I am A Real Teacher now, having taught a whole year of a K/1 split. Next year I am hired at the same school to do reading groups with primary kids that are behind their grade level, effectively making me an underpaid Learning Assistance teacher but considering the general state of teacher jobs right now I don't mind (also I get a TA and they ordered me all kinds of nice supplies no questions asked, because yay private schools!). Skjie and I have a nice house a couple hours out of Vancouver, BC (it's called Chilliwack if you care to google maps, we're on the Sardis side). We're up to three cats because I have no self control with kittens. I garden pretty heavily and we just got back from three weeks in Europe, Skjie is making a webpage which we will post when it is done.

I was overhauling my master password list... and got down to the "K"s... and thought Now *there's* a place I haven't been in a while (and apparently no one else has been either. I threw the URL at the browser and (as always) was surprised that the forum still is being hosted somewhere. I'm posting 'cuz I might as well as long as I'm here. Why not?

I'm still in Oregon at the job I moved to in 2014. Working long hours doing interesting technical infrastructure development at an awesome Fortune 500 company. I love it! Still have a website and a blog. Still watching tons and tons of anime. I love that, too!

(No, I'm not really expecting anyone to respond to this. I'm simply amazed that the forum is still here... and that my login still works.)

Hey, I still check in every couple of months.
Most of us are on Facebook these days, here's the group link I think you have to be a member to see other users and I don't know if you're on Facebook, there's about 30 people there.
We also have an ongoing chat thing happening in Google/Gmail these days with a few of the old crew floating in and out of it. It's annoyingly inactive during my awake hours because I'm still in Australia.
Email me if you want in invite to stop in and say hello. I'm about 99% sure that you need a gmail/google account to join however. So just be aware of that.

Nice to see some of us are around and kicking.

Actor.

Nice to hear from you, Actor!

I think I've done well to resist getting a Facebook account. I'm going to remain stubborn and stay outside. I do have a Gmail account, though.

I'm so happy to see that at least one thread is still alive here  - you're all still my favourite internet peeps. It's great seeing how well most of y'all are doing.

I'm still dating the same lovely person, but thanks to the wonders of modern science :billnye: my former boyfriend is my current girlfriend

Currently I'm working as a tech lead (web stuff) and I do the occasional usergroup / conference talk. I'm also hacking away on a game in my spare time (about a year in now).

I still don't really do social media, but I do still regularly play vidya so hit me up if you want my steam / battle.net details and wanna multiplayer.

(There are actually a few other very prominent forum regulars who later turned out to be girls, though I won't name names because I'm not sure how "out" they are.)

So just to get this thing started again, because I'm rebelling against social media today...

I moved to Korea with Poe, where I studied the language for a couple of years off and on and then figured out I could enroll in college and actually get a degree this time, so I did that. I'm majoring in English Language & Literature at Korea University, which is kinda hilarious given my existing fluency and publishing background, but it's actually a stunningly good school and I'm really enjoying my classes.

I've spent the last year in my house having virtually zero contact with anyone except zooming to class due to the pandemic. However, once it's over and international travel is a thing again, y'all are welcome to come visit and make use of the spare room. I should officially have one to offer for the next two years or so, though we might move after that depending on whether the landlord raises our rent again.
