, it was full of fail and aids, so I had to replace the entire Laptop.
So after tonight is done(seriously I'm drinking Pocari Sweat and Vodka tonight so all hell may break loose) I'll install some games(Deus Ex, Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines, Medieval Total War 2 and I think C&C Generals) and see how they go. I don't have any Japanese games so I can't really comment. Also my main problem is the Shovelware that Acer put on the damn thing, I was told by the guy at the shop that I should just download the ISO of Windows(I've got Home edition sadly) and re-install it from scratch if its pissing me off too much, but that might cause problems with the Warranty if the problem is a software one.

Yes, foreign games that require you to swap your language pack over in xp still work fine.

t Actor Just rip all the shovelware off. I had the same on my new(ish) laptop, and it is much better for it.

Or he could be a manly man and uninstall the stuff that he doesn't want and then see what's broken afterwards.

I am a manly man, I just don't want to be a manly man with a $1000 paperweight. The stupid machine didn't come with a disc to re-install windows so if something is fucked up I can't fix it without downloading an ISO file, burning a disc and pirating windows.... THIS IS THE ADVICE THE GUY AT THE SHOP GAVE ME, pirate windows if something really fucks up on the software end.
God I love tech support sometimes, they are real cool guy and doesn't afraid of anything.

In unrelated news TOGA!

Actor.

Not even a system disk from the laptop manufacturer? From what little I've seen of laptops there's ususally some sort of system disk filled with OS and bloat to do a fresh install from.

However, I guess that's like being given a spare canoe just in case the one you're paddling along with develops a leak, when all you need is some patches to cover over the holes and maybe a bucket to bail out.

I think it depends on the manufacturer. I've had two HP laptops, and they both require you to burn your own discs to restore the computer.

Though, all the restore disc would do anyway is put it back to it's factory-fresh, bloated state anyway. Honestly, it's just easier going crazy with the uninstall utility for a bit.
